Just saw this review for the first time but new about the jbox and Jason making these, as always a very nice and well written review by Nebulabrot, great job Nebs,,,,, I need to place an order for one of these soon, especially with the newer Evolv 20D power regulation source chip in it.

Order #XXX 64 Days Ago status "Processing"... What bothers me even more; There is a new model? Seen it mentioned a few times, but no info. I hope this 20D is what I will be receiving. Surly I did not pay such monies for an item that will be "old" before i even receive it, right?

I was thinking the same thing. I am only around 45 days, so by the time he gets to mine the newer/better will be out.

Mine was ordered end of August. No sign of anything going forward. I am also very much bothered about having an old device before I even get it.
I understand Jason is super busy but c'mon guys, a few words here would help a lot calming down the customers. I am vaping for close to three years now. I bought a lot of mods from very small to huge vendors. I never ever had any experience like this before! Even the biggest names take a second to answer at least a few words in 24 hours. I was / am in contact with Imeo, Zen, Mac. You name who and I tell you they care about their customers. Here I do not feel this at all...

I don't think boxs already ordered will have the 20D, don't know if it will be the same size/price and saw in a video than Brandon was expecting to sell it before christmas.
Don't know why Jason stopped soudainly to communicate, even if busy he has times to spend hours on Vapeteam shows each wednesday so it should not be impossible to write a few words here.
My 1st JBox was ordered the August 10th and sent about 5 weeks later, 2nd ordered 2 days after i received it and now about 35 business days so not a problem for the moment but also disappointed with the no communication and for people ordered since a long time.

FWIW - I am not 100% sure of ECF rules but this IS a review thread. As such, the manufacturer/supplier may not be permitted to post in here. I cannot speak for JBoxshop but I do know these are all custom made to order. With 20 coats of finish this can take time. Weather can play a part. If anything goes wrong in the process, it can cause delays and rework (perhaps even as much as sand back to wood and start the finish process over). They are amazing and worth the wait.

As for "old" vs "new" - again, cannot speak for JB, but I do know Evolv products and I suspect the DNA20 might not be the same model. It could be but it could also be completely different. Depends on the logistics and design necessary to fit the newer chip and screen. Things are not always directly swappable. The new DNA20 board is completely different. The DNA20 board has not even been released in beta for testing yet so production may be out b4 xmas or could be longer (different production process, different potential production issues, different production facility-location-company, etc.). I know what Brandon said but I do not know the current status. I do know EVOLV did extensive prototype testing with Kick b4 release.

I do appreciate V-Gigs and I would encourage all to remember these are each individually custom made to order. This is not a manufacturing plant - these are hand made to order. Once an order is placed, the woods are separated, cut and the custom process begins. I think this is a one-person operation. As for the comments about the show, a few hours each week for the show is not going to change custom production in any way.

I get excited about new devices on order too (and have my 2nd JBox on order as well - since soon after the original post). But I also realize, and appreciate, these are custom hand-made pieces done as a side-line. EVERY custom made-to-order PV craftsman I have followed here in ECF (and elsewhere) has had issues meeting projected time lines - stuff happens. I tend to appreciate custom and have various items made this way (mostly non-vaping). Time-lines on custom are rarely (if ever) accurate - it is just not "off the rack" or in any way comparable to "production manufacture".

What I CAN say is that I know Jason and I DO have respect for his quality of character (any who know me know I do not say this lightly). I am confident Jason is, and will continue, doing his best and these devices will be beautiful.

The real irony here is all this is being posted in the "First Impressions" thread....

This is 100% correct. This IS a "first impressions" thread. And, I will offer an update now as I approach the 3 month mark with my original JBox - I use it each and every day and I absolutely love this device. It continues to function flawlessly. While I do run several devices each and every day (each dedicated to a diff juice), the batt life holds up, no charging issues, performance is 100% consistent and the finish is completely holding up (and I have leaked juice on it more than once - I use tanks and filler tools, juice does occasionally overflow or drip during re-filling - I see no indications of any damage to the finish from juice but I do wipe it down after each fill just to make sure I am not unnecessarily leaving any juice on it). It does have a few minor surface scratches from rubbing against Darwins and other devices when I pick up multiple devices with the same hand. They are barely noticeable unless I really look for them. Jason is coming out with a polishing kit (might already be on his site - haven't looked for it lately). Jason told me when I first got my JBox that the finish will probably not be fully cured for about 30 days. In my own case of V-Gigs, I just used the heck out of it and did not worry about the finish. I'll try the polish kit on it and see how that goes. When my 2nd arrives, I will probably baby it for the first month. I use only "Evolv Inside" devices and this one is certainly a daily-driver for me. I get more comments and compliments on JBox over all the others.

NebulaBrot,
I agree whole heartedly with most of what you a saying. I too have purchased many Handcrafted mods, and I choose to spend my monies on the small handcrafted side of this business, and yes all to date have missed the deliverable of time. I have been burned once, but one bad apple will not spoil it for me. I believe trust and respect are basic rights, not to be earned, but to be taken back. So Jason, by default, has my full respect and trust. However, replying to an email, or sending out emails to notify of the time delays are CRUCIAL. I mean really! You are fortunate enough to know Jason personally. The majority of us, I assume, do not. So How many have ordered a +$250 device blindly over the interwebs based on that basic right of trust and respect? And... What if all, based on Jason's lack of interactions with his paying customers, decided they were being had called their CC companies. This would be, i assume, a catastrophe for Jason. Simple, simple email notifications go a looooooooooong way in this environment.

Now that being said I do wish the best for Jason. I long for the day my beautiful JBox shows up, as I'm sure it will indeed be a work of art, and a vaping beast.
So very unfortunate that I have been put in the position of waiting with baited breath as to whether or not I'm going to be hosed...

Sure but i did not speak about custom production, i said Jason could have the time to answer emails and of course he does what he want with shows...
By the way i also love my JBox and will love for sure the second one.

The Evolv 20D isnt even released as of yet, and there hasnt even been any news of Jason building a new Mod with it, ( If he did I haven't heard or seen it ) I spoke prematurely about this, you guys ordered the current JBox Mod and its the only one he builds as of now so I'm sure thats what you will be getting, and love love love this Mod, anything with Evolv electronics in it Rocks the house down over everything else available ( 2 Darwin owner here ) nothing touches these Electronics in the vape world, Nivel chip may but that isnt available so much either. So be happy you ordered the current JBox guys your going to love these. You wont need more then 12 Watts anyways in my opinion, my Darwin never goes over 10W

Actually in a general e-mail Jason sent out he mentioned finishing up work on the JBox 20D design. My theory on it is that if he has already put the time into our orders we should get the old JBox, but whatever orders he has not even started should get the option of going to the new one. If there is a price increase so be it. I know I would much rather have the newer design, even though I would rarely go over 11watts just think the newer tech, the better.

I can only second StarSky!
I understand and appreciate all that Nebula wrote but COMMUNICATION to your customers is key when you miss deadlines that serious!
If you go to the site it still says 30 days of build time. When I ordered it was 28 at the end of August!

I agree having time for show does not alter the curing time needed, but sending out bulk mails would take max 30 min!
Maybe he is not allowed to post here, but if he read the comments he could see the serious complaints going on here and create that bulk mail...
