I'm still waiting to try out Bill's Cinnamon Danish recipe. I received a flavor order on Monday, but instead of Cinnamon Danish, they sent Cinnamon.

I've been typing up all of the recent recipes on this thread so I can have them all ready to try out. Of course, I am missing an ingredient or two on most of them. My vaping budget is extremely small, so it's going to be a while before I can get all of the flavors I need. I only have around 50 right now. That's why I had asked about the different vanillas. I can't just grab them all at once. I have to get the ones that are the most versatile and get the others later.

At first I was only writing down recipes I wanted for myself. Then I got to thinking that if I could convert a smoker to vaping, it would be good to have recipes that I could make for those who don't have the same taste as I do. So, even if you don't think a recipe sounds good for you, save it anyway, just in case. :)

I'm right there with you. I am retired and on a monthly budget. The agreement I have with the wife is I will curtail my spending to 1/4 of what I used to spend on cigarettes every month, so about $100 budget. I am new to this whole vaping thing so I am still looking looking at all the toys trying to figure out what I want to use. So far, I am happy with a MVP20 and Nautilus Mini. As I posted before I am just trying to get a regular flavor I can taste all the time right now. So this month I spent the $100 on flavors, PG, VG and Nic. I vape about 90ml a month so this should last me 3-4 months. That means next month I can get a new toy to play with and see if it will give more of the flavor I am looking for.

I dont have a big budget myself and I just bought a sigeli 150w 2 / 18650 batteries and an efest 4 slot charger today it was a little over your $100 budget and probably beyond what you would want or need but hey I have been looking to get a box mod and was looking at the smaller 30 and 40 watters but figured this thing will do just about anything I want to do not a cloud chaser myself but know I have the ability if I get a wild hair as it goes down to .1 ohm coils LOL.

I can say that your setup power, coil, tank or dripper makes a huge difference in the taste and feel.

Thanks for the notes about the ejuicemeup calculator. I spotted that one a few years ago. Ability to store your recipes locally is a big plus, you never know when the internet could go down. Unfortunately for me ejuicemeup is a windows app. I do run windows when I absolutely have to but I'm a Linux guy. :)

Getting some flavor bases and favorites transferred to the glass bottles today. Ha, trying to get a little better organized!

VirtualBox man! I have a virtual WinXP machine that runs great on my Mac.. I use it for some outdated software that controls/edits some of my MIDI synthesizers among other things, and the ejuice calc works great..

Welp, I couldn't sleep last night so I spent the time making up some juices. My RY4 ADV, Strawberries and Cream, Peppermint Patty, Dragons Blood and a Peach Starburst. It had been 12 hours so I was tasting the juices for my notes.

RY4- Great smooth caramel flavor as usual
Strawberries & Cream - No taste at all
Dragons Blood - No taste at all
Peach Starburst - No taste at all
Peppermint Patty - Slight peppermint taste

Needless to say I was quite discouraged with the results and was going to toss it all but my daily vape when my wife walked by and asked what the smell was. So I had her taste each one and she was blown away by each. Except the RY4 which she said was too strong and left a nasty taste in her mouth.

I feel like I am at an impasse here. How do you make juice if you can't taste it???? Do I just vape the RY4 till I can taste one of these other juices? I enjoy making the juices. But, my wife still smokes. So it isn't like have anyone to make juice for except myself. And, like I said I am retired and on a budget so I don't think I am in a position to make large batches of juice for any of the local B&Ms.

Any input from someone who has been here would be greatly appreciated.

Your taste will return in time, or some/all of it will. Most of us go through the whole vapor tongue issue during the first six months. I used cinnamon, and still do, as I could taste it. Still my ADV. Try inhaling fresh ground coffee before trying juices. Google "resettiong the palatte." There are many ways to do this, and yet not all work for everyone, but you may find one that works for you. Kinda the whole Sorbet thing, but with vaping. Also, you can search ECF, as this is NOT an uncommon problem. Drink lots of water, hit the coffee grounds, switch flavorings frequently, try strong flavorings like cinnamon and menthol. In time, this will resolve itself. Good luck! :toast: :D

I just wanted to pop in, as someone recently posted their recipes on a site I had never heard of, dot1ml. I added my only "winner" recipes, and included the link in my signature too. I just thought the site was very easy to use, and sharing is always fun! It apparently connects with EjuiceMeUp. I've never used a calculator, but I'm always posting my recipes here on the TFA thread rather than writing them down, and then doing a Google search to find them again  Maybe EjMU already has a "share my recipes" option, but either way, this site's pretty cool. Down/upload to EjMU, if that's an attractive feature to anyone (hint hint, Bill, cough 'em up! :p)

Also... it turns out, Bulk Apothecary is in my backyard! The drive to Streetsboro (whose outskirts I used to live in, btw) from Akron is maybe 20, 25 minutes. I will definitely be taking a trip there some time! No shipping costs for pounds of PG and VG for me!

