Yes BBallmom -- I did get my AP!! I thought I had mentioned it but I probably didn't. I haven't had a chance to try it with the DRY4 yet but I did add a drop or so I thought to the Rice Crunchies mix -- I think I put too much. I think I'm gonna have to dilute it - thing is I only have VG but I think it'll do --

Thank you so very much!!!

I saw it -- as I said, no need at all to go to any trouble, because it's going to be a WHILE before I'm comfortable enough with any of this DIY to be able to make more than 30ml at a time, which I can vape in a week or 10 days, so no need at all for citric acid. To be honest, even a 1% addition of 10% citric acid might make it too tart for me; that might be what I've objected to in so many "bought" juices, because I really dislike the tart taste a great deal. Maybe that small an amount of the stuff can't even be tasted, I really have no idea, but I know that most "bought" juices I've tried struck me as too tart, not nearly sweet enough, and I had to add some sweetener to them to make them vapable at all, for my taste. I loathe and despise lemonade, lemon pie, key lime pie, etc -- and when I was a kid I actually put sugar in orange juice! I know, sounds appalling to me now, but that's my taste preference, so I'm not sure I'll ever want to add citric acid -- maybe a .5% or something really light, if and when I get to the point where I'm making more than 60ml at a whack.

I got the Kona Coffee and think it's really gross. Hideous aftertaste, imo. I'm afraid to even try the bottle of Clear Coffee flavor I got too 'cause I've heard worse things about that.

This ends my quest to find a yummy clear coffee flavor.

3 days later and my sense of taste is still recovering. Everything I've vaped, smelled, or eaten since vaping that Kona coffee has had that hideous Kona coffee after-note to it. Blech!

Really threw me for a terrible and strange case of vapors tongue. :(

I seriously doubt that anyone could taste citric acid at .1%. It occurs naturally in all manner of foods, at higher concentrations than this, that certainly don't taste sour.

As we see day in and day out on this thread, new DIY'ers almost never add enough sweetener, creams and vanillas to their mixes, yet they are constantly surprised when single flavor mixes don't taste right, some down right awful. The flavors we vape are a mixture, a blend of several flavorings, and not just a single flavoring. Probably 90 - 95% of all TFA flavorings don't make a good juice on their own. But add them to the right supporting flavors, and Nirvana is possible. Mixing great juice is learned, and very little was intuitive for me, and it took me many months to make even a single ADV, so I always recommend that new DIY'ers start with some proven recipes. It's a great way to start.

Standalone Kona coffee is no different than the other 90% of flavors that won't work on their own. So, don't be discouraged, just learn the mixing strategies and supporting flavors to make juice really good. A good cup of Joe vape is certainly within our reach, but not as a single flavoring. I find coffee particularly useful with chocolate mixes, btw. Like chocolate, coffee needs vanilla, sweetener, creams, etc. to work. Just my two cents. :2c: :toast: :D

I really disliked ALL coffee flavored vapes for a LOOOOOOOOONG time after I started vaping, but I've finally found one I can work with, if I add a lot of other stuff to it -- the Inawera Cappucino, at 3%, with 2 diff TFA chocolates (milk and double-dark), french vanilla creme, sweetener, and some CAP hazelnut and CAP sweet cream, plus some INW Virginia Tobacco Absolute, and this very-smoky mothersmilkWTA -- in fact I call the recipe "Smoky cappucino". I'm actually on the trail of a high-PG ersatz "Long Bottom Leaf" (pipe sauce), and it's not quite there yet, but it's getting closer and closer.

Used at 1% of the mix using a 10% solution is a strength to mix of .1%. It is confusing. I may be confused, too, but that is how I use it as well. Works out to be about 1 drop for every 30 mls or so (at full strength), or 1 drop of a 3 ml solution (10% solution). It's not much, and I've never tasted it in anything I've made. :2c: :toast: :D

Ok, that makes sense -- I'm just such a total math doofus, it didn't automatically occur to me. And you're right, I probably wouldn't be able to taste it, especially with the huge amount of sweetener I use, but with me making such small amounts right now, really don't see the need. And considering that I now have some 150-180ml of Virginia that I'm pretty sure I'll never vape again, I'm not sure I'll ever get to the point of making really large quantities. Maybe that will change, after my sense of taste/smell stabilizes more.

I wanted to put these all together so we can see how similar the ingredients are for all of them, as you would suspect, right? I love candy bars, and these make wonderful breaks during our vaping day. I would love to add to my candy bar collection, so if you have a recipe to share, I would be very grateful. Some the candy bars can be made with ingredients other than TFA. I think Flavor West has several flavorings for candy bars, and I do recommend them. However, I'm trying to stick just to TFA flavors here.

The fun thing about these candy bars is you can see that it would be easy to make your own candy bar, with similar ingredients, and it's likely to be just as good, and you can flavor to taste. Good luck!

Maybe pies next????

As you can see, the differences between the candy bars is not that significant. Of the ones I've made, at least, a little peanut butter, or caramel, or coconut or English Toffee can change the flavoring substantially. Notice on one flavoring I use the Kona coffee to provide a special flavoring. Alone, the kona coffee is terrible, but in the right mix in the right context, it works great, just not as single flavoring.

What is interesting is that you can study the differences and pick up nuances about any candy bar. Even my blog on chocolate covered cherries, I accidentally discovered a candy bar about six or seven iterations into the mix. There's enough information here to provide the clues you seek to making your own candy bar to your liking and particular taste preferences. Take a look, and if you still need more information, let me know. I'm happy to help in any way I can. Happy mixing! and Good luck! :toast: :D

:2cool:

Edit: Here's some more chocolates for your consideration....MORE CLUES.....to help you pursue that special flavoring with chocolate. I remember when people used to say that you couldn't make a good chocolate with TFA flavorings! I beg to differ:

Look through the list and maybe even make one or two and see if it suits you. No point in re-inventing the wheel right out of the gate. If you have an idea about a flavor combination to add/change the butterfinger, let me know and we can strategize on it together. As you can see, I do love my chocolate and have spent a lot of time developing recipes for it. Since peanut butter IS the primary in the butterfinger recipe, we may have to go a different direction, as there is very little chocolate in that mix (because peanut butter is the primary). Make sense? Anyway, Good luck!

That one for chocolate cream pie piques my interest, but so far I haven't seen a whipped cream flavoring without diketones. :( And it's really GOTTA have whipped cream -- my philosophy is, anything that's good with whipped cream, is better with MORE whipped cream! Those commercials on TV where the waitress asks "cream or oil?" and then proceeds to put one little squirt on a piece of pie... that's enough whipped cream for ONE BITE.

Maybe either TFA or Capella will do a DX or v2 for whipped cream soon. I really hope so!!!

The State of Confusion
Hey all...

Well as a bonus of the 0 degree weather yesterday I got a real bonus!

I come home today from a uneventful Rx refil trip at my physicians to hear "running water", LOTS OF RUNNING WATER.....

A Yup, the ole' frozen, split, blowd up PVC water pipe routine....gonna make the plumbers OT tomorrow as of course they could not come out today...

I just love the cold weather......not to mention I am building a new ice skating rink on my property adjacent to my house.....

I knew there was a reason to get a home on 5 acres! :vapor:

Thank goodness we have Light, Gas and Water idiot forgiveness! (they will credit us for weather related issues like burst pipes). :thumb:
