Morning gang! Nice day here. 50 and sunny. I'm off to take care of some business. Lost a few accounts over that blizzard. Thought i was in solid as I have been for the past 4 years. If it was a bit earlier I could go after other bids, but theyre all signed for the season. Unexpected turn for the worse. I have my health thats most important. Just gotta work on the rest. Cya all laters. Ed

Health is a matter of circumstance... happiness is a state of mind.

Morning Reonuts. Long day yesterday sniffing diesel fumes and listening to people complain about hauling costs. Good thing tonight is dance night, it's like going to Disney World... all problems just seem to fade away. (Next time that giant mouse bumps into me on the dance floor I'm gonna knock him on his ....)

Good morning, Ed :)
That's rough, my friend. I'm sorry that happened. We have a relatively healthy market here, but it's funny how now, more than ever, it's harder to for people to spend money on anything. Working on a non profit project and the financial institutions who normally contribute the bulk of the funds have cut their donations in half...and some have completely pulled out. It is a challenge for sure, especially since our costs have gone up. Even in our own business...our costs have gone up dramatically over the last 3 years, but we can't pass it on to our consumers lest we lose them. So we lay off our subs, do all the work ourselves, cut the phone and cable service out (yay Netflix), wear old clothes, cut & dye our own hair, eat at home, etc, etc, etc. It makes me sad how much harder we're having to all work just to pay our bills and there's nothing left to put back into the local economy, other than the basics...grocery & gas. Sending you strength & patience. It will come around again. :)

Haven't seen much of that in what we do but we are small and the donations aren't that big. I can see it happening though. :(

The one event that I chair, our costs typically run about $5000....and we've only raised about $3600 this year so far. We still have a little time to make some of this up, but finding ways of cutting costs while retaining donors is a huge challenge. We'll make it, I'm sure....just sitting on pins and needles at the moment trying to work it out. I'm such an idiot...didn't I say recently I love me a challenge?

What would be your theory then on why Billy chose me to terrorize, yet didn't go after any on else? I never did anything mean to it, I walked past it and said hi to it, I gave it treats (I can't remember what, it was whatever they gave me to give it) and one day it just decided I was the enemy and needed to be hated. It would race around its cage, grab at me, screech at me, and generally drive itself into a frenzy. That thing was downright scary, but only to me (as far as I knew it was just me, it didn't act that way towards any one else in our group of friends anyway). It was so bad they literally had to go and cover the cage before I could even go in the house, or they just moved its cage into the parents bedroom. Do you know something about them that could explain it?

You must first realize that they are so like us humans. A monkey brain (not a ape) can average about the same intelligence as a 2-5 child. Also on an emotional level their emotions are the same as ours. Fear, jealousy, happiness, sadness it is all there.

Keeping a primate as a pet is tough because they are totally out of their normal environment that promotes their well-being. They must depend on a caregiver for all their needs. They are often given living quarters, a cage, and only get out occasionally to interact with their human. Some are more fortunate and live with someone that is home most of the day. They can be out and with them. Others are locked away while the people work. They are let out for a couple of hours and then put away.

How was his life spent? How much was he out? The act of putting a monkey away so friends can come over is traumatic for them. They see the friends as causing their time away from their human. Think of Billy as a 2 year old child. What if Mom puts that child in a room and shuts him behind a gate while friends are there. Would it really help if the friends came to the gate and handed him treats? If all he wants is to be with Mom then he would be very upset.

Monkeys are keenly attune to our voices and our gestures and especially facial expressions. They watch and see what we do with their human family. They listen to how we talk, how loud we are. They watch as we interact with their family, they base their opinions of us by what we do. A game of chase with one of their family will be seen as an attack.

I fear that Billy developed his opinion of you on something that he saw or heard. He did the only thing he could do while in a cage. He decided he did not want you there and tried to get you.

I am so sorry you had that experience. There are many people like you who have. Myself included.

Monkeys should not be kept as pets. They deserve so much more.

((((RAY)))) So happy that Carol likes the weather there. You've truly been a blessing fer her my man. I haven't yet decided on putting my townhouse on the market, prolly will rent it out. Still owe 50k on her because we used the equity to purchase that apt in 2010. Never seen that $500 credit for nut giving full disclosure, is it seller's option or can buyer insist on disclosure? There's even a US govt easement from 1938. Land courst says its for underground communication lines but I know its bull. Just so happened I worked in the tunnel system that ran from Pearl Harbor to a place called Red Hill, about 4 miles away from Pearl. There are huge govt underground fuel storage tanks there and fuel lines pass under/near where the property sits. LOL, this may be govt secret but I don't give a hoot.
