Doesn't sucralose melt much like sugar coating coils and then turn into black carbon that tastes nasty when burnt off the coils?

Yes, sucralose (TFA Sweetener) does gunk up the coils a little more than if you hadn't added any but raspberry or lemon without it is just a little too sour! It still doesn't gunk them up nearly as much as the red tobacco funk my brother-in-law favors.

I mix up single flavors all the time and only combine them when adding to my tank. Strawberry lemonade going right now but I often change it to peach lemonade, pineapple lemonade, and orange lemonade. I also do peachy pineapple & cinna-mint. I've been mixing about 25% coconut into my peppermint for weeks so after the 2 I just made up age a little bit, I will be making a combo out of them so I don't have to keep dragging both bottles out. I also put a 50/50 mixture of peppermint & mocha into one of my tanks. The chocolate in the mocha has taken over so much since I mixed it several months ago that I can't taste the coffee and the chocolate tastes fake. Hopefully I don't end up with a fake tasting eskimo pie but if I do, I'll just add some coconut & almond to the mocha instead of peppermint and make it an almond joy.

Yeah I'm wondering about that if you mix two pre-steeped flavors and vape it right away how does that compare to if you mix two pre-steeped flavors and then they steep together again?

I guess I've never used enough to have that problem. I only use 1-2% just enough to make a difference. I have used more in my chocolate ADV and noticed those coils need cleaning more often, I assumed it was the chocolate lol. Never noticed a nasty taste after dry burning. I guess I'm just lucky lol. ;)

I don't hear much on TFA's Quince. Here's one I call Asian Pear. Tastes like a sweet spiced pear. I mix at 20mg 70/30.

RY4 Asian @ 7%
Vanilla Swirl @ 3%
Quince @ 2.5 %
Apple @ 2%
EM @ 1%
Koolada @ .5%
ACV @ .5%

All flavors are TFA. The Quince is a little on the strong side, you can overdo it in a hurry. The koolada is optional but it moistens it up if you find it too dry, and drop the EM to .5% if too sweet.

EDIT: Needs a long steep time for the RY and the Quince.

Ah well I don't know that's why I was asking. I thought I had read somewhere that sucralose did the same thing as sugar in an atty. If you don't use a lot I guess it will be ok. for that matter I don't know that stevia or ethyle maltose don't do the same thing. I'm just learning...

Actually sugar is a no-no because it will caramelize and definitely funk up your coils and wicks. That's why there are alternatives. I believe stevia has a funny aftertaste, so I personally use Sucralose drops instead. EM doesn't actually sweeten, instead it alters our taste receptors much like smooth, vape wizard and other additives do. Recently there's been a lot if talk about how EM apparently mutes or dulls flavors over time too.

What kind of percentages are you using for the root beer. Just looking for a starting point with that

I will go between 10 to 15%, depending on how quickly I want to vape it. I use the higher percentage every-so-often if I run out and have to have it soon... otherwise I stick down near 10%. I don't make it in large batches because this is the flavor that goes away over time.

I am still working on that flavor. I am not pleased with my results and am open to suggestions.

I've seen a lot of people say that root beer is a hard one to nail. I've wanted to try it for a while, but haven't yet because of that. I'm waiting on cola, plum, and champagne to try for Dr. Pepper instead. You've got me tempted to try the root beer now though. Wouldn't be till I get my glass tank anyway since I've seen it's rough on plastics.

Steeping is definitely worth the time it takes! I'm expecting Orange cream with the Dr Pepper ingredients and some others, looking forward to it. I've wanted to try the orange cream for a while too but it was always out of stock. Do you know if that one is hard on tanks too like orange is? I may have to make it weak until my fasttech order comes (hopefully in a month or so lol).

I am not sure but I bet it is it tastes like it has orange oil in it (I tasted all the flavoring straight yuck). I know it tastes a lot like creamsicle.

I came across some extra money bought a gallon of pg a gallon of vg and 14 flavorings from tfa in the 4oz size (because everyone on here seems to think they have the best diy flavorings) and a liter of 100 mg nic juice. LOL kinda setting up shop for the vapepocalypse here.

I have been operating on a VERY strict budget here previously and probably from here on out and that has made it so that I was pretty much going hand to mouth on vape supplies. Thats why I have been ignoring what everyone says about steeping so far but now I got supplies so I guess it is time to start doing it right. I even got 5 different size mixing beakers and two measuring cylinders to do it right. I am supposed to be getting a nimbus dripper tomorrow in the mail and I am waiting for my dna 30 box mod kit to come. I blew way too much money but maybe now I can start doing it right.

LOL being broke sucks blowing all your money on vape supplies sucks to but I just need to stay off the cigs whatever it takes. If I seem like I am asking too many questions that is because I jumped in with both feet probably before I was ready but that is who I am. :)

I wouldn't make more than 10ml of anything until I had the mix perfected. That will definitely cut down on waste imo

Cheers,
Steve

Your probably right... (sigh)

I just made it because by the sounds of things I am not going to know if I have it right until it sits for a while and I am almost out of the stuff that is already made. I made the tobacco's in the ratios that we were talking about before and figure I can adjust from there. The rest of it I kind of made to taste which might mean it is too strong but I figure I can thin it out with vg/pg if it is and I got more flavoring to make it stronger if I need to. I haven't made anything super complex yet though.

I did try to make a small amount of cherry vanilla for a friend from cherry extract and vanillin. I didn't like it but they think it tastes good (I don't like cherry anyway though so... shrug).

I don't think I will make too much more for a bit though and I may end up vaping some of what I have steeping out of not having anything else soon so you know I am going to play it by ear.

I did find by the way that the ry4 tastes waaaaayyyy better at the lower percentage. I already vaped a tank of it in my pro tank. mmmmm.

I think it tastes like grahm crackers if you add a couple of drops of sweetener all by itself lol but I didn't add any to the batch just to what I vaped already.

THANK YOU for all your help for real. I was kind of lost. I knew how to measure and run the program that told me the ammounts but I had no starting point as far as percentages went. Most of the flavors were easy just take a guess and adjust to taste but those tobacco flavors... I had em so far off I would have wasted a ton before I got it right or worse maybe thrown em out. So thank you for the help. I appreciate it.

I know what you mean. I've given myself a very tight vaping budget since I started. I get my Nic and the 8oz flavor bottles from WL, two bottles of the flavors I use a lot. That was the best way for me to keep costs down and still have over 60 flavors to play with. I get my PG & VG locally by the gallon to save on shipping.
I only mix 30ml of my 3 favorites, putting 5-10ml in another bottle in case I want some right away like you lol. Luckily they are flavors that are good right away, and awesome after steeping. ;)

and thank you to for not acting like I was an ... it's nice to get people who answer you when you ask questions instead of acting like your bothering them. You know in fact my whole experience on this site so far has been pleasant and very educational (like the internet should be). unfortunately it isn't always like that in cyber space.

Thank you all
(without all the help I probably would be back smoking)

Hi all,
I've searched and searched for an answer to my inability to make a TFA Caramel Apple. I'm using Apple and either Caramel (original) or Caramel Candy. If the answer is here and I missed it, I apologize. But if someone could point my wife and I in the right direction it would be very appreciated.
I must admit that a good deal of my time looking for a caramel apple recipe has been spent reading posts about other flavors. The info here varies from interesting to captivating and I thank you all for your posts about failures as well as successes. It's been very helpful. We have a few that are almost good enough to post here, the best is a piña colada with a menthol breeze that is still overpowering but we're getting there and look forward to sharing it.
