+1 on the inspiration to try new stuff. Following your mods and Para,Breaktru,Asnider,Puck and a host of other talented folks, I have learned stuff that they are not teaching us in the EE program. Keep on thinking and I will try to keep up.

I learned about the 'Make Movement' from modding. When did tinkerers become 'Makers'? lol, awesome mod.

Pinky, thine praise deserved me not, for I am but a mere vessel, my hands guided by those of true inspiration...

lol...btw, that meter idea could just have easily been a complete waste of a perfectly good meter and box:blush:

Curious how you fill tanks on mods like this where the tank appears to be locked into the device... Other than the condom fill method which would likely be messy and take a while, is there a fast way to fill a locked in tank?

By the way, sorry about the hijack... beautiful mod. I may build something like it.

Unscrew the tank to remove it from box, fill, rescrew it in.

Mastifmike's got it, if you look at the pic I used a small piece of carto tube (mated to the tank carto with a small piece of Papermate pen with that soft touch coating, seals awesome) to extend the drip tip opening up to the surface of the box...I did this so when you unscrewed the tank, the threads would clear the atty con and it just tips and slides out...it's why you mock up everything before you grab the dremel:)

The curved sides of that box are fairly thick (compared to the faces), first off, I cut the pins off the meter except for the two we need which I de-soldered and replaced with a pair of wires I peeled off a computer IDE ribbon cable (very handy to have in your mod tool box, super flexible and perfect for tact switches, trimmers, meters, etc...anything very low current). Because I was going to epoxy the meter in (not hot glue) I could dremel the case side down quite a bit knowing that the epoxied meter install would return the structural strength to the side edge. The ball tact was drilled and installed so that the body of the tact is right against the meter edge (other tools I use to make a mod this tight are a digital caliper and a set of precision wood drill bits because they have that sharp, fine point on the end, perfect for plastic mods...they center and drill exactly where you want, they don't "roll" off your mark)...hope this helps...

I'm well on my way with my variant, just curious because some of what I see in your pictures defy physics. :) I'm not cloning your work, but am greatly influenced by it.

My small travel version to play with and work out some bugs before I make my good version.

Oh man!...nice job...how do you do that paint job?, or, if its a decal, link please...are those 18500's?

Sent via carrier pigeon

It's a vinyl wrap I got at http://metrodecals.com/store/html/Products/Wood-Grain-Vinyl-10/index.html. Found the place in the cosmetic forums here, someone was wrapping their tubes with the stuff and I thought it would look nice in my non metered mod. Those are 18350's. I shortened the box by almost an inch cause i didn't need all that space. I could go almost a half inch shorter if I rearranged a bit, but this is a good size as is right now.

You shortened the box?, wow, how Para of you:toast:...I hope my buddy doesn't see your mod on here...I made him a single 18650/DCC 5ml tank with a recessed ss Mamu clicky switch (I love those, but I guess at $7/ea. who wouldn't)...he fell in love with the box the first time he held the Imod...there's enough empty space to shave more than an inch off (not that I want to, he's not that good a buddy :p)...so, do you blow out an end and rebuild or cut a chunk out of the middle and epoxy back together?

Edit: on that decalling (is that a word?) material, how good does it stick?
