These are not perfect units. The fail rate out of the box is high enough to say that. I never buy a clearo without expecting to mod it and work on it for a while, its just the price we pay to be rid of nasty filler and enjoy perfect flavor.
The best fix I've found is to not only trim the wicks flush as in Lord Davon's awesome video, but to thin them out by about 40%. Yes it looks and sounds scary, but it works best for me. I'm having absolutely no problems running unregulated 3.7 volt rivas fresh off the charger on these at 2.4 ohms. And I'm also not having any problems putting them on my freshly charged puck (which comes off the charger at 5.5ish volts) so long as I don't chain vape.
I've compared trimmed wicks to trimmed and thinned, and the latter works best for me. Lifting the post works, but its too liable to misfire, as in doing nothing or doing too much (flooding) for you. If anyone needs help, shoot me a pm.
Bravo. Hadn't tried the thinned wick trick...yet. But the trimmed to flush has the latest one with slightly thinned VG rocking@4v
5 out of 5 outstanding out of the box with 100% PG. The spousal unit doesn't do syringes. I fill er up 5 at a time.
The one with the haircut leaked out on 1st fill. Had nothing to do with the wick, or reassembly. Filled again, but this time only as far as to the metal and was good to go. So it would appear that overfilling can lead to siphoning out of the juice.\\
Edit: Strike the overfill leads to leak out theory.
This one started to leak out again after refilling. It's all about having a completely airtight seal at the top. After filling, I watched carefully for a few minutes to be sure I had no leaking. Screwed it on my PV, popped in MY drip tip, not the factory rubber, but the same 510 I've been using. Started to pour out the bottom. Pulled the drip tip out, leak stopped. So it seems pretty obvious that this drip tip is expanding the tube just enough...sometimes, to break the air seal. Using the factory tip now till I can mod my o-rings.
