I have spent well over a $100 dollars on nasty e-liquid, which I will never use

I was thinking if we all chip in a few bucks we will be able to order every liquid from every supplier

We should pick the 10 most senior members on this forum who still post on a weekly basis (TropicalBob, Leaford, Kate, etc)

Send the order to one member who does a critic on taste, viscosity, quality, etc;
Then they send the order out to the next member on the list

This way we can see what supplier has the best quality liquids and flavors

I'm sure if we get smokey joe to send out a mass email to members who no longer post here we might even raise enough money to get an independent lab analysis on the different suppliers liquid

I see this as a huge cost savings, instead of just spending money blindly we will all have a definitive guide to eliquid taste and safety

Who's in?

Everyones tastes vary so much. I've bought several flavors that others have recommended and I find gross (i.e. Pina Colada..bleh!). Then, there's many people who don't care for my favorite flavor.

It might be cool if there could be a clear winner, but each pallet is different. Taste, like art, is subjective. One flavor that seems to be liked across the board is the Riskee/RY4.

Between all the members here I'm sure everyone has tried each of the flavors at least once. Maybe start new threads for each supplier and ask members to describe flavors of each liquid and rate from 1 to 10.

I'm definitely in favor of lab tests though! I think we've got a couple ingredient lists, but I'd love to have a complete list of all of them and what's included!

(p.s. I'm sure Kate, TB, and Leaford won't be opposed to sending them each flavor though..lol)

Well I don't mean this to be a test as in what's better MLB or clove

I want it to be more like, this is the best MLB, this is the best clove
Individual taste does matter, I agree
But I value some opinions over others
A consensus is a guide not an absolute truth

I would love to do an independent lab study on who's juice is the safest
If we can get some cost ideas up that would be great

My aunt works in a lab for a hospital, doubt she can do it though

But I would rather chip in some money for an inclusive test then waist hundreds of dollars doing it on my own.

(I'm not even half way through the Janty liquid and I was going to start ordering from other people, but now I'm like what's the point)

Well actually I'm really not good at reviews and I'm pretty awful at describing flavour. I'd not be much good to you I'm afraid.

Lab tests would be good.

Your too modest, as I said I've only made myself half way through Janty flavor

So far I agree 100% with your Janty review

I mentioned your name because I was lurking this forum since Sep.

Back then there were a bunch of names posting but very few post now-a-days
That's why I suggest the most senior members who still actively post

Come on Kate you know you are a supa star, stop being modest

Kate's new avatar.

I'm flattered (I think) but agree that tastes are so different that any kind of subjective guide would be difficult to compile. This is like testing red wine. Formidable task and who else detects a "smoky afterglow on the palate that mingles with the essence of fine ..."

To me, it's useable or it's not.

Kate has posted her reviews and I've pretty well written that I favor RY4 above all others, with secondary awards to Janty's Cappuccino and Coffee flavors, But, remember, I really like coffee! That influences my opinion, I'm sure. Kate has tried more Janty flavors than I have. Early on, I tasted every flavor offered by E-Cig. Flue-cured was the standout. I found ginseng, rose and green tea to be dreadful.

So TB and Kate and Leaford are oldtimers, eh? Maybe we're just more stubborn than those who joined, posted and disappeared into the ether.:?:

No, I want a comparison
Apples to apples
oranges to oranges
Not oranges to BBQ ribs

I think a user funded independent lab analysis of different e-liquids is a great idea, dependent upon cost

Yeah TB you desrve a walker, it's almost been a full year- you sure are an old timer
(in e-cig yrs 2weeks is a teen, 6months is over the hill)

I think every person has a different taste and has different likings K-Sound Krew - I could say I find something to have the taste of an old and long-worn sock; while you could describe the same liquid as being an exquisite liquid, very full of delicious flavor...
I really think that finding your taste just can't be done by others - you can get some idea of what it might be like, from knowing that a certain person 'generally likes the same as you'... but that's it, in my opinion...
Also, for most of us, at least I think so, it's an important part of the fun, once e-smoking, to try out all those flavours, to find our own likings that way (and, on a sidenote, it might also be important in establishing new habits and rituals, that can truly substitute those we had with smoking... take an important part like this 'exploring' we are doing away, and you might find that it's a lot harder to get the mind away from the habits and rituals we want to leave behind...
All just my opinion of course :)

A cop could have the liquid tested for free as a suspicious substance

Somehow this idea strikes me as not-good.

But as to a taste test, I could imagine doing it on a small scale, like several brands of one flavor at a time, but the methodology would be a challange. How do you avoid contaminating the flavors? Do you use a brand new atomizer for each? What device do you use? Some people report that some devices bring out the flavors more, and fo course a bad atomizer can tste foul.

But in any case I've never thought I had a very discerning sense of taste, and most e-liquid flavors are pretty weak to my taste, which is why I tend to stick to Red Cow. And since I never liked tobacco flavors anyway, I'd be totally useless for those. So, I'm out.
