Moving my yet-unused sampler-sized flavor concentrates to glass vials...

flavor-vials_20150221_092546_zpsdntckwt4.png

Not suggesting anyone do what I do... I had bought these for a different purpose but since I have them around.... and in case any of this is interesting...

Vials - they're 12ml/3 dram borosilicate, ~$27/100 (.27 apiece) from Amazon -- 15/425 cap threading -- Linky

Caps - 15/425 - these are PTFE-lined and fit the vials above. Linky
There are also poly-cone insert versions of these at Discount Vials and elsewhere...

Tray - 40 vial - fits 16-20mm vials. From Amazon. Linky

Looking good Nic-holio!! I just made an order to get all my 4oz flavorings into amber glass. Not sure what the plan is for a smaller size to work out of. I don't want to be making juice out of 120ml bottles, but with the 2dram vials, I find myself having to refill them almost after every mix. Was thinking about 15ml glass bottles, but you may be on to something with the 3 dram glass vials.

Thanks Stacy1. I bought those glass vials when I first got started, thinking of something I could use to heat steep with when doing flavor/recipe testing. I didn't want to heat stuff up in plastic bottles. And then I discovered Bill's Magic Vapor's posts here, and I left heat steeping by the wayside. :)

What I was thinking with these vials was mixing up as much as 5ml of a liquid, or possibly having 1 liquid at let's say 10% of a certain flavor percent, and having another mix in another vial at 15% of a flavor percent -- and being able pour one vial into another to have as much as 10ml and get 12.5% just by combining equal parts of the two, rather than having to measure it all out again.

And still having room in the vial to shake it all up. :)

And being able to stick them in a toaster oven or a crock pot of water or something, and heat them up for a while without worry about what might leech into or out of the plastic bottle...

So I haven't been using the glass vials for what I intended to originally -- but they're still proving useful in other ways. :)

Great thing about glass is the ability to clean them out very thoroughly and not have traces of the last flavor/liquid left behind in the container.

OK this is totally experimental at this point - but it definitely has potential. It's where I'm at with this idea right now, and getting ready to try some kind of a vanilla and/or cream add-in to see what happens. But even without it, this is pre-TEE darn interesting -- especially since I have not really steeped this at all. I am assuming DK Tobacco needs to probably steep a while but I am already liking this enough to mix some "leaded" and vape it!

Developing at 60% VG / 40% PG -. it's what works best for me right now with my current (n00b) skill level in wicking my RTA

DK Tobacco 3%
Coconut (Extra) 5%
Caramel 5%

I still have some twiddling to do but this gets me in the ballpark for that Dekang tobacco flavor I loved with some of the first e-liquids I bought.

PS: leaving flavor percentage room for fillers/enhancers like Cotton Candy, a Vanilla and/or Cream, etc. Let's just say I'm "really excited" about how this is going so far. LOL.

I was super excited this afternoon to see that BCV already shipped the order I placed last night -- I just love online companies that understand that Saturday is NOT a special day, and ship orders that day.

I'm also excited about that malted milk flavor I ordered; my Smoky Cappucino is prtty good, but I think that malt flavor is all that separates it from being an ersatz Long Bottom Leaf.

If anybody happens to have all these flavors and wouldn't mind trying this, I'm curious what others who like DK Tobacco as a flavoring would think of this:

3% DK Tobacco
5% Coconut (Extra)
5% Caramel
4% Cotton Candy
4% Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

I am liking it a lot. :)

I'm not suggesting you go out and buy flavors to try this, especially if you have not had DK Tobacco in a juice before and don't know if you like it. I am a DIY noob -- but I do like that Dekang tobacco flavor, and this tastes pretty good to me. This was vaped more or less right out of the can - just a brief sit in some warm/hot water.

Feedback, mockery, derision, or adjustment suggestions welcome!

I see Cream Cheese Icing gets shout outs alot in this thread... whats a good recipe with this flavor?

Works great with pastry vapes and similar desert type flavorings. I use it both with CCI and without, and don't have a preference. The CCI is good at low levels, say 1% -2%. I have blogs about recipes that I use this with if you need to see some different uses. Also, CCI is good with cakes, danishes, etc. CCI can quickly take over the mix at higher levels. Good luck! :toast: :D

I was playing around with Bill's Lemon Meringue Pie and was looking around the net to find away to boost the lemon. I know the lemon is already at 12% but hey I wanted in your face lemon. SO I came across a recipe by HeadInClouds on a different site and in the comments HIC said you could use Key Lime at 0.5% to boost the lemon. So I mixed up a new test batch and gave it a try. Well I left it on the desk where all the on going testing samples sit and the next day the wife starts testing juice and she gets to this one; let me just say the lemon was to strong :D So does it work YES but be careful for what you ask for as you might get it.

We stopped by Hobby Lobby today so my husband could pick up one of the "coin books" he uses (he's a coin/currency collector), so I checked to see if they had the CCI, since they carry Lorann flavors, but alas, they did not. :(

I found another place to buy it, actually a better price than ECX's: LorAnn Oils Gourmet Flavorings . I'll wait a few more days and see if ECX ever gets it in, and if not, will probably order from netrition. That other link someone posted was a great price, but since I've never tried it, don't really want to buy 4oz right off the bat. Mainly I want it to try and perk up this blah 'basic cheesecake' I mixed up a few weeks ago; it's not *bad* but really really blah. The CCI seems like a good addition to make it really pop.

Haha,i imagine that wasn't too pleasant.I tried it 1 time,i was using Bill's starburst recipe, only he used strawberry,i think it was like 8%,i wanted a cherry starburst so i followed that recipe but subbed that cherry instead,at that 8% it felt like it was melting my taste buds haha, horrible burning alcohol, almost like robitussin taste.

I dont have that Dk tobacco yet,but i'll add it to my next order on thursday and give this a shot.My wife just started to get interested in vaping,so all she wants right now is tobacco flavors,so this will be a good one for her to try out,and i still like a good tobacco vape every now and then,so it may work out really well haha.

I see Cream Cheese Icing gets shout outs alot in this thread... whats a good recipe with this flavor?

If you have the red velvet cake flavor, there is a recipe i found online that i posted in here a few pages back.It uses the cci at 6%,but it blends very well with the red velvet, tastes exactly like a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing.