Happy vaping, all :vapor: :toast:

All, very good advice. I struggled with this problem myself for months, not even really aware of it as a problem -- the Virginia I got from MFS was just close enough to the taste of the Slims that it made a good substitute. and that was all I required.

But after my appendectomy, trying very hard to get back to smoke-free vape-only, I started going up the road to the Vaping Shack, tasting other flavors, and happened to find one called Blueberry Muffin, by Hard Rock Vapor -- and it just blew me away. It took only about another 2-3 wks before I was vaping it almost exclusively, and the Virginia really started tasting bad to me. I think this was when my tastebuds first started waking up, maybe August. 3.5 months smoke-free, a month of light smoking after my surgery, though I never did stop vaping, then back to smoke-free -- all the changes kinda alerted my tastebuds that something new and different was going on.

All that is why a) I really couldn't get into DIY very much, and b) when I did try a DIY juice now and then, it just didn't taste like much of anything to me, or it tasted really bad. Till I FINALLY made this strawberries and cream that has become my ADV, I thought all ejuice would be nearly without taste, just a nice smell -- wrong! :D

It does take a little while, and it's infuriating, but eventually the tastebuds do recover, even from my own 39 years of smoking, sometimes quite heavily (there were several years of 3pks a day). But don't give up; keep trying, and a) the buds do recover eventually, and b) as you keep trying, you naturally get better at it. And the more different flavors from different manufacturers you try, the more you will know which ones suit your taste, which ones don't. Thank god, the flavors aren't terribly expensive!

Lucky You! Vape Apothecary shipping is more than the base carrier cost, which is dirt cheap! :toast:

I'm perfectly happy to post my recipes right here on this thread. Since there are so many different ways of disseminating these, different calculators, etc., I think I've done about all I'm going to do with the posts and blogs, though I will continue to add posts and blogs as they come about and appear to be helpful to others. My only mission here is to help the new DIY'ers get up and running with their own juice ASAP so they can save some money (?), find their ADV's quickly and easily, substitute vaping for smoking, leading to better health, and dispel some of the many myths surrounding making juice by de-mystifying the process. The truth is that anyone can learn to make great juice with a little time, effort, and investment. In time, juice making becomes a wonderful hobby and helps to replace "smoking time" with a productive, creative, positive outlet and new hobby. Over time, vaping and juice making is an affordable hobby and endeavor and less expensive than smoking....again, over time.....Initially, of course, it's not inexpensive at all...getting all setup. However, the investment is what kept me at it when I ran into disappointments and setbacks initially. I had too large of an investment to quit trying to figure it out, and in time, I did discover, for me, at least, the tricks to making great juice. I also learned that there are several different ways to go about making juice, and many are quite passionate about "their way!"

If I can help anyone learn a thing to two, perhaps a little easier, or a little quicker, then I will have achieved my goals for this thread, and to Pay It Forward, which is important to me, as I am quite grateful to all the folks that helped me along the way, maybe saving and prolonging my life, but certainly taking my health in a vastly better direction. I thank you all for that. In the process, I've met some really great folks who are generous and giving of their time and their experience, and without regard as to what they get out of it. Paying it Forward just feels better than doing nothing to me. So, I'm glad to share and help out anyone that I can. Drop me a PM anytime, anyone, and if I can help, I'm happy to do so. We have a wonderful community of like-minded folks here, and I'm glad to be a part of it! Good luck to you all! Vape On! Vape it Forward!!! :toast: :D

I recently joined the forum. In fact, this is my first post outside the new member "sandbox." Anyway, I have read almost this entire thread. Bravo! You guys rock for sharing your information about TFA flavors and recipes. I have learned a lot from you.

I ordered a whole bunch of flavors from TFA this week and have started tinkering with recipes. I feel like I have cheated a bit because I have tried a few of the recipes you folks have mentioned here and gotten good results already.

I am especially thankful to Bill's Magic Vapor for sharing his recipes and expertise. I have already tried a few of his recipes and have just ordered the ingredients for a few more.I I've been vaping his "Cinnamon Danish" recipe all day. Yum!!

Thanks to all of you for helping me get started with making my own DIY ejuices. As I continue to tinker with recipes, I will report my own results.

What a great community this is!

Thank you.

I agree with all the above -- I'm quite sure that my own breakthru with DIY is due almost entirely to this thread, and Bill -- primarily for the RADICAL idea of using ENOUGH flavoring that it doesn't have to sit there for a week or a month before it tastes like anything.

Also the creams and vanillas to support the main flavor(s), massively helpful info!! Hugs and handshakes for everyone, because you sure have helped me!!!
