Seriously though, I think there's room for improvement when it comes to shaping the incoming airflow. A slotted hole running along the length of the coil might improve flavor, reduce gunking, etc.

I love vaping and to me its a hobby. A hobby in which we can use ingenuity and manly power tools to shape our pass to healthier life.

There are a billion smokers, vape market is still young, you and i have an opportunity to make $$ millions while saving lifes with the next RTA/RDA design. "As Seen On TV" has yet to sell a vaping product and the last time i was at Bed Beth and Beyond, As Seen on TV has its own wall at the store across the country.

Think about it.;)

I would think a slotted airflow would limit the possibilities of using a different coil orientation. No verticle coils.
That's why I'd make interchangeable center blocks, for a customizable airflow.

I would like to be able to adjust the airtube though to make it protrude as much as 2mm higher. That way you can get the coil close while keeping it cool as well.
That sounds doable too. Now someone with some machining skills better than mine, make it happen.

I just did a complete rebuild of my lemo. Washed everything in hot water and towel dried. Removed the AFC screw and double checked that nothing was blocking the air way. Reassembled it (making sure the afc ring was in the full open position), rewicked it, making sure the juice channels were clear and my coil was well above the air hole. The draw is still tight compared to my subtank mini.

The STM has always had more airflow to me as well as a different flavor profile. It's a struggle for me to like it though.

I'm just getting into vaping. The lemo was my first RTA and I just picked up the STM Friday because I was going out of town for the weekend and I wanted something easy to rebuild (swap cartridges) if anything went wrong. The lemo still has better flavor but a tighter draw unless I'm doing something wrong.:oops:

IMHO you are exactly right. I bought some five pawns juice that I felt was just mediocre, but the little cylinder it came in is the perfect size for a traveling rebuild kit. I've got some wick and wire, a syringe and blunted needle and a 6-32 machine screw in there. And the key chain screwdriver.

So... 28 gauge Ni200 wrapped around 2 2mm bits side by side

Dropped the damn atty halfway and had to rebuild it. This one has a different number of wraps

Yes its tighter than the subtank mini.
Just a question of if its too tight for you.
I like good airflow but I dislike restrictive air flow more.

Reading 0.17 right now.

I just held 2x 2mm bits side by side, and wrapped on them haha

I am intrigued by the coils simplicity, ill give it a try when i rebuild my lemo with 24g wire.

I think it might bring back the flavor from juice while keeping the coil mounted high do to its width and more surface area.

Have you noticed an over all increase in heat from the coil since its wider and has more surface area? Tank being warmer or juice it self being warmer?

Like I've said, I'm just getting into vaping, so I had nothing to compare the lemo to until I got the STM. Now, I'm not sure I want the drop, I might just wait till V2 comes out.

Not really! I don't really think there's necessarily a greater surface area too, given that I used a very similar length of wire. Perhaps the main difference would be that more of the wire is directly exposed to the airhole, but at this point I can't really taste or feel any difference from my normal build.

I've made Kanthal coils like that, but I turned them 90 degrees to insure complete airflow across the wide surfaces. When I ran them like you have it, the top side of the coil dried out and gunked extremely fast.

I may have to revisit those

AH interesting. I didn't think that would happen. Im gonna go through a couple more tanks and open it up to take a look!

Another using a letter opener to wrap around instead of 2 nails. 28awg 1.6ohm slightly higher off the deck this time.

Strip of Shiseido (outer layers removed of course) slightly wider than the coil.

Folded over and twisted on the folded end for insertion.

Trimmed and fluffed.

A view after I've doused the wick and screwed the barrel on. I think the increase in flavour is from how much volume the coil/wick take up.

I'm guessing the best way to figure out ID on this type of coil is to measure width and height then divide by 2. Make sense to you all?
