Will the original Prodigy and associated parts continue to be produced? Not just supported for repair, but produced? Sounds like maybe the new one is drip only, which would eliminate me (cart only here.)

I wanted a switch or two for spares, but was too late so I'm worried now that the only device I like (original Prodigy) will go away.

Steve, as I am the OP of this topic, I have a few more questions.

This is an interesting concept. But it occurs to me that with this setup, a few things we are accustomed to will just no longer be possible, such as:

1. Letting off the button a second or 2 early while continuing to inhale, to minimize wear on the atty and maximize efficiency.

2. Some of us like to "dry burn" the atty by holding the button down for just a few seconds (while looking into the atty) to check if the atty glows, and for cleaning. Seems like this will no longer be possible.

3. I sometimes activate the button very briefly while holding the atty close to my ear, so I can tell if things are still working. I just listen for that hiss, and I know my atty is still good.

4. For some, the loss of a button will feel like a loss of control. Personally, I enjoy the feeling of control my Prodigy button gives me. Not sure if a lip activated setup will yield that same feeling of "being in charge" of my vaping experience.

Also, I'm not too sure how the lip activated setup will work. How is it going to tell the difference between lips pressing against it, and the inner and outer walls of a pants pocket?

I'm definitely not trying to shoot this idea down... I'm just trying to understand how it will compensate for certain things that a button setup provides for the user...

Then I assume it would use a non-standard cartridge.

Nope ... Will still use the same cartridge/mouthpiece/atomizer. The interlocking cam is not going on the outside brass or the atomizer ... Its going on the inside of the adapter.

Drawings will always be here Fj ... However, we have quite a bit of *overstock* left ... Both switches are in stock, as well as the actual tact switches. So, you haven't missed out on anything :) And the new Prodigy will still accept Cartridges without an issue :)

1. Letting off the button a second or 2 early while continuing to inhale, to minimize wear on the atty and maximize efficiency.
A: Imagine your lips being the finger ... You can let off and still continue to inhale.

2. Some of us like to "dry burn" the atty by holding the button down for just a few seconds (while looking into the atty) to check if the atty glows, and for cleaning. Seems like this will no longer be possible.
A: Grasp the atomizer/adapter and press down with your fingers :)

3. I sometimes activate the button very briefly while holding the atty close to my ear, so I can tell if things are still working. I just listen for that hiss, and I know my atty is still good.
A: Same as #2 Answer :)

A: You will still be 100% in control of the unit. You don't have to necessarily use your lips. You can also control by grasping the adapter and moving it yourself :)

Also, I'm not too sure how the lip activated setup will work. How is it going to tell the difference between lips pressing against it, and the inner and outer walls of a pants pocket?
A: Forgot to number this one Ultimist ... hehe ... Easy - When not in use, slide the cam to the locking position = locked.

I'm definitely not trying to shoot this idea down... I'm just trying to understand how it will compensate for certain things that a button setup provides for the user...
A: NO worries Ultimist ... :)

lol ... Once we have it mastered Rod ... Hopefully preorders, etc... will open up over the next week. Without having to wait for plastic components, the way should hopefully not be as long as earlier preorders :)

Okay, it took long enough to convince my wife that I needed the Protege as a backup for my Prodigy. Now that, that excuse is used up, how am I going to rationalize this one? Damn!

er....ugh..... you could tell her that you've become a huge Star Wars fan and it's actually a Lightsaber replica.

Or you could........ ugh...... tell her that it's the same one. You've just been reading a lot on the forum and done a little modding of your own to make it as beautiful and unique as you think she is.

Ah, okay, when I looked the other day only the non-resistored were there. Just grabbed a couple resistored so all is well. New design sounds intriguing ... hope it doesn't end up causing more problems than it solves lol.

I'm also apprehensive about this idea. The manual finger switch is a proven method. We all like it and it works how we expect it to. Moving to some kind of mouth activated method is interesting in theory, but the practical reality has yet to be determined. It makes me think twice about upgrading my 1.0 Prodigy, that's for sure.
