Ya...I can't tell you how much it means to me now to have her be able to look me in the eye....and smile. There's not a lick of anger or delusion in her anymore....and for that, I am eternally grateful for however that came about. Even if there are no words spoken....I feel the love....and seriously, that is all I could ask for. This is the best Christmas present, next to last years smile of course.
Don't forget to tell those you love, that you do....you don't know when you won't be able to.

My mom is schitzophrenic and she also has a severe case of early onset frontal lobe dementia. It has been a battle for years....something that I never even dreamed of having to face. ....and there's a lot of bad stuff associated with our recent past. So now I count and photo document every visit I get to enjoy her smile and open eyes. That is the reader's digest version.Well what ever you are talking about Lisa, it sounds wonderful!!!

Hardest thing I've ever been through....probably for all of us. But none of that matters now. She's happy, safe, and relaxed. How she was before was no way to live....Regardless of how anyone else felt...it was probably harder on her than anyone one. And none of it was her fault. She may have the mentality of a small child now, but at least she's at relative peace.
My mom was really sick for a couple years before we lost her. She stayed with me and my sister for a long time during that time and she was really happy so I know how you feel!
