i dont know what went wrong either.. thanks for the advice.

it only seems to be the black boge's that are giving me an issue. the orange one i tried worked fine. the smok's also work flawlessly.

i guess it seems to be the trend to switch from boge cartos to smoktech... seems that they are more consistent. will have to order more smok cartos soon.

please explain your "blind" squonking method... it took me forever to comprehend "squonk", so i'm in the dark on the different ways or types of squonking.

Squonking is squeezing the bottle, forcing the juice up into the atty or carto. As you do so, you watch the catch cup for a little bead of juice to appear at the base of the atty or carto before you stop squeezing.

Blind squonking is different. You gently push on the bottle while at the same time drawing on your drip tip. You do this without firing off the mod. When you feel the resistance change or hear a slight gurgle, you stop. With this method, you go by feel/sound and not visually looking at the mod. For many of us it is handy while driving so we're not having to take our eyes off the road. This method doesn't work though with most rebuildables.

so if i rushed using a carto that was recently filled... and got that burning taste..

is the carto trash or will that taste eventually subside?

I'm not sure. My guess is that it is probably trash. But someone may disagree with me. With atties, when I burnt one at the start it was nearly impossible to save it at that point without dewicking it. This is an option that I don't think you can do with a carto. You could try to re-juice it and see if the flavor will change, but I doubt it.

If they are standard length Boge cartos, 8-10 drops is not enough for the first fill. I'd shoot for 25 to 30. Then give it lots of time to soak in. The coil is wrapped with a linen "diaper" and it needs to be fully saturated to prevent scorching.

Also, there has been a lot of talk about recent batches of Boge cartos not tasting good at all. Boge has denied making any changes to their manufacturing process or input materials, but the number of folks that have spoken up suggests something has changed, and not for the better.

Good Day REoKin :)

Happy Wednesday to all :D

@uadc -- sorry about your carto troubles -- what a bummer to have an outstanding REO and experience a sub-par carto on it! But one thing that strikes me is that you say, "I prefilled them a tiny bit, say 8-10 drops... let sit, and gave a few squonks before a dry pull and then a real fire." I've been using cartos recently and I fill with about 25 drops of liquid by adding about 10 drops, letting that soak for about 10 minutes, adding another 10 drops and letting that soak for a few minutes, and finally about 5 more drops and waiting a few more minutes. Maybe filling your carto completely and pressing the bottle gently to refill when you notice the flavor and vapor reducing might help (?)

If God created anything lazier than me He kept it to Himself therefor I am an expert at finding the easiest and quickest way to do things. Being cursed with the patients of a ferret on .... if I had to 'drip a few drops', 'wait a few minutes', repeat, wash, rinse, repeat, etc., etc., etc. I'd end up buying a carton of cigarettes just to calm down from filling a carto.

I've found that the process can be speeded up dramatically, (if you're gonna do something ya might as well do it dramatically), by adding drops to the mouth of the carto until the liquid sits on the top of the filler without spilling over into the inner tube. Place a finger over the hole of the base, place your lips, (crusty, disgusting, chapped and reeking of bad breath lips if you're a male... beautiful, lush, sweet tasting, alluring and inviting if you're a female), over the mouth of the carto and blow gently until the liquid is forced toward the base.

Simply repeat this process several times until the filler at the top of the carto remains moist then install your drip tip and have a ball. Whole process takes maybe 90 seconds. Top off the carto by squonking when necessary. (There's that word again... I just love it. Squonk, squonk, squonk.)

You all have given me key knowledge and I'm positive it will help me come to love my REO mini the way you all currently love your own REO's. I just tossed my last analog (I pray), and I'm loving the successful cartomizers I have so far.

Now my patience will be key in awaiting the steeping of my 3 newest flavors. At least I have 60ml of my favorite juice already pre-steeped for the arrival of my REO. :2cool:

Here's a dull newbie pic of the lil guy until I find more appropriate scenery as you have all inspired me to do.

last newb question here (for now):

are smok and smoktech different companies? and what is the best site to buy said cartomizers?
(to avoid the wasted suggestions, i've had bad experiences with dual coil clearo's that require syringe fill. i'm not looking for that kind of hassle. i just want cartomizers at the moment.)

love you guys btw. never thought i'd get responses to questions at this time of day.

thanks and thanks again for your attention to my problems. :toast:

I don't know about smok but I have heard of smoktech :)

I buy my cartos 4 or 5 boxes at a time... recently my REOkin Pietro suggested Surevapes: Boge Mix'n'Match (5 Box) -- Nice deal on 5 boxes of boge cartos for $23 - shipping included!

I don't shop for cartos anymore, so I haven't looked for the absolute best deals, but here are some links for your consideration:

- Smok Tech

Cartomizers - DiscountVapers.com

SMOKtech Single Coil
