I sort of failed at the Danish juice. I'm waiting on icing and I tried to use frosted donuts instead for the icing. It tastes like a glazed cinnamon donut

Heck! I say post it and called it "Glazed Cinnamon Doughnut"! In fact, PLEASE post it! You may not know-but I've a MAJOR sweet tooth when it comes to juices.... so something like this is RIGHT up my alley!

Bill and others what would be the starting steps? There is a tobacco I like and the reason I started into DIY at the time I just ordered a flavor that was named the same added pg/vg/nic and ....
Have since ordered many tobaccos from various companies and same results. Gave up on it. Came across a banana split recipe and subbed 1 or 2 flavorings I didn't have which turned out fairly decent and has become my ADV. Very recently came upon your and others insights here and want to take another swing the proper way. So... Where would I start since it's a tobacco flavor? Do the flavor chart test on all the tobaccos I have? What if I don't have the right one, order more?

You do have to flavor test you TFA flavorings, and record your impressions on each one.

When flavor testing any juice, you are trying to identify initially the one or two primary flavorings, and one or two secondary flavorings in the mix, so you have to be familiar with your arsenal of flavorings. Your sense of smell is the first step, way before mixing. What does the juice to be copied smell like? What tobacco flavoring comes closest to matching that flavor? Next, what else can you smell, and/or taste? If you cannot find some of the flavorings by smell and taste, it's going to be hard to copy. I can generally identify three or flavorings by smell, perhaps another one or two with taste. I don't have to get it perfect, just in the ballpark. There are such things as smelling strips too, which do help a great deal. I use them all the time. I got them from TFA way back when, but I'm not sure if she still sells them, but they are readily available.

Put the juice to be copied on the flavor strip and let it waft in the air below your nose. Take it in and try and put a label on what you smell. See how many ingredients you can identify. Check those aromas against the aromas in your flavorings. You may or may not have a particular flavoring, but still may be able to identify it. As you identify each ingredient, write it down, and then return here to report your findings, and we'll take the next step, i.e., mixing and percentages. good luck! :D

Yes, she sure does sell them still. They can be located here:

Good luck on your juice journey Jim-and please feel free to come asking questions anytime :) And, if you want to share your ADV recipe with us, we would be HAPPY to see!!!

Btw...

GOOD MORNING ALL!

So, I may have hit the nail on the head on the cinnamon portion of the flavoring for Jay's Custard v2. YAY! So Now I have to start with the lemon addition, as my first 3 100DT's did not bring even the slightest lemon forward at 3%. Just tossing it out there-would adding a drop of citric acid ruin it entirely? (I was actually thinking a mini drop-like from those micro-pipets TFA sends) or even a few CA crystals?

Are you trying to make a lemon custard? Is that it?

I would probably start at 3-4% and adjust up or down to suit your sweet tooth.

so for me that'd be like double? lol

I did Reni! Let me know if I can help! :D

You're always such a help Bill! I'm going to go start a few chores and laundry-then open the lab. I'll do another 2-3 100DT's and see what I come up with. I really want to let what I made last night sit and mellow a lil bit but DANG its yummyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy lol

I've not tried the gross one in a tank yet. But I will tonight. I'm almost afraid to lol I can't put my finger on it, but it tasted acid-y. Hence the "v" description. I have a feeling if I added cream to it, it'd taste fine though. Not sure WHY I think that, but it's my instincts talking...:vapor:

This sounds good. Come on! Post it, please? Serendipitous accidents can be the best.

Hey Bill, you were looking for that something that was missing in the Danish. Try a touch of toasted almond. I tried my first go at the strawberry cheesecake Danish 30% flavors and it wasn't right. I dropped 1%\ 1 drop of toasted almond and it seems to bring out a little browned bread type thing to it. I'll have to do my %s and do another 100 drops to know for sure. I don't taste any cream cheese at all though.

The best I got in 4 test batches was over 30% flavor. I tried to adjust but I lost the balance.
I used
Cheesecake 10%
Graham cracker 5%
Sweetner 5%
Vanilla bean gelato 4%
FW yellow cake 2%
Lemon 4%
Butter 3%

I cut the GC by 1
VBG by1
Yellow cake by 1 and lost the cream cheese.

It's not very good and I wouldn't bother with it but...

Cinnamon Danish 10%
Graham cracker 1%
Vanilla custard 3%
Vanilla swirl 2%
Cotton candy 3%
Frosted donut 2%
Pie crust 2%

A friend that makes the best frosted cinnamon Danish I've ever had told me that there is no off the shelf cinnamon roll or cinnamon Danish that is good enough. You have to make it from scratch. So I'm on a quest to do that. Waiting on flavoring...again. Lol

On the bright side, I've almost got my strawberry vanilla custard down. It's really good right now and I'm fine tuning it.

Nice Vape Gear, my friend! The elusive cheesecake. I don't think anyone can make it, and certainly I may be wrong, but cheesecake has such a unique flavor texture thing, that it's going to be hard to duplicate that, I think. I love cheesecake, but in two years, I haven't been able to make anything I liked. I wish you well, my friend! :toast:

My all day vape for about 18 months has been a Cinnamon Danish. Doesn't have a frosting, just sweet. I keep thinking I'll find something to replace it, but haven't yet, and I've made a few juices along the way. Here she is:

Cinnamon Danish - 10%
Cotton Candy - 10%
Bavarian Cream - 3 - 6%

Works really good for me. If I wanted a bit of frosting, I would add +/- 2% of LA Cream Cheese Icing.

I may be wrong, but the more research I do on these danishes, the more I think the primary flavoring is Cotton Candy, or maybe Sweetener, with secondary flavorings of cinnamon, cream, even pecans (ate a piece of pecan Danish....WOW!). So, maybe I would add about 3% pecans to the LA Cream Cheese Icing and the recipe above. That sounds pretty good to me, and I may try this later on today, when I can get into the Vape Lab. Ciao!
