@stonebrew43 - I too am trying to create some tobacco flavours, not so much for myself but for an in-law who will be visiting in July... so I'm thinking ahead so I can steep before she comes.

I've just been looking at some reviews on the TPA site which might give you some ideas:

Perfumer's Apprentice
Perfumer's Apprentice

There is also this of course - unless you have already seen it.

    Somewhere between here and there
I have been trying to create a very plain, basice, "cigarette-esque" flavor for my dad and I just can't seem to get it down. I'm working with dk 555, western(cowboy), and M-type (I also have double RY4 but i'm trying to avoid sweetness). Is there any other ingredient I could add that would enhance the tobacco flavor without adding extra sweetness, or better yet remove some of the already present sweetness in these tobacco flavors?

Also, since this is my first post here, I want to say thanks to everybody participating in this thread. The tips and advice I've read here has vastly improved my DIY abilities.

I bought tobacco absolute that I dilute and then use in one of my mixes. Maybe that would help with the tobacco taste.

Yes, Tobacco Absolute would be my suggestion too; but be careful with it, it's a very short step, with TA, from "smoky" to "licking an ashtray".

Another suggestion -- I use some Capella Hazelnut v2, and it smells a bit smoky to me; there's very definitely some acetyl pyrazine in that, and it does have a very slight smokiness to it, when used in small doses.

Hangsen Tobacco flavors are the easiest I have found to work with. They work well as stand alone or mixing with other flavors. You could look in the Hangsen DIY thread or PM Danny45. He is the Hangsen Tobacco expert in my opinion.

In case anyone is interested, My Freedom Smokes is having a sale on their DIY flavors. 50% off. They don't have a huge selection but I did pick up 9 TFA flavors that I use on a regular basis. 15ml for $2.22 each. The sale also includes 20% off glassware. Got several 125 ml in both glass and HDPE.

I should also mention I received a tracking number 21 minutes after placing the order. Not sure how long it will take to actually reach the post office but still 21 minutes is awesome.

I wrote here yesterday that I just received my Kayfun v4 clone. The flavour on this atty is so intense I think it's going to change my DIY habits. I'm a fan of Bill's high flavour juices... most often close to 30% but on the Kayfun that is becoming a little too much. I think I'm going to start mixing flavours as per usual percentages but then adding them to the base at something closer to 20%, in some cases even less.

The package wasn't necessarily handed in at the post office. It is my understanding that most businesses purchase their postage online and print it themselves. In the case of tracked packages, the process would include the tracking number.

I very often come across this message when a I start tracking a package the moment I receive the number (talk about impatience! ) : Information Received (This is not an acknowledgement of the physical receipt of the stated Registered Article)

Yeah all that means is the shipping label was printed and the number is now in the system for tracking. Doesnt necessarily mean USPS has picked it up or its been dropped off at the PO yet. My last order of batteries from Illum.com, got my tracking number a couple hours after I placed it, wasnt even picked up by the PO until the next day.

I got a tracking number for something on the 11th... only to find out this morning, after several increasingly-hostile emails from me, that the item is out of stock and backordered, should be in stock by the end of the month.

Getting the tracking number means NOTHING. Seeing "out for delivery" might give you some optimism, but it should be cautious optimism -- the USPS might deliver it to the wrong address. :D

Yes, I understand that. Been getting vape mail since 2010. Point I was making is I got a tracking number that fast. Usually just get an email confirming the order was placed.

I went to the site out of curiosity. I never order anything from the US because the shipping costs would offset any bargains I might find there. I noticed some hardware is marked Sale.

Took me a bit to figure it out. I got the notice from both "vape deals" and "vaping cheap". they send out daily summaries of promotions. I couldn't find a MFS email in my trash and thought something was up. but like I said 50% off concentrates and 20% off DIY gear. no code needed the discount will appear after you load an item in your cart. sorry for any confusion.

my shipping was less than $6.00. seems reasonable considering I'm getting a dozen 125 ml bottles and 9 15 ml bottles of flavors. but, I have no idea what shipping to Malta would be.

Thank you guys for the input on the tobacco flavors. Maybe I'm just using too much flavoring, which could be contributing to the sweetness. Seems like every tobacco flavoring I've tried so far has some underlying sweetness to it (M-type seems to have the least). Most people suggest very low flavor percentages and I've been mixing dk555 and M-type at 10%-15%. Personally I don't really care for straight tobacco flavors, But I enjoy good RY4's with vanilla or nutty notes. So making a straight plain tobacco flavor is a bit of a challenge. Maybe with my next order I'll try some tobacco absolute and give that a go. I appreciate the advice everyone!

    Have you considered using NET'?

While these have inherent issues with particulate residue as they are extracts, however they yield the most accurate tobacco flavors and accents. :thumb:

You also do not have use a lot to get "that" tobacco flavor, usually no more than 5% at the very most...
