My :2c: on our juice changing colors. I started vaping my Hazelnut mix about 6 months ago. I mixed up 30 mls @ 12 mg nic. I also mixed up 30 mls with no nic. Both of them have the same amount of flavorings. I use it when I feel like I've taken in a bit to much nic. The no nic is in a plastic bottle and is at least 6 months old. It is still crystal clear. My everyday Hazelnut is a nice dark amber color. Hubby mostly vapes 16 mg unflavored juice. His stays clear. These two examples tell me that it is the nic, mixing with the flavoring that causes our juice to change colors. I love all the nice colors each mix changes to. :D

You are correct!

The nicotine is the most sensitive component to light, oxygen and temperature change...

Now if the mix with nic was stored in a blue bottle, it would be slightly darker, but not much...

As long as nic mixes are not subjected to high temperatures or left open to the air, there is very little degradation in quality over time....(time meaning lets say 6 months or less)....

But my juice (30ml) NEVER lasts that long....if it does, it's a "tosser" anyway! :p

Very cool convo on the oxidization situation with our juices. Very educational. I too, like a couple others, find anything not in brown/cobalt glass ends up a caramel color faster. With or without nic. I actually have a bottle my son got as a "sample" with no nic, from a vape show here locally, about August. That thing has a born on date of August 1, 2014 and by August 7, it was already turning. I did the chem test for nic (was the first I ever did) twice and both times came up no joy. So in that case, I'm guessing it is the flavor. Currently, its almost deep brown. It's an AWESOME grape flavor though... still. Go figure.

I store my juice in amber bottles in a closed cupboard. They are never exposed to light. They still darken. I don't buy that blue bottle, amber bottle talk. It think it has a lot to due with oxygen, and the fact that bottles are not air tight. Reagent bottles can be airtight, but I believe that oxygen is primary contributor to the color change, not light. :2c::D

Interesting this came up. I store bottles pretty lazily, since I never have that much juice in hand; just on whichever table I happened to use to fill up last.

I had ~15ml of Pink Starburst (quite tasty, btw) that was about a week old, and the top 1/4 inch or so had turned rather yellow inside the cobalt blue jar. I just had to shake/stir and fill up a tank. It seemed fine, but I'd never seen the color form in such a band. That would make sense that it started at the top, if oxygen's the culprit.

Ok, mixed up a snake venom clone replacing coconut candy @2% in place of coconut extra @1-1.5%, sniff test....where's the coconut smell? So, just by smell alone, there is a difference...I am smelling peach only, when I use coconut extra, I smell coconut in mix too from the get go, now some people don't like coconut extra either from stuff I've read, some think suntan lotion coconut, it works for me but might not be for everyone apparently seems people either love or hate it..I will give this mix another day and will see how it vapes, but already, sniff test alone is telling me coconut candy is much milder, and as Monica has noted, might need a higher % in a recipe to be equivalent to coconut extra.

Read in my old notes from all over...use 1/2 amount of coconut extra if using in place of coconut(regular)

Read on reddit, SJ prices increase, so cloning these recipes saves me $$$$, yay

Where it does not show up in the sniff test, it seems to overpower in the taste test, don't let the lack of smell on C-EX fool you because its sneaky :)

Since I have never eaten a real coconut, my brain tells me this flavor is off because it doesn't taste like a mounds bar :)

I can't smell the coconut candy, using that instead of coconut extra...I usually use coconut extra and can smell it fine even at 1-1.5%…noting the difference

Need help with this. I love orange dream bar and was trying this recipe but it is so harsh it burns on inhale it does have a sorta orange cream bar but just don't like the harshness maybe you can tell what is wrong. Tfa flavors 6 mg nic 50/50 blend made on 9/20/14

Orange cream 9%
Vanilla swirl 4%
Vanilla custard 3%
Em 1%

I like another version of Orange Dreamcycle:

Cherry - 6%
Raspberry - 6%
Orange - 6%
Dulce de Leche - 2%
Cotton Candy - 5%

Tastes spot on to me. Not sure about your burning. Like many TFA flavorings, orange cream I use as a supporting flavor, not a primary. The Orange (sweet) and Dulce de Lech from TFA are both very, very strong and deals with the cherry/raspberry nicely. Two cents. :2c: :D :toast:

Would love to see you participate!

I'm hoping to have some time to sit and experiment but fall is when the best hikes are! I never seem to be home.

I have everything ready!

Looks like a great variety, I am curious about the praline and malted milk flavors...happy mixing!
