The Kick by Evolv--Coming to Super-T!

Ok, I took one for the team.
In a highly controlled and scientific experiment, I put a 1.8 ohm atty on the PV, set the voltage to 4.3 which would yield approximately 10 watts, cranked a Kick to 10 watts ( to pseudo- scientifically simulate equilibrium) dropped it in, dropped on a battery, began twisting the battery cap on...wait for it...
Nuthin'.
Nothing but a weak flashy light on the PV button.
The Provari's Ok, the Kick's OK, and so am I.

Well at least it was highly controlled and very scientific. Ok, I guess I can check that one off the "to-do" list.
So we know what happens, but not why.
Just to clarify, the symptoms were this, exactly:
As soon as the battery spring made contact, the ProVari power button LED began flashing very rapidly and faintly. No functions of the ProVari were available.
Since I put my .... on the line to perform it, I'll leave it to somebody else to explain it.

To my knowledge, the Provari doesn't use PWM for V control, where the Kick uses PWM (Watt control). Completely different electronic circuits.

My guess is, since you had the kick max'd out, the Provari saw high voltage, and shut down....
What advantage could be gained by putting a kick in a Provari anyway???

I own a Kick, but not a ProVari. I don't have in depth technical knowledge of either, and my knowledge of electronics is limited. So take this for what it's worth.
The Kick doesn't just provide maximum power because the POT (Potentiometer, small adjustment on the Kick) is set to 10 watts. Watts is a measure of power, based on both potential (Measured in voltage) and current flow (Measured in amps). The Kick increases the voltage until the current flow through the resistance of the atomizer reaches the total power (Wattage) specified by the POT on the Kick. So using a 3 Ohm or a 1.5 Ohm resistance atty on a Kick should be about the same. This is wattage, or power regulation. It provides the same basic feel (aka vape, whatever...) regardless of the resistance atomizer used.
The ProVari is a voltage regulated device. It provides X amount of volts to the atomizer based on the user selected setting. Depending on the resistance of the atomizer, the wattage will vary. The lower the resistance, the higher the current flow and wattage for the selected voltage. So putting a ProVari at 5 volts and attaching a 1.5 Ohm atty will result in much higher power (Wattage) than attaching a 3 Ohm atty. The ProVari uses voltage regulation.
As far as putting a Kick in a ProVari, the Kick will increase voltage to accomplish the selected wattage on the POT. On the ProVari, the Kick isn't seeing the resistance of the atty, it's seeing the resistance of the ProVari electronics most likely. This is not a good idea, and behavior of the Kick and/or ProVari may be unpredictable.

It was estimated by Evolv they would have another batch done for me late last week, but it looks like they are still catching up. Hopefully this week.
FYI…..Information received……..restocking Kick’s to US Distributors starting this week and hopefully others outside US in a week-and-a-half. Darwins are awaiting a very delayed component, hopefully should be running boards by weeks-end or early next week.

David very cool man. when you get them are you just going to put them up on site or post first. Getting way too old for free for alls ya know. some kind of heads up for regulars would be cool. I gotta say though this kick just works fantastic in my Precise Plus 18650
It will be just first come first serve, but what i will do, is post up at least a day in advance the specific time they will be going up on the site, so that there are no surprises.
