They should work great on that beautiful blue 14650 I saw today!

Yep tx, that's exactly what they are for. Like you suggested, I like how they stick up above the cone so one can do a juice check from time to time. I have these and some 1.7ohm xl single coils and both seem to work well.

She's a one juice gal, so I can fill 5-10 of the Phoenix's at a time instead of having to carry around extra juice and syringe.

how exactly are you reseating the post? Just pulling it off and putting it back on again? what does this do?

Again, I have 75% VG in one where I pulled up the post so its dangling off the base almost, and I'm getting successive perfect hits (I'm on 30 now). Trying to do this while the carto is already full of course results in a slow constant flood, but if you do it before the fill it seems to work. Push it in a little, it stops working.

@Lord Davon: would you be so kind as to elaborate on what you did with those wicks? I've also had the experience with fluxos that thinner/sheared/fluffed wicks work better, kind of counter intuitive I guess but it works

I got my 2 boxes of the Phoenix today. 1st one I filled and the flavor was a bit muted. I drained it and reseated the metal post. That fixed it! It has been working great ever since I refilled it. I openned 3 more and before filling them I took the metal post and reseated it. They work flawlessly now! I am using 60% PG /40% VG. The flavor is great and vapor and throat hit are awesome!

Chris do NOT change a thing on these! The Phoenix is the best poly fill free carto I have ever used!!! I just ordered 2 more boxes. I ordered a box of 2.4-2.6 and 2.6-2.8 last week. The 2.4 - 2.6 ones seem to work slightly better than the 2.6-2.8. I have no idea way as I am using my Darwin set at the same watts setting.

For those that are having issues try re-seating the metal post and make sure to fill completely (until you see the juice cover the wick slots) and up side down.

I *so* wish these things were more consistent all around. Everyone has different experiences... On this one, when I get it to hit right, the taste is outstanding, better than Stardust. But with pure VG, it's just not wicking well enough, I get slightly burnt taste a lot - not dry hits, exactly, but just off-tasting. How you get Boba's to work in yours mystifies me... That's why I'm saying what I'm saying about consistency.

I tried the X7, and had no problems with it, wicking-wise, even with VG. But the taste was off and weak - as with all bottom coils prior. Now, this one doesn't seem to suffer from that syndrome - if I could only have it wick well... Right now I'm getting two good hits, and then have to wait five minutes or so.

I'm a chain-vaper! :D

But it does have promise for me. Need to get me some thinner juices. The ones I have are months old, and some don't taste so good anymore...

The optimum wattage window is rather small with particularly thick juices I find. The one I'm using with Boba's measures 2.6ohms. At 3.3v it is outstanding. At 3.7v it begins to give somewhat harsh hits. Above 3.7, yuck.

@ Big Screen D: I tried placing a silicon O ring over the 510 air holes and I couldn't even get the carto post to make contact with the battery. Not sure how you're getting this to work. You're using these on an ego connection or straight 510?

LOL, I tried what you're doing first. Put the o-ring on the outside of the 510 connection not between them. Then adjust it to cover 1, or 1 and the other hole partially till you have it where you want it.

Bad:

I've used a whole spectrum of juices on three different cartos now.

I've used 100% PG unflavored, 100% VG unflavored, vendor bought juice that is 70-80% PG (vapor4life, halo, good prophets), and my own DIY which is 75% aqueous VG/25% PG

All juices performed identically, or underperformed identically.

On one unit I dremeled the post so that the wick slots are taller and extend all the way up, didn't help. Also laid a second wick over the first one, didn't help.

What seems to be working at the moment is, I pulled up the post so that its just touching the base. I'm on 40 straight hits without a dry or off one as of this post. If I go into a nic coma can you come pick me up from whitestone? :)

EDIT: The good prophets is high VG, but thin with a vengeance. the V4L and Halo is def high PG. A moot point either way because I used pure PG as well.

