The Northwest Indian Tribes stand to profit a bunch. They already sell smokes and fireworks (or did when I was growing up there).

I grew up and went to school in Puyallup and we made a weekly visit to the Puyallup "smoke shops" that were on reservation. The Puyallup tribe wasn't legally supposed to sell to non-tribe members but who were they to give up revenue while giving the big double eagle to the white man in power.

Maybe ProVape needs to make a pact with some of Chief Seattle's people and move "on reservation". Kind of hard to ban internet sales and tax sales of a product coming from another sovereign nation.....

And to be honest...the 75% tax is not targeted at ProVape or even higher end equipment. The numbers just aren't there. It's the blu's and the N-joys they're looking at. Yes ProVape is going to be adversely affected. A 75% hike in a ProVari would be devastating...more so than a 75% hike on an N-joy.

Point is, if ProVape moved on reservation, the tax revenue lost from the state would be so insignificant as to even make anyone look twice.

They could even open a state of the art ProVari factory direct showroom....right next to the casino....

Easy. They can sell. $169 empty cardboard shipping box. And a $0.01 ProVari. Only the ProVari would be taxed

Then again, does the tax only affect product itself or complete order? In other words, is the item taxed before or after shipping and handling? See where I'm going with this?

Guys,

Now that Washington legislators in their "infinite wisdom" have levied a 75% tax on e-cigs and e-cig equipment, how will this affect you business?

I'm pretty sure that most of your customers are "out of state" but I don't know if the tax affects everything "sold" or just everything bought from a Washington Resident.

Also it appears that a 75% tax on the ProVari would make the ProVari out of reach for many folks.

I guess there is one silver lining. A lot of people will be getting their ProVari orders in before the enforcement of the tax.

[EDIT]: Just ordered my second one this morning.....

Thanks.

I'm there with you, as I just received my second ProVari from the mail guy today. :)

Here's a quote from Peraspera in the "The end of the Provari??? 95% WA state tax!" thread. I bolded some of the text.
Unless something in the bill changed in committee online sales would be prohibited. Also, the tax is on inventory, not on retail sales. Vendors would also have to pay the 75% tax on all their current inventory. This bill is so onerous that ecig vendors would be forced to either shut down or move to another state. Big tobacco will make out like bandits. They would be able to force their dealers to carry their junk ecigs or face being cut off from their cigarette supply. Big pharma also will do well as no tax on prescription ecigs opens the door very wide for them to offer e-cigs that are as overpriced as their other nicotine replacement products.

So far, the bill has only passed the House Finance Committee. It needs to pass the full House and Senate as well as being signed by the governor to become law. However, politicians know that passing this type of legislation means nice fat campaign donations from big pharma and big tobacco so it is very important that vapers weigh in on this issue.

It looks like this tax proposal is dead for this year. It will probably be back in some form next year though, so we need to stay vigilant.

I'd like to know where you are getting this information. CASAA still shows an active call to action. I don't have any information on the bill.

Does the tax included everything e cig related or only e liquid? Since the e liquid is the only thing containing the nicotine? Nope head buried in sand haven't seen much on any of this sorry don't flog me I'm new!

Everything. There was whispers in the forum last night that the bill is dead though. Remains to be seen

MBV will certainly feel the squeeze if on juice. They have a strong following, I assume mainly because of their low price point (I tried it once, never went back).

Interesting. I strictly vape MBV. What do you use? I only vape 100% VG.
PG gives me a nasty dry mouth and throat. I've also heard rumors, (just rumors mind you) that it can increase the effects of tenitis. Doubt I spelled that right but its the thing where your ears start ringing

Lol. Obviously who ever started that rumor lacks basic knowledge of human anatomy & probably what actually causes tinnitus. Or maybe just watched too many cartoons & thinks we actually can blow smoke out of our ears.
