Did a little research on the PGS graphite sheet. It sounds perfect until you get into the data a little bit. It transfers heat really well in the x and y axis but is darn near insular in the z axis. In other words a sheet will transmit heat really well in the flat plane but not through the sheet. Therefore if you rolled a small piece around a SS wick and the wrapped the coil around that it would insulate rather than transfer the heat. It all relates to the orientation of the carbon molecules in the sheet. If you could find a sheet that was insulative in the x and y and transmissive in the z axis it would be damn near perfect. Even at the quoted cost we are only talking about $.30 for a 10mm X 10mm square. That would be plenty to wrap a SS with.
Been following the coversation and thought somebody had it but, alas no.

I saw that. As far as conductivity is concerned I think they are talking heat not electricity. The seimans no. is above 10,000 and that says pretty much non conductive to electricity. I may be wrong and will be the first to admit it. Not an engineer by any means. Mostly self taught.

Now getting even more off-topic

"For a device with a conductance of one siemens, the electric current through the device will increase by one ampere for every increase of one volt of electric potential difference across the device.
The conductance of a resistor with a resistance of five ohms, for example, is (5 Ω)−1, which is equal to 200 mS." - Wiki

A Siemens is the reciprocal of an Ohm - the larger the resistance (ohms), then the smaller the siemens number; therefore the larger the siemens, the smaller the ohms (resistance) and the better a conductor. So with a large siemens number, wouldn't it be a good electrical conductor?

So is this pyrex tube idea a go or no go?

Everyone is waiting to get some pyrex/fused quartz tubing in hand to play with. Meanwhile, the brainstorming continues

The Heat Resistive paint on Aluminum may be a Fail per Dry Burning/Other that causes the paint to detach...though coil resistance hasn't changed significantly.

I may or may not spend excessive years sitting around the dayroom of a nursing home in a wheelchair, semi-detached and watching I Love Lucy reruns.

I think all 3 dimensions, else why put it between a heat source and a heat sink per "2) Thermal Interface?

Another matter is with the PGS Graphite Sheet may be the minimum bending radius.

Wait...I'm already semi-detached.

I thought about that....a little anyway....and thought limits were meant to be pushed or maybe cut it into thin strips

If all else fails I thought it was cool and might be nice to have around for other projects