EDIT 2: All vaped on a Riva 901 with an adaptor, or a Riva 510. Both with the GV wider cone or without.

that's the one that's working perfectly. it's a tad leaky, so its not a sustainable situation on an auto batt, but just a tad leaky. i'm not getting juice all over my hands or anything. just a touch in the battery connection.

just pulled the post up before filling. look at them bubbles!

i think if they try and make this with a plug or cap or some other way to fill it then it wont work as well. it would start having leaks and problems as the mouthpiece wont properly maintain the vacuum seal. i think this is what caused the vortex problems.
personally as lazy as i have gotten with the visions and such i dont mind filling with a syringe if i have to and they dont leak so you could fill several to take on the go and leave the other gear at home lol

Aren't the Riva's unregulated? So you're at maybe 3.8v under load.

Yes unregulated, 4.2 off the charger, I'm guessing something like 4 under load, I don't know how to measure under load so I can't say. But def hotter than an unregulated ego. But they die around 3.6 if my memory serves me correctly

and they are 2.4-2.6 so all in all on the hotter end of the spectrum

That is without a doubt the problem. You can overcome this by doing things like you're doing to get the wick wetter than it's intended to be, but if you have a VV or a eGo to use, I'm sure you'll find them nice at a lower voltage.

How do you get the post out to reseat it?

Watching the video now.

Well I used it on a joy 510, and there was *less* of a problem, but it was still there. And that's just a boring vape for me :)

I'll try again though. People seem to be running these at watts equal to or higher than mine with no issues though. You're always gonna get dry burns on any carto when you push the voltage past a certain point. As an example I can't use horizontal coil 808s on anything higher than regulated 3.7 volts. But the fluxos stand up to 5.5 on my puck.

ive already asked them to look into them, i will have the new ones come with no pg or vg and only dry wick, i am having them do a recount of the wick strands as we speak as they should add up to a certain number which was then made by the wicking place for them with that count, i want that checked to make sure they arent using 2 different wick, then to have them check the coil and wick placement and send me video form the floor.

so far the phoenix is doing really well form all the feedback we have been getting minus a few people here. but overall an amazing acceptance with a oocassional pssobile bad carto, this will be handled becuase i perosnally love them immensly. flavor is outrageous and plumes of vapor and no leaking, cant ask for much more(except for every single one to be perfect)

My next juice order will be 20/80 vg/pg I think. My 50/50 is wicking a bit slow in all the new stuff so... Anyone else out there using 50/50 (vaporbomb) and having a very slight wicking problem?
Deadguy - From my experience, and I'm basically a VB only girl, their VG heavy juice almost seems thicker than others. So a 50/50 might be thicker than that mix from another vendor with juice that isn't made fresh. Perhaps you can cut it with a thinner juice that meshes well with the flavor, unless you've solved this already.

I stick to 80/20 PG/VG, but I have some 50/50 blueberry waffle I ninja'd from my mom this morning. I'm vaping my "butterdoodle" (butterscotch with snickerdoodle, omg heaven) that's more like "doodlebutt" since there's more snickerdoodle. It's 80/20, but I'll switch it up later and let you know if it's the brand.

Besides, the box looks really cool too.
Well, I'm jealous. I got the 3ml tank and no box, I wanted a box!! I don't even know why, I just want one. I always do when I see cartos in a cool looking box and I just get a carto in a little gray packet. It's like they're gift wrapped or something!

I will go to the desktop and send a PM. I typed the whole message twice on the IPAD and lost it in a freeze up.
REET_AZ - I agree with the others, Apple is a big poo-head. Android is better to its customers with the whole opensource platform that lets people develop their own apps. Plus, it has Flash! Although, Adobe said they aren't going to release any more mobile flash updates :(

I received the wrong size also. I think it's a little funny we both live in Phoenix....and got the wrong Phoenix!
 I think it's a conspiracy!

Anyway, I'm still a happy clam. I think I'm gonna create 'The Phoenix Diaries' in my blog section and regularly update the quality of it :D I dunno, I just love to blog. It's like writing a diary but everyone can read it!

Yeah, I don't think I can even stealth vape with this thing. I hold the vapor in my lungs for the usual amount of time but it's so thick it doesn't dissipate!
