For me it seems base ratio dependent. When I first got this I was mixing it at 12% in an 80/20 PG/VG base and it was great. Then I switched my mixes to 50/50 PG/VG and it lost some of it's appeal. A couple of other flavors attracted my attention and I've not been back to the Apple to try and fix it yet. :2c: YMMV

I mixed up some of the TFA Green Apple Flavor at 15% and added a drop of TFA Sweetener per each 5 ml. It is a very light flavor. I added .25% TFA Cinnamon Flavor to give it a little kick and it's better. 75PG/25VG at 10 mg. Even in the flavor bottle, it doesn't have a lot of scent.

I use holiday spice. However, no matter what the proportion, within reason, I hardly get any apple out of it. I might try it at 25% and 2%, just to see if I can get a spiced cider, for real. :glare:

awesome chart!

i have been on a huge Melon kick lately (commercial) and the 3 TFA (from TPA site) that i got recently were all great.
All10% ( VG/PG 80/20 mix in all)
Cantaloupe
Honey Dew
Watermelon
All steeped a few days:
The *Honey Dew and *Cantaloupe flavor were just excellent imo… i am so stoked because the Pear that i tried earlier was a bust imo…
I compare these with commercial Melon flavors that i like and yeah, just stoked.
Slightly sweet which is good, and not candy.

Watermelon was the least spectacular… subtle, not sweet,… but much better than the VZ SC (that i expected to be good)

I will be focusing on these for a while…. :)

I don't see passion fruit on the list, so I will tell you guys about my experience...I posted a thread asking what % i should start out with (I like my flavors strong), and someone recommended that this was a light flavor and i should start at 20%. I am REALLY new at diy, so i decided to make a 6ml batch of this (in case it came out bad). OH MY!!! I'm glad that I made such a small bottle. 20% is WAY too high! After steeping for a week, it tastes HORRIBLE!! Very chemical-like taste, and nothing like passion fruit. I'm going to try it again (I really love passion fruit) at 5% and work my way up if the flavor is not enough.

So I have a question about the list

Why is it that now some of the flavors that were on the list earlier in this thread, are no longer on the list?
For instance, around page 20, Earl Grey was on the list. Now it isn't. Earl Grey is a TFA flavor, and it was added to the list in this thread.

I am not trying to start any drama, just wondering is all. The list with Earl Grey on it was quoted for many pages then all of a sudden it was just gone. I believe other flavors were taken off the list as well, I'm just not sure which ones they were.

Aha I forgot to say I made all samples with 86% VG base. Scent is really delicious. Will try 15-20% with 50/50 base. I don't have any sweetener yet to try and fix it with that but I did get a TPA cotton canday sampler with my order and read here that that can be used as sweetener. Going to make 5ml what % cotton candy I can try with that?

As a sweetener, just 1 or 2 % on the cotton candy.

Holy cow! 20%? that's taking a plunge….let us know how your next one works out?

then again, steeping makes a difference sometimes so maybe it will get better?

you could use the 20% as a base and stretch it; dilute it.

I let the original steep for a week. I just did my calculations on diluting it to 5%. I'm fixing to mix it up now. Now....to steep or not to steep, that is my next question. After I dilute it, should i let it steep again for a few days?

Don't quote me on this, but I think I remember a post by someone who said the OP had him repost the list to what the OP had compiled. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: found it http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/336110-flavor-apprentice-flavoring-thread-45.html#post10913997

Edit2: The list actually appears to have been changed in post #1321. I'm assuming that this was to remove non-TFA flavors.

As the OP, I have never knowingly removed a flavor. I have added notes and altered percentages and dropped some of this 4/5 or 5/5 stuff.

I have always let any poster add any TFA flavoring name they wish to along with a suggested percentage. If things get out of hand, I might have to alter the list.. I cannot delete any post, unless it violates the ECF rules.

I found the melon flavors to come in great with just a day or two… some may take up to a week and more.
