Mt Baker, which sells mostly TFA flavoring, says they use 15% to 40% of a given flavoring to create e-juice. (They're talking about single-flavor e-juice, not mixed recipes.) This is way higher than the suggested starting points on the three different starting-point lists for TFA flavorings I've looked at. Does MtB dilute their TFA flavorings? (If it's at all relevant, they sell 15ml of TFA flavoring for $3.) Anyone have a clue how they come up with such high percentages of flavoring?

Nope. Mt baker uses and sells Flavor West.

@ItTechy I think I have my "winner, winner, rumchata dinner"!!!!

Horchata (CAP) 11%
Jamaican Rum 6%
Bavarian Cream 5%
French Vanilla Deluxe 5%
Cinnamon 5%
Sweetener 3-4%

I call it "Maria's Rumchata" :). I will also do a variation with French Vanilla Creme, just for variety

The State of Confusion
Just about all flavors, unless specifically marked otherwise, are basically 100% Pg... sure, some of that 100% is the flavor itself, but it's impossible to know exactly what % of chemical is the actual flavor chemical. Some will also contain grain alcohol or other chemicals (triacetin, etc), but again, impossible to know the actual %. But unless you shop the specifically VG-based flavors, it's pretty safe to take it as a given that a flavor is 100% PG.

The amount of actual active ingredients will be essentially the same so in fact no reduction.

But as always--it's your choice--it's all good.

Hmph. I never really looked at it that way, but that's probably accurate.

I do also like to add the least amount of flavoring possible because I (usually) prefer a nice, thick, very high VG liquid... so that's part of the reason I was asking too.

Does everyone here generally just buy straight from the TFA/TPA website when buying their flavors?

I usually get mine from bullcityvapor.com -- I don't yet have a wholesale acct at TPA/TFA, so I can actually get a better price at BCV; plus, TPA/TFA doesn't offer 30ml bottles, which BCV does. With TPA/TFA, you're stuck with either 15ml, or if you get a wholesale acct, you can get big whopping bottles, probably for a much better price, but 30ml does me fine for a good while.

Question for Bill. I've been making my own juice for about 6 months now. I usually use Flavor Art, with a few TFA and CAP flavors in the mix, but I want to expand my TFA flavors. I've already found you 25 must have flavors in your files and I'm going to order them today. I was wondering what you 5 favorite recipes were so I could make sure I have the flavors for them. I like the sound of your Peach Cobbler and will be trying that. Can you suggest a few more? Thanks.
My five favorite flavors would be:

Cinnamon Danish
Peach Cobbler
Oreo's and Cream
One of my lemon recipes (not lemonade)
One of my Chocolate recipes

Hard to limit it to just five, for me. The Apple Jacks is good. Just depends on my mood. I usually keep ten or so tanks ready to vape, so I'm not really limited to anything, at any time. I recently added a dozen Taifun GT V2's to the shop (AFC), and I'm liking trying the mixes with them. With air flow control and variable wattage/voltage, I can really dial in the flavoring to where I like it. I haven't mixed anything new for a while, other than the Lion recipe. I'm thinking I want to come up with a delicious cherry flavoring next. I just need more time in my schedule these days. Good luck in your DIY adventure. Once you can see the flavor patterns in the mixes, you can literally mix up anything, and very quickly too. 95% of the time, you can make a mix on paper, long before getting into the lab and know what it will taste like. I have friends send me commercial mixes all the time, and I can sometimes copy them, or even improve them, to suit my tastes. Otherwise, I would not have any idea what's going on in the flavor world. Been away from commercial juices too long. But I've already made my favorite flavorings, and shared them with you. Enjoy! :toast: :D

Thanks for the reply Bill. I placed my order earlier today, but I did manage to pick a few that you just posted. I order the 25 flavors you listed in your DropBox download. I also made sure I had the flavors for Cinnamon Danish, Peach Cobbler, Key Lime Pie, Peanut Butter Cup, and Dutch Apple Pie ala Mode. I'm really looking forward to trying out these new flavors and seeing how I can get them and the FA flavors to work together.

Nope. Mt baker uses and sells Flavor West.

This explains it, then. Flavor West's smallest bottle is 4 oz. of flavoring -- for one flavor I checked, the cost of 4 oz. was only $7+. My presumption that Mt Baker uses TFA was a mistake. I have a batch of TFA flavors from Wizard Labs, and they ID the manufacturer for each flavor at their website. I'm too new at DYI to make any useful comparisons between the MtB and the Wizard flavors I've used, but the message at MtB did get me thinking: "We recommend the concentrated e-juice flavoring to be mixed at 15% - 40% with Unflavored Nicotine Juice" (cut & pasted from their site).

Thank you, Gannon!

If you find some flavor west stuff you want to try, bull city sells them as well as most of the other brands,so you can try a variety of brands and only have 1 shipping fee..If you find any tfa flavors that you really like, you can get a free bulk account direct through tfa,and most of their 4oz. bottles range from $5-$9 each, best way to go if you find a flavor you will use alot of.

I just got a gallon of VG, my new 120ml cobalt boston rounds, and stocking up on nic in the freezer... I now have nearly 40 different flavors but even still, with all I have collected, I feel like an amature. After seeing pics of all your "juice stations", I have my mind set on getting one of my own.. but for now, my new (and much bigger than my USPS version) Amazon box will have to due. But these 120ml cobalts do make me feel pretty legit! Indiana will NEVER stop me!!!! lol :vapor::thumbs:

I use mostly TFA, followed by a bit of CAP, and just a few FW.
However, the FW Butter Pecan is a must have on my list.
Good to know.I have thought about trying their butter pecan, but i had some pecan flavoring from totally wicked, and it was so bad to me i almost puked haha,so i've been leary of anything pecan flavor since then, but i love butter pecan ice cream,so i'll give their flavor a try.
I started with LorAnn and CAP. CAP vanilla custard and wild cherry are super IMO. I have leaned on TFA because of the massive list if recipes and the ease of following Bill's mixing philosophy....
I started out with tfa,and got lucky in finding alot that i like,so i have just stuck with them for the most part.I have tried several flavors from flavor west, and found a few good ones like yellow cake, and a few others, the only ones i have really liked from capella is definitely the vanilla custard, and their horchata, the others i have tried from them just don't seem to do it for me,i'll have to try their wild cherry though.Lorann's is the same way, most i have tried from them i didn't like at all,but their lemonade is very good, gotta have the cream cheese icing, and their tart and sour is pretty useful.
