Oy. Just filled a dcc with Highbrow RY4 and it smells like a delightfully rich tobacco...drowned in nail polish remover. Waaah. Everything else I have tasted from this vendor has been stellar, so I hope this is just a steeping issue. It was posted on the 7th and got to me on the 18th, so I will give it a few more weeks.

Anyone knows when might be the next time BWB has RY4 in stock?

SirTimmy,

No one on this planet knows when or if.

Officially, BWB RY4 has been discontinued, because Don has had so much trouble getting one or more of the specialty flavorings in the recipe. Gave him fits for more than a year, and he finally threw in the towel and called it quits on that RY4.

As I recall, following the announcement of BWB RY4's demise, Don posted that IF those difficult-to-get ingredients become available from time to time, he MIGHT offer an occasional or sporadic batch of the old RY4 for sale on the BWB site. Don't hold your breath, though.

In the meantime, Don is supposedly working on a new formulation of an RY4 replacement based on more dependably available flavorings.

scarf-ace,

Well, there you have it. I was initially quite impressed with Highbrow RY4, but that faded into disappointment (the odd flavor profile didn't hold up for me), and now months later I'm not sure where I stand with it. And I wholeheartedly agree that every other juice I've bought from Highbrow has been the bee's knees---Limoncello, Eve's Delight, and Cheesecake Torte---all best-in-class stellar juices.

Bwb is I gonna be the second or 3rd lost ry4 juice....is there an ry4 curse lol?

dog,

Maybe. I'm more inclined to think of it as a sneak preview of the supply chain problems that will surely worsen as the global economy goes through its death throes.

Thank you Bill you have certainly given me some nice ideas!

I mixed a couple small batches < 10ml of both Double and Asian so this won't steep , made it strong (IMO @ 22%) but am really liking it second day now it's mostly what I've vaped (so it won't last long LOL) think I'll mix another batch to get a few days steeping time in LOL (though I do have some with a bit of TPA chocolate that smells awesome that is begging for a taste test LOL)

Again Thank you!

EDIT- CORRECTION

I got to thinking I made a mistake on this post sure enough

That should read 12% flavoring (not 22%) I was thinking that I Might go up to 22% but decided to let it steep first- thinking FOR ME (so far) the 12% is close to "perfection" ... sorry I didn't catch that sooner

best of the best:
Quick Nic Juice - RY4
Mom & Pop Vapor Shop - RY4v2
Mountain Oak Vapors - Classic CountRY4

honorable mention:
Good E Juice - GJ4
Vermillion Rivers - KY4

I have many third tier RY4s that I could vape anytime.

Copper Creek's Twisted Tobacco
ECBlend's RY4 (formerly Ruyan 4)
Copper Creek Voodoo

What flavors do you get from Voodoo? I'm having a weird experience with this juice. I love several of CC's juices and finally tried Voodoo. I really didn't care for it after a week of steeping. It had an odd flavor I couldn't place, mixed with a distinctive tobacco flavor. I let it sit for a month, and decided to give it another try. As I was filling a carto, my nose said "BOURBON". I vaped it, and sure enough, I got a mellow but unmistakable bourbon flavor over a nice smooth rich tobacco. I like it a lot.

I've never heard anyone mention bourbon in conjunction with Voodoo. I know how subjective taste is - is it just me?

I got a bottle of GJ4. Out of the box, it tastes good. It reminds me of Vaperite Organic VR4, but with more tobacco presence, and less on the sweetness. In fact, this makes it better. After a few days, I can see how VR4 can get a little old. Definitely a dessert vape, while GJ4 isn't. The negative is that it's not really kicking well on the inhale. It's a nice tasting tobacco, but without the kick of tobacco. I barely feel a thing (18mg btw). I don't know if it needs to steep or if it's just the heavy 50/50 VG. I feel the same way about Vaperite's Organic Tobacco base (50/50) and the same way about Boba's Bounty (100 VG). These juices taste good, but are weak. I think I'll repeat something said in Vapenstein's reviews about Halo's base -- say all you want about the flavor, but they get the sensation down. I'm starting to realize how important this is for me - because I vape a crapload of Tribeca. It's not the biggest winner on flavor, but it gets better with time.. but more importantly, it's the juice that's keeping me off analogs. It reproduces the sensation and subtle experience of smoking in a way where I don't miss smoking at all.

