Recipe? I do have several of your recipes on my laptop. But quick overnight in Wilkes-Barre PA on the way home from winter in NY to spring/summer in FL where my house is :) just not in the mood to drag it out tonight to see what I have. I will say it should be an awsome drive like last year. Traveling through the seasons in 2 days... although as hard as this winter has been (and still is!) we might just go from raw winter to summer - woosh!

Edit - I really don't winter in NY just travel all the time with business. You can have this snow and cold! But a nice Classic DIY RY4 would sure be nice... ;)

Bill,
Can we get the recipe for Bill's Really Great Chinese RY4? I know I would need to order most (OK, all) the flavorings, but I do have my apocalypse nic and PG/VG.

I have found myself stuck on the Classic RY4s for a month or so. Volt, Butterfly's, DK4, and when I need a flavor boost Mr. Vapes. So a DIY Classic would be just the ticket!

Sure thing. I'll even go you one better. I'll post the "composite" recipe containing various flavoring options for the Holy Trinity components (tobacco, caramel, vanilla). The percentages given are my recommendation, but you may certainly alter them slightly should you wish to tweak the recipe more to your liking.

ecigexpress has all the flavorings except for HealthCabin Vanilla and Caramel. If you choose to go with all Chinese flavorings, you'll need to order those two from HealthCabin. Otherwise, EcigExpress has everything you'll need in a single order.

Bill's Really Great Chinese Classic RY4

Tobacco:
3.3% Tobacco Super-Concentrate – Tobacco Express

This is the very best tobacco flavoring concentrate I found for making Classic RY4. The flavor is plain, straightforward, relatively neutral synthetic tobacco, very middle-of-the-road, and completely absent of any exotic or eccentric flavor elements---perfect for Classic RY4. This particular concentrate blends nicely with caramel and vanilla and doesn’t stand out---again, just what we want for a Classic RY4.

Caramel:
(choose only one)
1.7% Caramel Super-Concentrate – HealthCabin
2.5% Caramel Flavoring – Capella
2.5% Caramel Candy Flavoring – The Perfumer’s Apprentice (TPA/TFA)
2.8% Creamy Caramel Flavoring - Lorann

Any of the four caramel choices is acceptable. Capella and HealthCabin work slightly better in this recipe, since they blend with the tobacco and vanilla for the unified overall taste we want in a Classic RY4.

Vanilla:
(choose only one)
1.7% Vanilla Super-Concentrate – HealthCabin
1.7% Vanilla Super-Concentrate – Flavors Express
2.2% Bavarian Cream Flavoring – TPA/TFA
2.5% Bavarian Cream Flavoring – Nature’s Flavors

Any of the four vanilla choices is fine. I used HealthCabin vanilla and caramel in the all-Chinese version I’ve been vaping today, but the others work equally well.

I used a 50PG/50VG ratio for the base, but that’s entirely user preference, except for 100% PG, which I personally wouldn’t recommend.

Ran across Zeus E-Juice RY4 at my local, they of course were charging a 33% markup for a 12ml bottle.

I found it very toasty but it was a bit hard to taste anything beyond that taste. Where Tribeca is toasty, Tribeca also delivers a powerful flavor profile which seems to change with each toke. Nothing at all distinctive or powerful with the Zeus, I couldn't get any caramel or vanilla and it felt like a somewhat shaky Hangsen clone which was a bit flat. It's vapable, but I passed on purchasing an overpriced bottle in favor of a couple of other Zeus juices that they got right. I actually like their selection of flavors, just didn't dig the RY4.

Can't say enough about Mr E's though, someone please shoot me a pm if they ever see a sale again from them. Top shelf. :thumb:

Zeus RY4, at least the Version 1 I have, is not good at all. That always amazes me, that vendors will make and sell custom RY4s that simply don't taste good. I mean, c'mon. Zeus' Creamy RY4 is a little better, but it's pretty obvious that while many of their juices are fine, RY4 is not Zeus' metier.

Yup. Great stuff.

I've been enjoying a new Frankenjuiced RY4.

Juice vendor CrystalELiquid sells two versions of RY4, created in-house, as far as I know. One is called RY4, the other RY4 Double Tobacco. CEL's regular RY4 is a sweet, dessert-style Classic, while CEL RY4 Double Tobacco uses a different mix ratio of the same tobacco, caramel, and vanilla flavorings to produce a more savory Custom RY4, with a considerably stronger tobacco presence.

Mixing them together at a 1:1 ratio (50/50) has resulted in an RY4 that, for me, walks the line between Classic and Custom---nicely balanced, crisp, and bright, but with a slightly sweeter synthetic tobacco that lingers on the palate. Not sweet enough to be a dessert RY4, but not tobacco dominant, either. For me right now, it's like Baby Bear's Porridge---just right.

I'll have to try that as I have some of each on the way.

I see the PG/VG mix in Bill's review was 80/20. These days, I'm moving more towards the VG realm. Any comments or experience with Butterfly's RY4 as a guide?

Mine was 70/30. I just loaded the last of a 60ml in its tank. I was hoping for a 45-50% sale. I think I can hold off, knowing I have other good RY4s on hand. But Butterfly's RY4 really is some good stuff.

I think you will be fine up to 50/50. Any more VG than that and you may want to ask about a flavor boost.

I order 30/70 and I do ask for a slight flavor enhancement for the high vg. Not a "flavor shot", just a touch. Finished the last of my Butterfly's tonight so this timing was perfect. I have others to enjoy waiting for steeping. With higher vg I order I always like to plan on extra steep time.

I know I'm the guy that brings a 6 pack to a wine tasting but...with all the 4's I've tried I always go back to Mr. E's RY-4

Mr.E's RY4 gets an "A" grade on The Big RY4 Report Card. If it were a beer, it sure as heck wouldn't be Budweiser. It'd be one of the finest artisan micro-brews made, and a darn sight more tasty than most snooty wines.
