Cavenerd, I never look for that runner's high. I just know when it hits because I'm running and smiling!

Capricorn.

Bronze.. I'm going to have to change my screen name next December! Remember this is my first and only forum so I didn't know what the heck I was doing when I signed up.. Very glad I did tho-bad screen name and all! .

3 miles, weights = done

Whew. I did some of that sprint on 4 resistance. Ohmy! Took it up to 70 rpm for about 2 tenths of a mile and finished the half mile at 60 rpm. I played with resistance the whole 3 miles and kept the average rep per minute at 60. Wowser. A workout for sure.

if you went 2 ( or is it 6?) more rpm... you could have been a drive motor for an old record player ;)

What's a "record player"? Is that some kind of mechanical iPod? :)

Also, how did I ever workout without an iPod/iPhone/etc...? I remember running in the mornings for Cross Country practice and carrying a "walkman" that played "tapes"...

We were barbarians.

A W E S O M E !

It's brutal right? People scoff at the ol' chariot but it can be down-right terrible.

Some days I do a calf workout on the chariot for 20-30 minutes entirely on my tippy-toes. My calves are like coconuts for hours afterwards. And I seem to bounce everywhere I walk the day after.

we have sand because we can eat clams... and clams need sand so we can eat them.... that makes sense right?? ;)

As much as I might try and find the logic in that I'm not sure if I can explain that to my legs.

Also, clams are in my "survival situation" food Catagory. Sorry. More for you?

Thanks for all the shoe info Cavenerd! I'll have to find me a specialty running shoe store and let them recommend something. I currently use Asics and love them (thanks to Bridget...;)) Just bought a new pair since I wore my old ones out. I think I touched on the runner's high the other night. I did get in a place of calm where I wasn't thinking about my time or running or anything in particular really. Felt strong and felt like I could run a long time but I didn't push it. Last night...no high for sure! I struggled last night but that was probably the glass of wine or two I had before running.

Looks like everyone is continuing with being healthy. Good Job! :)

I did my fastest 5K (3.1 miles) ever at 30:52 last night. I know I know...it's only 3 seconds faster but I'm counting it. :) And then did three sets of arms exercises.

Congrats! Any improvement is an improvement. I know I've been just as happy over some actual non-sense improvements. I was training for a 10K in Japan and my training goal was to remove a song from my playlist. I put a song that I disliked (Bon Jovi, "Livin' on a Prayer") at the 40 minute mark in my race-pace playlist and worked to finish earlier in the song each "pace" workout. On the day that I finished my practice 10K without having to listen to Bon Jovi, I was happier than when I actually finished the race.

The point is: whatever motivates you, "motivates you" and ALL the success add to growth down the line.

Evening run instead of my normal morning run because of "work stuff" this morning and I'll have to push my morning run tomorrow because of Group PT in the morning. Maybe we'll do a group run with cadence.*

*If you ever build a time-machine, go back in time, join the military and do a cadence run. Super-fun!

Hicktown, OH
Soooo frustrated. The stores we visited in the area didn't have any affordable ellipticals in stock. Will have to go way out of town this weekend to search I guess.

Still sick, still not doing much working out (outside the usual everyday motions, I'm far from sedentary even when sick)

Danced around the kitchen with the kids today while we waited for hubby to get home.

Have been feeling so off track with all this. Anytime I get slightly out of breath I get a coughing fit, so that puts all my cardio off the list, and the sinus pressure makes my head pound when I bend, so most of the yoga is out as well. Am feeling a bit lame and lazy.