Well im so glad to see there's no consensus lol then I would be thinking order time lol

I did get some py4 in and reviewed it. I didn't know there was that much interest in it but it says it got 795 views in one day...that can't be right....
It is good though for those who like maple and probably honey tobacco flavors. VB tobacco juices remind me of nlv in terms of sweetness and flavor strength as I said in one of the reviews. Still vaping subtle

PinkSpot RY8 and Swagger (which get mixed reviews here)
VapeKing dot com dot au Tobacco Grande, VK Supreme
Copper Creek Twisted Tobacco and Voo Brew (cue debate about whether these are "real" RY4s)

Bill, their Orange de Sangre and Highbrow Malt Toffee are so good I can barely stand it. OdS is seriously like vaping Tropicana orange juice. HMT is one of the most complex juices I've tried in a while, the sort that you keep tasting long after you have exhaled. Their Cheesecake, as posted elsewhere, is growing on me daily. Their Blackberry Limoncello tastes like those really expensive French berry pastilles in pretty metal tins. I wish it had a *squish* more Limoncello but I will probably buy that solo next time. Buttered Rum and Then Some is like butter pecan ice cream. Less impressed with the two vanillas and Creme Brulee which were a bit on the weak side. But overall Highbrow is quite wonderful.

I too get something weird from VooDoo. Voo Broo is quickly becoming one of my everyday vapes but VooDoo has a hint of... spice? Not sure. Maybe it is bourbon LOL. (Not a whiskey drinker myself) I will absolutely finish the bottle but I'm not sure I'd buy it again. Broo and Twisted Tobacco and House Blend, on the other hand, are 120ml reorders for certain.

I do agree after about a month of aging it vastly improves. Also I think the bourbon is spot on to me with a hint of maple to my palate . I do like the Twisted somewhat better but they are quite similar to my taste. They are certainly "custom RY4" (not sure that is a bad thing though) .

Bill, their [Highbrow's] Orange de Sangre and Highbrow Malt Toffee are so good I can barely stand it. OdS is seriously like vaping Tropicana orange juice.

scarf,

Yes, I have Highbrow Orange de Sangre. Because I'm a piker, I buy Highbrow's juices in 10ml bottles at 36mg and ask for 2X flavor, then I double them to 20ml. That's cheating, of course, and there's no certainty that what I end up with after adding PG/VG and a tad of nic is exactly like the retail juice, but I'll bet it's very close.

And yes, as so many people have attested, OdS tastes reasonably like fresh squeezed OJ. How close? Well, about as close as I'd ever expect to get when comparing a vaping nicquid to a real fresh fruit drink. I'm not in love with Orange de Sangre simply because orange isn't among my most favorite flavors. But I do like it, especially as a change of pace every now and then. I wouldn't call it "palate-cleansing," because it's not neutral enough for that, but two or three minutes of vaping OdS "refreshes" my palate from whatever I had been vaping.

I haven't felt inclined so far to try Highbrow Malt Toffee. I have a stash of BWB Malt Toffee---which is probably not similar, but the names are the same---and I don't vape that but once in a blue moon.

Even going on two years of vaping, I'm still fundamentally a tobacco-flavor guy. With one very odd exception: Strawberry. For reasons that even I don't understand, I've amassed quite a collection of strawberry juices and flavorings---natural, sweet, tart, wild, candied, even Jolly Ranchered (although I'm not much of a fan of those kid's flavors), etc.---and in various retail and DIY blends---straight Strawberry, Strawberries and Cream, Strawb Shortcake, Strawb Cheesecake, Strawb Waffles, Strawberry Cinnamon Danish, and Strawberries mixed with other fruits (all the usual suspects except banana; I like bananas as food, but not as a vaping flavor, and no strawberry tobaccos, either, yuk---no Strawberry RY4s, please).

In my less sane moments, I've considered starting a new Roundup thread called "Strawberry!" Nah, too much work.
