I will be trying my first DIY soon. I found a Fruity COPYRIGHTDMCA recipe in this thread that I would like to try.
Fruity COPYRIGHTDMCA:
Fruit Circles 8%
Berry Crunch 5%
Cotton Candy 4%
Sweetener 4%
Vanilla Swirl 3%
Bavarian Cream 3%
Dulce de Leche 3%

So I have all those flavors in 10ml bottles in my cart. I also have 60mg of 36mg/ml nicotine in PG and 120ml of VG and 60ml of PG. I have a few questions, though...
1. Can I dilute the nic PG with the VG to bring it down to 3mg/ml?
2. If so, should I not get the PG and just get more VG?
3. Should I mix with the nicotine first or leave it out and just get the hang of mixing for now?
4. Is there anything else I should purchase (just talking about liquids and flavorings, not hardware/supplies) to get started?

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Somewhere between here and there
I always mix the flavors first then add nic and VG or pg. I keep some of both pg and VG on hand. I tend to jump around some on my ratio. Sometimes I mix 70vg and 30pg and other times I mix closer to 50/50. It's just personal preference and equipment being used. Down the road you'll put in many more orders for flavors as you go so I wouldn't worry too much about adding more unless there's more you want to try to make. I'm up to over 70 flavors now and still find I'm missing some.

I would like to stay at 70VG/30PG at least, maybe higher VG if I can. And yes, 60ml of 36mg/ml nic in PG, but from playing around on steam engine, I think I should change that to a lower nic level and get it in VG in order to maintain the higher final VG ratio I want, right? But even putting in 100% VG nic on there it still says I can't get to 70VG/30PG 3mg/ml at the end.

What PG/VG ratio are you going to make your liquid? That may determine what would be easier for your nic base to be.

Also, about your Nic...you meant 60mL of 36mg/mL, right?

I said it says it's not possible. It's pretty close. It says I need -.01ml of PG. If I change it to 69VG/31PG, it says I need +.09 PG. So would the 70/30 be close enough with 100% VG nic at 36mg/ml?

Are you sure it recognized that you changed your Nic base to 100% VG? You have exactly 30% of flavorings, so with your Nic base changed to 100% VG...it should work then. I'd doublecheck to see that you indicated that your flavorings are PG based.

I'd use what it says on that page, and then just add the little 0.01mL more PG when you make it if it has to be exact for your own purposes. If not, don't sweat it!

If you look over at the far left, where you chose to use mL of nic rather than by weight...it shows you that little .01 difference in the density. No problem, IMO.

Okay, thanks. I didn't catch that.

First of all, you need to download the e-juice me up calculator or one of your choice
eJuice Me Up - Best eJuice Calculator (free)
Now, you need to try creating a recipe in it.
You will learn how using different percentages for pg, vg, and flavoring can change the way you mix the recipe.

#1. If, you cut your nic base to 3mg, you will find that you cannot create a recipe, because by the time you add everything else like the pg, vg, and flavoring that recipe calls for, your base will be diluted to 0 if you using a 3mg base nic, and the calculator will throw up red flags.
You have to take into account everything else you are adding, there is no way you can use a 3mg nic base and end up with a 3mg juice.
You nic base has to be about 4-5 times higher, than what you want to end up with.
Besides, ...a high nic base is much easier to work with, requires a smaller amount in the recipe, and leaves you room to play with everything else in the recipe.
And .. always be sure you have a bottle of pg, and one of vg setting around, ready to grab.
You will learn a lot, and real fast when you practice creating recipes on a calculator.
It will answer a lot of your questions, and it's fun.

#3. It take me about 5 minutes to add everything a recipe calls for into the bottle, so to me, it doesn't make a difference what goes in first .. it all get shook up immediately anyway.
The only thing I would suggest is to make it a routine, so that you do the same thing, the same way each time .. that way you are less likely to make a mistake, or forget something.

DIY will save you a lot of $$$, and it's really simple when you get right down to it.
    Enjoy

according to what you have, you should be just fine. Did you hit calculate again when you changed it to 100%vg?

I did. I guess it must be that .01 margin of error that JCinFLA mentioned earlier. I think I can live with that.

So I made up my 4th 500 ml bottle of peanut brittle using cotton candy instead of sweet flavor and I can say it for sure runs quite a bit cleaner. It tastes only slightly different.
(as other's said it would).....or is it my 5th?

It's my ADV and it's in 2 different tanks - each having it's own flavors come through :)

    500ML? I thought I was half nuts making 177ML (6 ounce) batches.

Mind posting the peanut brittle recipe? I've struggled with peanut butter recipes.

Shake and Vape or what is the recommended steep time? You are making huge batches so I'm guessing you steep for awhile?

Thanks for the recipe, I'm going to mix up a batch for this weekend. I think I killed my taste buds last night playing with Orange and Cream.....
