The REO Lounge - Part II

Good morning, REOnauts!

Karen, I make my coils first and then 'screw' the wick into it before placing the whole thing in the atty. I wrap the wire around a woodscrew to make nice even coils, then unscrew the screw from the wire, then torch the wire red before inserting the wick.

Using a multimeter on an rba is easier than on a standard atomizer because you don't have to balance the whole thing upside down and keep from knocking it over with the leads trying to get them placed - just touch each lead to the posts with the atty upright and/or attached to your mod.

I thought the screw was a great idea. Already planned on trying that! But with the bamboo or cotton yarn I am wondering if it will be difficult to insert it into the coil.

I never thought it would be easier to meter the RBA with leads. That's great because I don't think Kim has a atty ohm meter.

Question. When building the coil/wick for an RBA do you torch the wire before you build the coil?

Yes torch your wire first since you're going to using cotton or bamboo

Just trying to get this RBA coil/wick thing figured out for my daughter and myself. I got her two of the A7 and I have a REOmizer to do.

Looking at all the threads and set-ups.

I was thinking that the coil made around different wick material (thickness) will make different ohms too. Say 2.5 silica vs 3.5 silica.

We plan on using the cotton/yarn or bamboo. So will need to figure how many strands to use.

For 1.7ohm your gonna want 28/30awg wire so you can get more wraps as for how many strands you'll just have to experiment some people use as few as 3-4 & as many as 8+ I haven't used my ERA's on anything but my VV Reos because it's idiot proof I don't have to meter the coils I just wrap about 6 wraps of 32Awg around a folded over piece of 3mm silica with a big paper clip inserted so it's not wrapped to tight then pull it out after wrapping put it on and go but since you're gonna put it on a regular Reo just make sure to have extra springs around just in case

Good morning Reo-kins in Reo-ville!!
I haven't been on here in awhile... a lot of changes... sure is a fast moving transformation in all phases of vaping.
I turned 3 co-workers on to Reo's and they got their loot from Rob yesterday! I remember struggling with a simple 510 e-cig until I found the Reo- they are so lucky. In the meantime, my little button on my VVG finally died and so it's on its way to Rob for the larger button upgrade and he's throwing a Reoatty in there (of course charging me for it) when the VVG gets sent back. Other than that, my beautiful Coco is vaping up a storm, despite being knocked of the table at a bar a month or so ago (which broke my favorite Trippy Tip) and needing to go in to Rob for an adjustment. Because of the fall on a very hard floor, the space just under the well cracked. Rob recommended super glue for the crack in the wood- which I did and it held up fine (for awhile)...but not it's separating again and juice seems to find its way into the crack. Wondering if anyone knows a better repair method. I probably should clamp it too next time I repair it. Functionally it's not a problem but it has caused my door to be looser and so I'm also thinking of finally waxing my wood Reos- and I can't think of the wax everyone was recommending. Oh, and I've got 3 ERA's now- They have changed my vaping for sure...even have one on my Reo Mini 18490 w/ an inverted sleeve from an Ego. For juice, I continue to buy 3.6% VG NIc and dilute it down w/ pure VG to 1.8%- it's easy 1 part of each...then add super concentrate drops straight in my vaping bottle! I figured the other day I'm spending about a quarter a day on juice! What more can I say?

Forgot to add that the regular drip tips don't seem to fit the ERA to well (some do and some don't). I've avoided it until now but would like to find one, or maybe 2 nice TT's for them. Who has them up for sale currently? I hate to try to time a sale night- way to busy these days for that!

I'm thinking this to repair the crack...It says no clamping needed, but I need the top to push together to make my door rattle free again! What do you all think? Or is this the same as basically using super glue again? One concern is that it doesn't say "water proof" They do have water proof glue but the description doesn't say it would permeate the wood fibers...I need both!! Comments are needed!!

Thanks...wow- I am so afraid to drill into a Reo...hmmm. If you did that, which glue would you use?

You are going to use such a small amount, and if you get both surfaces to bond, then unless you go swimming for an hour I wouldn't worry about waterproof. I'm not a fan of anything instant for wood repair and always clamp. A magnifying glass will help in this repair.

Thanks RocketRod- I guess my concern is how close this is to the magnet and if you look closely at my picture, there seems to be a hair line crack right above the electrical box...look above it to the left. I really need to spread it apart a bit in order to get the clue in there but afraid I would break other parts (the channel for the door) and drilling to much, I'm afraid the whole upper piece could just fall out. Anyway, I have lots of fears. I know you said, "unless I take it swimming," but juice already runs down into the crack and it seems like it's not really even one crack in that area but 2 cracks. I suppose a syringe to inject the glue would be a good idea. Yep same stuff. I buy the Sunshield because of the UV protection. It helps woods that darken with sunlight to stay true to color.

That looks like a perfect glue to use Dave! It says it is thin and that is good in such a tight space. I think with that and clamping you would really make that crack invisible!
