I'm a HUGE fan of coconut oil! I always have a big tub of it in my freezer. For months now every morning I put a couple of tablespoons in my coffee. I use it as a pre-wash hair conditioner, sun tan oil, burn relief, bug bites...just anything and everything. I consider coconut oil a miracle product. I use the Nutiva brand.

Ever thought about using coconut oil? It's one of the healthiest things you can eat. http://wellnessmama.com/5734/101-uses-for-coconut-oil/

I will have to look into that. I generally use olive oil, but it generally doesn't do well with frying a lot of portions in a row.

189.5 this morning. Not terribly bad, considering the last two days have been Jalapeño - Cheese Hot Dogs (love 'em) and Chicken Strips.
Easier to eat sensibly at home. Had Chicken Corn Chowder soup for late lunch, fills me up without all of the Fat and calories. Might try to get back to my stretching exercises later today. These old bones just want to rebel in the wintertime. Fruit and breakfast drinks are still my hold-overs, though I am considering some Saltines & Peanut Butter for occasional hunger killers.
It took a while to get to this weight, it'll take awhile to get rid of it.

3 mile run, 1 mile walk. Ball exercises and planks.

5 days I've stuck with the ball exercises and planks. How many days to make a habit? 21 right? Sigh.. I've got some work to do to make it a habit.

4 miles done.

I figured out that the full plank is killing either my back or that nerve in my leg. Just tried it and the opposite side of my surgery incision just pulled the hell out of that muscle. So I am going to stick to modified plank. I can feel the pull in my stomach muscles so they are getting a workout.

They'll get easier before you know it Bridget :) a couple months ago I couldn't hold a plank about 20 seconds. Now I'm at a minute and a half. Hoping to work towards 5

Holy crap! I only ever got to 1 minute on regular plank! The ball exercises are getting easier. I do regular and side crunches on it, and 4 other exercises, then plank. I love the ball because it keeps me off the floor (mostly).

Yeah, I have a lot of joint issues, and nearly any kind of exercise, while it might be good for me aerobically, it just hell on my joints. Swimming isn't. I keep saying I'm going to join the Y, they have a pool, but I never seem to get there and actually join.

Maybe yoga could be something I could do, for more mobility without so much joint strain. About 20 yrs ago I got interested in tai chi, but never did finish learning all the positions.

I've never had much trouble with my weight; in my youth, I actually had trouble *keeping* weight on, and had to eat myself senseless just about constantly. Now I'm in my 50s, my metabolism has slowed down A LOT, but it's still only a minor issue -- don't go bananas on sweets and treats, mainly, and I try to stay under 140 lbs, because once I go over 140, it becomes much harder to get rid of it, with my slow metabolism. Currently I'm at 139, (I'm 5'6 1/2", used to be 5'7", but you know, shrinking -- runs in my family!) so I'd like to lose about 5 lbs. And the Hershey's Kisses xmas present are nearly gone! We were buying groceries last night, and when picking up cookies for my husband's lunches, I was seriously tempted to choose some for my own taste... but I managed to remind myself that I want to lose a little, not gain more. :D

Andria

I got joint issues too, knees & hips (got squashed between two cars). I think just about everyone shrinks when we get older.

Oh, and my Hershey's Kisses xmas present is all gone!!! :D

Does working in the garden count for anything? Trimming trees, ranking up trimmings and hauling them out to the dumpster. Moving potted plants (& these are some big pots!) from one end to the other and back again. An all day affair. Thank God it wasn't hot & humid out - mid to upper 70's & 49% humidity.

Love this weather! Sunny and warm during the day then cool in the evening. The last couple of nights it's dropped to the mid 60's.

For lunch, fresh spring rolls, meaning not fried, in a bed of lettuce. I'm now enjoying dinner - the last of the chicken soup and a cold beer. :toast:

Robin, take about a nickel size dollop of coconut oil and rub it between your hands until it melts. Then rub your hands along your hair especially on the ends. Let it sit for however long you can, overnight or just 30 minutes. Makes it soft and actually soaks all the way into the cuticle of your hair.

Bridget, remember all those mornings I didn't post weight loss?...yep those were gain days. My weight is so dependent on the time of the month, lack of enough water intake, salty foods, eating too late at night, "digestion" issues. I'm up a pound today myself...but I overdid it yesterday with no exercise. Still hovering where I want to be though.

Yep, those..:glare:

I remember several times (remember my beach trip?) where I gained FOUR POUNDS. Man those were so hard to get back off and continue downward. When I think back to last year, my mind just spins. I had "digestion" issues for 8 long years! Hence my colonoscopy, and hence me being on medication now. I got no issues now! System moves along wonderfully! I should have my .... kicked for not going to the doctor sooner.
