Thank you Trypwyr and all others for the kind words and support.

VERY aggravating - sometimes I'd get vapor, and sometimes not, but it was COMPLETELY inconsistent. Multimeter checks of the RCA mod were good, I always got solid connecitivy to the center of the battery connector.

Turned out, that uneven barrel made it where the atomizer was just BARELY screwing down enough to make intermittent contact. Depending on how the tolerance stack fell and pressure against the mouthpiece, that was enough to get the "on again, off again" performance.

Took the file from the leatherman and knocked down that high edge a thousandth or two, and it's solid performance, now.

I copied this thread I started for added reference.

For those making their own adapters,(regular or RCA) this will come handy and will make them much more reliable because you will not need to use soldering or wires.

sports ball inflation needle.

It fits tight in the battery/atomizer center hole.

There is an extra bonus in using this since many have the problem with some atomizers that don't make a solid connection to the battery.
You can cut the needle longer so it sticks out from the battery connector as you can see on the adapter on the top of this pic.

The solution many of us used is posted on a sticky (staple mod), with this you don't need it anymore I hope.

I added a small length (1/4 inch or less) to my mini pipe so any 801 atty would make a good contact.

And this is how I use it for adapters.

Hope it helps.

I'm seriously wondering why someone hasn't taken this up as a product and started putting it out. This is revolutionary to the e-cig as a whole. One universal battery connector for every atty out there. Not only have you made buying easier but you've opened up a world of customization.

Anyone able and willing to make these for money toss me a PM. I'm in the market for some 510 additions.

Replacing parts is what keeps businesses making a lot more money opposed to offering the best solutions. The lesser options they offer the more you will have to buy in order to get the same result.

Just like car parts, they make them as incompatible as they can so you can not "mod" them for use in other cars.
Almost every product out there is proprietary for that same reason.
That is why we have 810, 901, 520, 401, etc.,and each one has a different connector, not because they need it, but because it makes more money, it doesn't make sense to us consumers, but it does to them.

Besides a few of us in the forum, the rest of vapers around the world only have the original factory parts to rely on.

I wish it was different, but it is not and never will.

Yes, but it only takes one savvy business person to corner a niche market and start offering universal adapters to the community. They could market to the wee consumer and to manufacturers (mod makers primarily). It's a well waiting to be tapped.

Batteries will still die, attys will still break, only this way there will be a larger consumer selection to choose from. I could use model specific attys off of one battery and find the one that suits my style the best instead of buying 10 starter kits (all of which are usually sold at a small margin of profit by sellers, since the real money is in replacement parts and juice).

This is probably even more boggling then why there isn't a graphics desgin market for e-cigs yet. There is quite a demand for personalized graphics (this is much easier then most believe) and yet only a few sellers offer graphics at all and none have an option for personalization or even a wide selection of customization.

For a growing market in the 100's of millions (in such a short time) it pains me to see so much potential revenue lost.

Then again, I'm not trying to tap this market either, just benefit from it, so who am I to give advise, right?

You guys are geniuses.

I've been lurking around this forum for a few days now, and I would like to thank you Warp and Burnie and all the other contributors. I am new to vaping (only using a health e-cigarette cheapo so far) and am planning to build a nico-box and use rca connectors. Do you guys think the health e-cig atty's are sufficient or should I spring for a more expensive brand? If so, which one would you recommend? Thank you for any suggestions you may have.

These are POS e-cigs. In my start of vaping I purchased 5 sets, 3 of which did not work. It's a start, but there are lots better out there.

I have 1 RCA adapter for them I made from a bad battery, it works ok. No need to waste them, use a battery and make an RCA connector for the box. Also the connector in the charging pack will work for a 510 atty, but it is like a nut, 6 sided, not round, so for an RCA plug you would need to file/grind it round to fit. I built a box for the wife with one and just made it straight 510 with no RCA, I have lots of those attys so didn't use the RCA plug.

which one would you recommend?
Everyone seems to like one over the other. I like a 901 or a 510, but that is just me.

Welcome to the addiction :D

My only suggestion regardless of the type of atomizer you use is to look at the detailed pics on page 7 here, just scroll down and you will see them.

Hope it helps, if it doesn't, feel free to ask more. :)

Warp, I haven't gotten around to doing your plugs yet, But I think another advantage to your mod is that it reduces the screwing on and off of the atomizer. Friction on the center connector. Another member sent me a dead atomizer and the only thing wrong with it was that the wires had twisted to the point that they lost contact. When I got it, it worked, but twisting the center connector was like an on-off switch. I could make it work, then it would fail. So it seems to me that a push/pull connector would eliminate that problem. I think your rca plugs are the stuff! I just have to go make them.....!

I am sure I am being too stupid for words here because everyone else seems to understand, but there is something I am not getting at all re the RCA adaptors.

Just suppose that I don't have any old stuff lying around and I have to buy some jacks for a 901, how do I know what to buy? I understand the 901 uses an 8mm .75 male thread- do all rca adaptors have this thread under the plastic insulation? If not could someone provide a link to a 901 compatible jack please?

Very confused now, so TIA

The valve stem is the easiest to come by to match with the 4081 threads. There also connectors in the little kits for inflating athletic equipment. Good luck.

Go back and read the Stickys on connectors. That will tell you which ones to get at Rat Shack or which ones Nerf has..

All I can see on this thread is two links to RS for phono rca-type plugs and phono plug 8-pack. Neither of these means anything to me. So, my question is, is there an international model-type or standard etc for the type of rca jack that when hacked about will screw into a 901 atty?

US links are no use, hence the need for model no, type etc.

I've probably been looking at the wrong thread!

Thanks

Lol, no wrong thread, you can use any RCA plug as long as you mod it to fit the atomizer connector of your preference. You can get RCA plugs and jacks easily anywhere in the world, it has been on the market for more than 50 years.

Look at page 7 on this thread and scroll down, you will see detailed pics on what and how to do for your adapters.

Adding more options to the Power Vaper Modular Array (PVM) system.
I posted this on a separate thread but thought it would be good to also have it here all together.

Tiny 510-901 battery I normally vape at home out of my 4.5v wall wart and pass-through or one of my many battery mods, but when I go out I prefer to keep it a little more "discreet", and using the factory batteries for 901 and 510 is just silly because they last me about 20-30 minutes at most.

So I build myself an adaptor that matches my RCA system and allows me to use ANY atomizer on a 801 battery which will last me a little more (about an hour), and I can also use it for my commercial PVs.

The pics.

I used an 801 battery charger adapter from Eastmall and removed the connector replacing it with an RCA jack.

One 801 adapter = ANY atomizer.
