Thanks for the video.

But how does it vape once the cap is on? The early parts of the thread had people reporting that it does produce a lot of vapor without the cap (like most videos) but with the cap on, it seemed less.

So many variables - I guess the only way to find out is to try it myself. (C'mon jugheads with the aga-t!!)

It vapes fine. Took a day to get full flavor.

bk78:

You mentioned in your experience vapor production, quantity-wise, equals that of a traditional configuration... Now, would you agree with the user's quote which follows when it comes to the quality of the vapor, though ... !?

Here is my take on the status:

1) Dan first presented in his OP a renewed interest in a configuration that was explored a while back. You can research "Wizard Stick" here on ECF to get an idea.
2) Dan's initial results were reported as good and vapable
3) Many people ordered tubes; first Pyrex, then Fused Quartz
4) A few people of the many that order product actually reported their results
5) Based upon posts; mixed results were reported. Some reported ~60% vapor production compared to standard genny; others reported back equal vapor production (me :2cool:); other could not get any vapor production
6) People explored different air-flow configurations/atty designs to optimize as well as other tweaks
7) A few people spun-off efforts in different directions such as using sealed coils inside fused quartz tube, etc. that are working well.
8) Either people moved-on with this threads idea, or could not get this to work at all or perhaps some are still testing and will report more results

My take :2c: I could great vapor production. This issue for me was not vapor production, it was the quality of the vapor being produced. I found that the vapor was more smooth sizzle than coil-on-mesh fireworks. Based upon how the evaporation-condensation cycle occurs in our currently configured atomizers, the vapor is different. I describe it as being smooth, very tasty, pure and even. Coil-on-mesh produces a robust fullness that pops and give you the wow factor. Vaporization on the inside of a glass surface does not. Probably due to juice hitting a larger hot surface area rather than a focused "red-hot" coil (for lack of a better descriptor..) and a number of other factors. SS Pyrex is not bad, but I prefer the wow factor of coil-on-mesh. If you can consistently get a coil-on-mesh genny set up properly, you may not see any benefit to SS inside a glass tube. IMO

I am sure others can add more insight as well.

EDIT: Big Screen D and others are making good progress in his thread mention in the post before this.

The only problem I ever had was when it was cold and I fired it then it cracked. I just wanted to try it out I don't have time to sit around and test everything that everyone's using. It's cheap I think you should buy some and test it out if you like it you like it if you don't you don't. I'm not a modder by any means I just seen it so I ordered some and it worked.

Thanks bk78 and revolver.

Can't sleep so did a bit of catching up in the modding forum.

- original thread nicely summarized by gdeal (posted here by revolver)

"Offspins"

1) ceramic coated coils
2) Pyrex Tube/Inner Coil/SS Mesh Genesis Mod
3) The Next Big thing.... Porous Ceramic Wicks

Personal take:
# 1 - Seems a lot of unknowns in terms of how safe the coatings are.
# 2 - Looks difficult to do
# 3 - Most promising - just order the ceramic wicks when it becomes available and nothing else needed.

All this plus the DNA20 chips shipping already - looks like it's going to be a very interesting year!

. Here's another

That link didn't work for me, it took me to a mobile version of youtube... I found it by searching for dredd0606 though and browsing videos submitted.

So, what is the ohms of the coil and the voltage you are using? I don't know much about the Orion, is it VV?

What is the flavour like compared to regular coil/mesh?

What do you mean by saying when you fired it cold it cracked? Was it out in the freezing cold or just hadn't been used in awhile? And did it just crack, or did anything fly off it like people are talking about being afraid of the shards?

I am on the fence... I am new to Mesh/Wire but I am getting pretty good results.... but I do find I have some coils that get red quickly if I am not tilting the device and keeping the mesh really wet. Will this improve that problem? I don't get errors, just a hot coil if it is fired too long without tipping it.

So from your posts I gather that you like it, it vapes just as well, it took a day but you got full flavour eventually, and you don't want to use it out in the cold.

Does it solve all shorting problems and hot coil problems? I guess it all just gets red hot anyways since there is no liquid on the coil... is that correct? Basically it sounds like you can wrap a coil and just check the wraps to make sure they glow evenly and then vape away without any problems... is that right?
