specs: The 15ml bottle of RWhy4 I purchased from TheVapeTree contains an amber-colored transparent liquid at 18mg nic strength in a 60/40 PG/VG base. Nose of the liquid is gentle and pleasing. Testing was done by dripping into a JoyeTech 510 standard 2.3 ohm atomizer powered by a VAMO set to 9 watts RMS.
The description of
RWhy4 from
TheVapeTree product page states:
The Classic RY4 taste with enhancements for a full flavored vape.
OK, Classic RY4 taste I understand. What are the enhancements? Pixie dust, maybe? Unicorn milk? An included U.S. Savings Bond? I dont know.
As much as I like
Glassmanoak, the owner and juicemaster of
TheVapeTree, my first comment has to be that his RWhy4 does
not have a Classic RY4 flavor profile. Not even close. Its Custom all the way. But then, once we see the word enhancements, we can be pretty sure that were leaving the Classic state of RY4 Land and entering Custom territory.
In fact, this juice is
so Custom that my initial reaction upon vaping it is to wonder if its an RY4 at all. If it is, it lives right on the boundary, straddling RY4 Land with Somewhere Else, much like some small town whose Main Street is a state boundary between, say, Montana and Wyoming, or Alabama and Mississippi, where what state youre in depends on which side of the street youre on.
RWhy4 is a very well-blended juice with an interesting flavor that the majority of vapers would probably judge as good or nice or pleasant. I doubt that anyone would call it spectacular, but then, you never know with vapers---someone might. Does Rwhy4 contain the Holy Trinity of tobacco, caramel, and vanilla? Maybe. Perhaps even probably, but I cant tell for sure because of the other, more exotic flavor enhancements. My brain struggles to define those other flavors and comes up only with the inadequate word fruity. That word is inadequate because it calls up sense memories of raspberry or apple, and those basic fruit flavors are far more singular and well-defined than what Im tasting.
No, this is more like Mangosteen, as in TheVapeTrees exotic fruit blend,
Pinoy Punch. But even that is more definite than my taste buds can truly pin down and might be dead wrong for all I know. All I can say for sure is that the enhancements in RWhy4 taste to me like a bunch of very subtle fruit flavors blended together, and then mixed with an RY4. Unfortunately, I can no longer taste the RY4.
This is a trend Ive noticed recently: Using RY4 as a base, then adding other flavors to it that are unrelated to tobacco, caramel, and vanilla. Numerous vendors are doing this now, spinning off RY4 into unusual retail juices. I've been to three such sites in the past week, and I can state for the record that Im
not a fan of the trend. No, Im not a diehard traditionalist---I like many Custom RY4s and cant even say that I prefer Classic to Custom. Its just that when I vape RY4, I want it to
taste like RY4, at least within reason. I dont want it morphed into
Something Else. Strawberry RY4? No thanks, at least not for me.
Basically, RWhy4 is a pretty tasty juice (if you like the subtle presence of fruitiness) with ample flavor, as promised. Its just
not a very good RY4.
TheVapeTree RWhy4 grade:
C- (I want to give it a
D, but I wont, since its not a bad juice taken on its own merits)
