I'm going to start stalking your posts to see what you say is good. We always seem to be on the same page. :toast:

I hear ya bud... Jax also seems to dig the same equipment... though his vape Budget far exceeds mine! :p

Next on my list is finding new smaller drippers (derringer=love)... more RTAs (none of those trendy sub-ohm octa-coil messes but solid single coil tanks) and some new genesis attys (if anyone is still making them lol).

I'm a HUGE fan of everything Attysmith (even if i refuse to pay for it lol) but the raptor is a shameless clone right there ! The AFC is a neat idea but it seems like added complication to a design the Marquis seemed to perfect even playing with the idea the Veritas started. It would have been cool if AS made the Raptor super tiny 14mm or so.

Copied design or not, the Raptor supposedly produces flavor on par with the Marquis but with more air flow. I love my Hobo's and Derringer's air flow. The Marquis is a bit restrictive to me. Probably going to let my son try the Marquis and give it to him if he likes it.

Put the top on with the two holes open
Ive seen someone who put the top on the other way around so all three holes were giving air.

Looks great! I tried the three air holes in front and it whistled at me. I like a tighter draw though.

Hello all, I'm a little late to the party. Expecting my Marquis (clone) today or Saturday. I have no experience dripping. I will be running it on an ipv Mini 2 (70W). What would you recommend for a build to start with? I'll go with simple coils, but not sure if I should start with single or dual coil. I have 26g, 28g and 30g Kanthal to choose from and lots of KGD cotton, as well as just organic cotton balls.

Only other rebuildable I've done is with a Lemo. I sometimes struggle with wicking on the Lemo and avoiding dry hits. I'm hoping a dripper is a little more forgiving on how it's wicked........but I might be foolin myself. Suggestions welcomed.

Well my current and first build is 26g 3mm 5 wraps coming out at 0.4Ω on the mod probably 0.45.

For the lemo Ive been fine just having the wicks touch the deck and away from the juice channels.

Yup, I reverse the top cap for all 3 open when I go below .3 (very rare) or bump up the watts above 60.

Wow. This thing is nothing short of a good time to build on. I am not sure if I've ever had any RDA that on the first build resulted in an aboslute perfect set-up! Wow. Just wow! I hope this thing is copied to no end (meaning in how others approach RDAs, not necessarily in cloning it).

Now, unfortunately, I just don't find myself all that thrilled with the vape itself in terms of flavor. I mean, I couldn't have it set up more perfectly, it's wicking like a champ and the density of the clouds is fantastic -- but the flavor is just not concentrated enough. When I close of the airholes, it just feels like any other RDA with the airholes closed off -- restricted. I like a tighter draw, but not in closing off airholes, I like a somewhat stiffer draw becasue the max airflow is just a little less. No RDA that I've used (and I've used several) has ever felt right to me with the airholes closed off.

Comparing this to the OG Veritas (which would be impossible to not do), I would say that the ease of build and the overall enjoyment in handling the atty is absolutely no comparison! Hands down that would go to the Marquis. But, for the saturation of flavor, in spite of how much of a pain that thing was to build on, the Veritas was better for flavor (to me). I sold my Veritas becasue I can't have an atty that I abhor building on, no matter the quality of the vape. I will continue to play around with different builds to see if one suits me best, because this atty is just too wonderful to use to not give it a chance at satisfying the user. But, if I can't find that sweet spot, I will just hold this up as the new standard for which I look for in newer attys.

I have been looking into this atty due to reports of outstanding flavor and ease of build. I have been skeptical of the flavor reports though. Whenever I have made an enormous coil or two and stuffed it full of cotton I have always got muted flavor wi th a side order of cotton. I am almost beyond the point of talking myself out of getting one though

Sorry, not a clone at all. I've got both, and while there are some similarities, there is enough different. The raptor is more like a tankless hellfire shorty, with two negative posts, and a different type of AFC.

I love both my Marquis and my Raptor, they both have their pros and cons, but I can't see doing without both. I just rotate them :)

I know exactly what you are talking about, but that was not the case for me. I might be being overly critical becasue, as I said, the first build was nothing short of perfect and the wicking is part of that. My flavor is really good, it's just not as good as I expected. Those expectations are generally the (my) real problem -- they get in the way of the experience.

I currently use a patriot. My first and only rda. Would I be blown away by the marquis in comparison?

Man, it's been so long since I used a Patriot, I can't adequately make the comparison. I guess if you are happy with a Patriot, I do think this would satisfy you immensely though. But as with all things, if you are happy now, you already know what will make you happy.

At first glance I can see why you may say this and it has been said before, but these atties are very, very different other than both having a raised deck. You'll read plenty of high praise for both, but those who own both will tell you just how different they actually are; in function and overall design.

The Marquis is a very innovative atty and very well made, with a lot of unique features. The Raptor is the fourth atty, on which Hellfire have used the raised deck design and have also combined unique innovation, into an equally well made dripper.

I have a huge amount of respect for both modders; Dino & Darren and own both the Marquis and the Raptor. I feel fortunate to own both and be able to give first hand opinions on them.
