Let me clarify...when I said 10° angle...I didn't mean a hill. We were in a controlled 4 wheel slide the entire way home, pointing 10° to the left. That was in 1995, in eastern Washington.

Morning Lisa. Please remember that socks placed over shoes/boots will grip on ice! I use to deliver newspapers before daylight. I learned that trick and it saved me a few times!!! Keep your phone with you when you leave the car, I know you usually do!

Hey Karen, ever seen Tropic Thunder? I found it to be an utterly forgettable film except for Tom Cruise's performance in it.

I didn't even realize it was him until I saw his name in the credits. Generally not a fan of the guy, but he had me snowed in that one.

No Dave, didn't see that one. I like some of his movies. But don't just watch a movie cause he is in it. I have found that most times his acting draws me more than anything. Only a few actors that I just have to watch every movie they have made!

Can I get some thoughts plz? I have a terrible headache and I'm alone with all the kids for at least another hour. Sean will be getting off at 3:30 EST so when he get over here I can chill a lil more but right now I'm miserable.

Do you have any Motrin? 800mg will take care of what ails you pretty dang good.

You have a couple of pressure points on your body that can help with headaches - one is in your philtrum, that little pair of ridges that connects your nose to your upper lip, the other is located in each hand, in the webbing between your thumb and forefinger.

Pick one of those pressure points and pinch it hard between a thumb and a knuckle of your index finger. Hold it for about 20 seconds.

The human body is an amazing thing.

Not coming down here yet. About to hit Mudflap in Tyler. Looks like it is losing steam here.

It must have fizzled between here and Lufkin, because we got hit hard! I don't scare easily and found myself rounding all the dogs into the laundry room, cuddling up under blankets and confessing all my sins. Could hear trees cracking all around and I've never heard wind scream the way it did. Power just came back on.
Generator continues to move up on the priority list.

Howdy REOvil!

When I smoked, I use to get some humdingers and those things work.
Next get out a movie that all will watch and plant them in front of the TV. If you need to keep an eye on them, get as far away as possible from the noise.

same here...when i smoked i would get horrible sinus headaches right behind my right eye....i spent endless sleepless nights..only thing that helped a bit was a hot cloth over my eye....had no idea it was related to smoking...everything improved within weeks once i quit..blood pressure went down...no more heachaches..kidneys improved.....and more importantly i had developed a blood disorder from smoking...i had to give two pints of blood every week to thin it out....i have no urge at all to go back to analogs...thank god for that...wind finally died down and i have a few leaning trees to deal with.....going to get a bottle of wine and a pizza...

Howdy REOvil!

Over here it was a sudden, ferocious down burst. My leak from LR ceiling, upper deck not yet identified where from, started immediately. I usually have some time before I have to get bucket out. (Bubs hate that as bucket goes between me and them on sofa.) Some rumbling right before it dropped. Although we had pretty normal high winds that day they were freaky. They were just above the trees. Ground level just normal 20-30 mph but upper part of treeline very noisy. Clouds freaky, too. DH noted unusual clouds a couple of times I picked him up or delivered him to airport.

So far the world hasn't ended......

Besides DH bothering me all day about picking up goose, he's been sending funny messages about "end of world." I've recorded a bunch of stuff about Apocalypse so plenty of fun to watch.

Seriously, though, solar storms present a major threat. We aren't as prepared as we were for Y2K but most things and provisions are still in place. Just don't have a year of dog food and biskie bones like I did then (10 dogs at or above 100 lbs each). They can eat soy, corn, wheat products along with us, this time. Need to lay in some toilet tissue and tobacco for bartering, though. Still have vacuumed packed green coffee beans. Hope they are still good. As we have seen better days, if things ever got bad enough we would help others as much as possible but peacefully end it if it got too bad. We no longer have 2 diesel fuel vehicles and 750 gallon of stashed diesel but have contacts with people who have pack animals. Bicycles are a given.

Gotta run.

Hugs and love, Feisty Alice

{edit} Being "out" we would be on the receiving end of people fleeing city. Hence trip wires, plenty of ammo, night vision, sand bags, and razor wire. Bicycles for getting to lake for water if needed and pack animals to some stored provisions. It's a long, treacherous trek, though woods, to get to lake for water. Stored water for a few months (400 gallons already potable) and pool. Walkie talkies and short wave. Need to communicate with others. A few board games and playing cards are nice; books. Have to have niceties to feel like going on. Sugar and hard bricks of chocolate necessary.
