i dont like to use orings. if the oring matched the tube color it would be ok. not trying to be difficult. I mean i love both my Precise Plus 18500 and 18650 but isnt there anything else we can do or use instead of using a black o riung. anyone know if they sell grey ones? sorry David i usually never say anything and always go with the flow but this Precise is just too nice a mod to use a Oring. for me anyway. ok guys dont all jump on me all at once.

I thought the o-ring was to hide the small gap because the kick keeps it from screwing down all the way. I wonder if someone make a gray o-ring.

I meant the o ring that goes under the battery. If it is possible to use a thinner o ring then you should be able to screw the top cap on more which may or may not hide the gap.

For instance he says you use a 70/1000 thick o ring which would be 1.778mm if you used a 1mm thick o ring in theory you should be able to screw the top on an extra .778mm

I agree.

Super-Ts reputation has been built on the quality of David's fine fit & finish. The black o-ring is a “stop-gap” measure that I’m hopeful he will improve upon.:)

I agree too that i don't like the Oring to fill the cap gap, but it's not because of my design, it's because dropping from an 18500 battery to an 18350 battery isn't the same length as dropping from an 18650 battery to a 18490. You'd think they would be the same, but they are not. There are three other solutions: 1. Make a shorter Kick 2. make a cap that is the same overall length but puts the top collar down lower, or 3. Make a slightly longer body.

OR if it is at all possible make an extension sleeve to compensate for the kicks length that can be used with any of the P+18's
like the one that you have done in the past ;)

EDIT- the more i look at my P+18650, the more i realize that that is impossible due to the inside diameter of the P+18

Just to Clarify, the Kick Works fine, no modifications, no gaps etc with the PrecisePlus 18650. It's only when trying to use it on the PrecisePlus 18500 with an IMR 18350. An extension sleeve would not work due to it tapering down the Inner diameter too far. Plus, even if i could sleeve it, i wouldn't as it just wouldn't look clean with the extra couple of seams it would add to the P+ ;-) If the Kick becomes very popular, i'll probably just make a special cap for the P+18500. :)

Option #1 would obviously be the best one but we would need to find out if it's even a possibility.

Option #2 is my second favorite since it would be the most affordable upgrade for existing customers and would work flawlessly.

Option #3 sounds simple but would potentially be the most problematic. It would work perfectly with the Kick but would make it challenging to use the P+500 with IMR batts and without the Kick... Currently, the throw on the P+500 with an IMR batt is maxed out with 4 washers. To use it without the Kick, one would need to add an additional o-ring below the battery which would create even more space between the top of the screw and the bottom of the battery. So, we would need a longer button screw and 6-7 washers to achieve shorter throw... Also, I imagine that acquiring a new longer tube would be more challenging for existing P+500 owners than acquiring a new top cap from the option #2.

From these three options, I think that the option #2 is the most realistic if the Kick cannot be made any shorter. Just my :2c:

Edit: Sorry David, I wasn't aware of your last post since I was writing mine at the same time.

I like the idea of an optional "kick cap " especially if one could be designed to adjust the kick from the outside of the pv via a control ring or using a small screw driver or something David designed ;-)!
that would justify buying a new cap otherwise I'd be fine having to using an o-ring...

Forgive me if I am wrong but if the bottom o ring is just to make sure the battery doesn't ground to the tube is it possible a thinner o-ring would allow the cap to thread all the way down? Maybe a 1mm cross section?

Hey David, I am not sure if you saw this or not but was wondering if this would work, ^^^
are there thinner orings at that diameter?

Since the Kick adjusts via a tiny sloted pot screw, it unfortunately just isn't a viable option. If they make a version in the future with a different style adjustable pot, it may then become viable.

I haven't found any suitable orings unfortunately that are thinner then the .070 with the correct diameter.
