If that upper chimney oring is not sealing it will cause dry hits, been there done that.
one easy way to tell is cover the 4 air holes in the base try to take a pull on the tank and quickly stick your tongue over the drip tip, it should hold a vacuum
if not you are not pulling enough juice into the chamber because of a vacuum leak.

If you don't believe it, remove your upper chimney oring and try it for yourself.

You're both right. If the upper chimney ring is bad or missing it will dryhit while vaping but will flood and leak when left idle for a while. Been there, done that too.

The pancake method seems to wick a whole lot better but I can't seem to go past 15 watts without it starting to burn a little. Where do you guys vape this at roughly on your wattage level?

Narrdarr in the morning I will try untightening the top and if no luck I will try the method you shared. I know I'm getting frustrated. Has anyone tried the billow rta? Is it any better or easier being dual coil?

How do you know the pancake method works better if you can only vape at 15w before going burny?

I have no probs chaining my lemo at 50w. Too hot for me there so I spend most of my time at 35w.

I have a Billow but wouldn't recommend it if you think a Lemo is hard to build or wick correctly.

I agree with others here. There's something wrong with your Lemo....that is, if you are wicking chunky. I think ww is on the right track...remove the upper chimney seal and use teflon tape to eliminate that seal as a possible cause for your dryhits.

The idea bout drawing on the atty and then placing your tongue over the tip hole was a good idea. Not sure who mentioned it and too lazy to click the page button lol.

If you're loosing vacuum due to a bad seal or something, the pressure will bleed off while holding your tongue on the tip. Simple but ingenious test. Might help norrow down the problem at least. If it's holding vacuum, then wicking is likely the problem.

EDIT- it was WeirdWillie's idea. :D

True, for the tank seals but you can't test for a bad upper chimney seal that way....think about it.

Been using the drop for about a week and a half now. Still awesome. Still using the stock coil. It's rocking steady at 1.2 ohms. Cleaned and re-wicked a few times. I use the silicon plug for the fill hole and haven't had any problems there...or anywhere else for that matter. I've ordered another one of these and a full size. Curious to see if there are any performance diffences. Some posts talk about tight air draw. I have my adjuster fully tightened and it still feels quite open. But, the only thing I have to compare it too is my nautilus. Out of the box it was five or six clicks from fully closed and that felt like a wide open draw. Is the full size any different other than the shortened tank? Vape cheers!

Some believe it has a slightly more concentrated flavor, I suppose due to the shorter distance from the coil to your taste buds. I know exactly what you mean about the draw.....I also came over to the Lemo from the Nautilus. It did seem really opened to me, but then I graduated to drippers. That's what I use primarily now, and going back to the Lemo from there, the lemo seems really tight. I suppose it's just a matter of what you're used to.

Got my drop conversion kits for both of my lemos yesterday. I have been on a major RDA binge the past few months, if I was at home I was dripping, the lemos were really only used went I was out or at work. Even though my Cloupor Mini 30 Watt can sub ohm, I've been keeping my lemos builds in the one ohm range so I can use them on my istick (the istick is much lighter and more compact, easier to carry around on the go). Since I was switching out the tank sections anyway, I decided to do a sub ohm build in one of the lemos to see how close it would be flavor and performance wise to all of the sub ohm drippers I've grown to love. I did a 0.5 ohm single coil using triple twisted 28g kanthal, 7 wraps, 2.4mm diameter. Absolutely killer, I think this is as close as an RTA can get to dripper status for a single coiler like myself. In fact, there are some aspects of this set up than I think are better than any of the RDAs I've been using. Looks like a may be turning back into a RTA guy!
P.S. I already broke down and ordered an istick 30 watt. Gotta sub ohm on the go!

I got my super cheap drop in from ovale today. Out of the box it seems to be a little nicer than my first one. The threads are smoother. My first one didn't have a screw for the fill port but came with the silicone plug already installed. This one had the screw which I discarded right away. The pre installed coil pops like a grenade so ill be replacing that after the tank goes dry. Here's the link, they appear to still have them. http://www.ovaleusa.com/lemo-drop-rebuildable-atomizer-kit/

What do you mean a "screw for the full power"?

Same here. Got mine and tried the preinstalled coil--it's loud and pops and there's no way I can vape it comfortably; I tried playing with the AFC and different wattages, from 10 to 14W, can't do it. No matter what setting I try, the vape is almost painful and makes me cough. No dry hits or leaks, though. What am I doing wrong? I'm a mouth to lung person and was hoping for a Kayfun-style vape with a bit more air.

I'm going to try a 29g, 2-2.4mm ID, 1.5-1.8Ω coil. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. :)

Go up more on the power of you can. It doesn't make sense but I've had harsh vapes mellow out by turning up the power.
I'm not sure what wire that is but it feels a little bigger than my 26g kanthal. You probably want 20 watts or more for that coil.

I was afraid to go up because my vape was getting too warm already at 15 watts...

Hi Katya, yep, it's flooding. Wick is oversaturated. There are several fixes. Turn up wattage, wick with less density, draw softer or open airflow slightly.

To mtl hit a lemo at 15w a 2mm ID tmc coil should work better too; it will speed your coil heating time and limit juice flow.

Good luck, good to see you step up to the Lemo...:)

Thanks Cig--but mine isn't flooding at all. It's working fine, no dry hits, just very strong and harsh hits at 10-12 watts... I used the coil that came with my Drop. It really hurts my lungs when I try to vape on it...

I mean. it's not flooding visibly--I have no gurgling and no leaks.

Right Katya. That's why I said flooding; not leaking or gurgling. It is very rare for a Lemo to gurgle or leak when flooded unless extremely so. Flooding/oversaturating the coil with juice results in your symptoms; strong harsh hits.

I get it--I think.. Too much juice in the wick, the coil is not heating fast and hot enough to vaporize it. Right?
