Thanks for the idea. Just made one with a 4xAAA box & RCA plugs. The only bad battery I had was a Health e-Cigarette, but it works. Right now using 3 regular batteries in series, getting 4.7v. Have ordered some rechargeable 1.2v for this box (to give me 3.6v) & some 3.7v (protected) for a couple of more. This is fun, except when I picked up the soldering iron from the wrong end 8-o Dam that hurt.

Thank you very much for this idea. I finished my first mod today and it uses this method (as will anything else I build). I just wanted to say thanks and post pics to show off your idea at work.

Below is a copy of what I posted at VF (pasting instead of linking because I dont know how a link would be taken here):]

I'm so glad this helped even if just a little, you did a great job and i am sure you will enjoy it for long time.
Thanx for sharing with us.

Some plug in add-ons you might be interested in.
No extra work involved, just buy the adapters and you are ready to go!

Since now you have the RCA adapter made.. here is my suggestion for your next mod (i know there will be many more :D)

Let me see if I can do a better battery RCA connector. The box looks OK but the atty connector sucks, had to glue it with gorilla glue. I'm not sure how everyone attaches the piece from the battery to the RCA plug, everything else was easy.

This was copied form a different thread but is related to the PVMA , so i pasted it here.

Pick your switch, this is what will be inside your box. In my setup i used a 2 x AAA battery box.

Cut the cover(shell) of the RCA plug to the size you need. look at the end for more.

Just brake the long connector in the RCA, you don't need it since it is metal and that will be the ground.

NO Soldering, no cables for the adapter, just glue the battery adapter to the cut RCA jack shell.
You have to figure out how much to cut so the center RCA pole will make contact with the center of the connector.

Hope it helps

Here are some of the options you have with the RS wall wart:

1- this is my own setup, you would have to build your pass-through and atty adapters for this one.
3802075171_5757bd05bf.jpg

2- faster to make with your actual setup, you only need to add an USB connector to the wall wart, and a regular pass-through with this adapter to be able to connect.

3802075189_3c8d6e2b90.jpg

3- one more would be to cut off the USB plug on your pass-through and the connector on the wall wart, and solder one rca jack and one plug.

3802110731_8468270194.jpg

4- the fastest/easiest would be to cut off the USB plug on your pass-through and the connector on the wall wart, and attach one to the other, but then your pass-through will be limited to use only with that wall wart.

I wish I was as mechanically inclined; however, it would also mean I'd have to have enough sight remaining to see what I was doing if I could mod like that but... that's life I guess. Kudos to all of you for making modifications so that various parts work with other various parts without the need of hunting down the exactly part that goes with one particular e-cig.

You certainly have my praise and my admiration.

NO Soldering
Did one of these yesterday for a 901. Could not get the center conector to touch without the outside touching, so I soldered a wire in the center, screwed on the sleeve, soldered the battery connector to the wire, then glued it to the sleeve, looks just like the top picture except it is for a 901. Thanks for all the ideas and help Warp.

I have the day off today and am going to try to build my 5v box using 2ea 14500 in series with a TI 5v regulator. I'll post pictures if I get it done and it does in fact work. Thanks again Warp.

I looking at making one of those 5v also but my funds are limited so I have to wait a while. I'll be really interested in seeing how yours turns out. Where did you get your 5v regulator? I think that's the only thing that I need to be able to make mine.

Where did you get your 5v regulator?
Texas Instruments

UCC383-5 - Single Output LDO, 3.0A, Fixed(5.0V), Reverse Current Protection, Thermal Shutdown UCC383TDKTTT-5G3
Ordered 5 samples. You have to jump through hoops with all kinds of info to look like you are going to make something to sell and just want some for testing, but they shipped my 5 by FedEx at no charge. I have it soldered to wires, but my cordless drill battery was dead and I have to wait to drill the holes while it charges. Should only take 10 min once I drill the holes to have it together, then about an hour for the glue to set. I put the RCA connector inside the box so I have to glue it in, makes it not stick out so far when using a 901/801 atty.

Thanks Burnie got mine ordered and I can't wait to see your project so I know what to do when I start mine. It's funny that I never even knew how to solder before I started vaping. Now I building things for myself and have fun, besides learning a ton of things. I want to thank all the modders for sharing there mods and showing us how to "get er done". With out them I, for one, would be spending alot of money on overpriced factory items with a short life span. Now with a little imagination and learning the "How to's" anyone can do it.

Warp, you have a couple of Y connecters with switches (top one in the picture below). Can you go into more detail on these please?

Did you take the connecter appart?

Can you remove the switch (to plug in a second atty for example)?

Yes this specific connector is 2 shells that are pressure fitted together so you can pry them open and work in it.
That is how I installed the switch and 2 RCA connectors in it.

Audiogear.com

Yes of course you can remove the switch, but I would not see the point since if I want to use 2 attys all you have to do is plug in this:

Gold Series Audio Y-Adapter, Mono Phone Jack to RCA Plugs - RadioShack.com

into it, and then plug 2 attys to that.

If what you want to do is not use the RCA's and just regular battery connectors, you can do that also but you will loose all the versatility.

I would like to add that, when you cut the tube of the RCA plug to put your atomizer connection in there...make SURE that your cut is filed square - it makes for less troubleshooting of "why the **** aren't I getting vapor" when your atty can CONSISTENTLY make contact with the center conductor....

Good thing you brought that up, I forgot that since I made mine a while back. :D

VERY aggravating - sometimes I'd get vapor, and sometimes not, but it was COMPLETELY inconsistent. Multimeter checks of the RCA mod were good, I always got solid connecitivy to the center of the battery connector.

Turned out, that uneven barrel made it where the atomizer was just BARELY screwing down enough to make intermittent contact. Depending on how the tolerance stack fell and pressure against the mouthpiece, that was enough to get the "on again, off again" performance.

Took the file from the leatherman and knocked down that high edge a thousandth or two, and it's solid performance, now.
