Nice mother, daughther time huh? Can't believe it has been so many years since those days of the original series. Guess I love this show because I've seen a UFO once when a kid which was later confirmed by a US astronaut though I forgot which one :p Was great to see people from around the world (alien too) working and getting along in a close environment. This was the first I can recollect and may have started the change in people's mind at the time. :)

Yes...that's one of the things I love about the various Trek shows.

Good morning, Nutz....you are among Trekkie friends here :D I can't wait to see what they do this time. Enterprise is now one of my favorite movies. My daughter and I are now watching the original series. For her, it is a first...she's only 13. But she's always wanted to know what started the whole Trek movement. It has been entertaining to say the least. I grew up on the re-runs.

Star Trek T.O.S. is my second fave series of all time. Never went to any conventions or anything but loved the show.

Good (insert time of day here) REOvillians!

It was a very rough day yesterday. One of the xray's in ortho was down, and the way they run the clinic is that each day is a different clinic. So Monday is lower body, Tuesday is arms.. etc. Last Monday was a holiday, so they have all the regular appts, plus all the trauma from the past two weeks, plus all the post-ops. It was an overbooked clinic to say the least!

I hadn't left the house since surgery, and use my walker at home but took the crutches to the clinic. I ended up not only having to make my way to the clinic, but then to the hospital for xray and back. It was exhausting, it took all day as they were behind, and the drive is long. I was so exhausted when I got home I just went to sleep and didn't even fire up the computer.

The pain begins, or rather, never ends. My knee hasn't extended fully in a long time due to the bone being in the way, and the muscles are sore from being stretched when I fell. But, I have to get the movement back so need to move the knee. The doc said I have a LOT of scar tissue from the 4 surgeries that needs to be broken up, but that when I fell most of the sounds I heard was mostly likely scar tissue tearing up so it may have been a blessing since I was on the nerve block and couldn't feel it. She said they sometimes will put a patient under and break it up to get the movement back, but I seem to have started that process inadvertently since I can bend to about 85 degrees (I was 90 before surgery). The xray looked good, with only one part of bone iffy (dead!) and they will look at it again in 4 weeks to see how it goes, with possibly another MRI to see if it is more bone (dead or loose bodies) in there than there should be.

So, that is the update. I have been walking a lot more today and keeping the heating pad on it while I extend it and bend it to loosen it up. Surprisingly, no PT was ordered? Maybe because I did so much by myself already? Oh, and my left thigh is 2" smaller than the right and I may never get that back.

I have seen a lot of the country is having terrible storms! I hope everyone in the storm path is safe, and that Jack is getting the snow he needs. I guess this is going to be good in the long run after last year's drought, but sure do wish you didn't get it all at once!

Stay safe everyone, stay warm, and take care of each other.
Sorry you had a long day...but glad to hear that it appears to be healing well despite your attempts move it along faster. ;):p I sure hope it keeps moving a long and you're in a relatively pain free state when its all done. My husband lost about 2" in his right shoulder and is now lopsided. At the time when he first noticed it, he was really peaved about it...but now he hardly notices it...and no one else has ever noticed, but me. :D

I used to have nice legs. After all the surgeries, I have one nice leg and one that is scrawny and scarred up. At my age, I don't care much about what other people see, I care more about pain free walking, or at this point just plain walking. It's hard to convey just how difficult it is to walk to someone who takes it for granted and just expects me to be able to somehow overcome it with no pain and in a few weeks (DH for one?)

This is a rare injury, and I am in a little club with 14 people around the world that had it. Very few of us had an easy course. Some of the women will no longer wear shorts or skirts because how bad it looks. I will, I have a bad attitude: If you don't like the way it looks, don't look at it. smiley-tongue.gif

JAN - hope you can stay out of the weather!

G'Day Naughties,

Hope everybody doing good. Supposed to have puter mail today :) I hope everything transfers over from the old to the new but have concerns that it won't. May have to burn a bunch of dvd's so may get hectic here after getting delivery.

Karen, Taken2 was awesome so enjoy!! A new Star Trek (Trekkie here) and new Skyline coming out this year so those are gonna be on my wish list.

Welcome back Honk, hope to see you around often.

Ed, enjoy DW and hoping for light snow for you.

Dave, great pics and looked like everyone had a blast. Hope the next is as successful.

Kayters, Val are surprisingly absent.....hoping you all okay ;)

Becky, great videos of fish, luv it :)

Hi Nutz! Yes, I have heard good things about Taken2. I liked the first one. They have been out on Netflix for awhile but always with a long wait time. Both were available with no wait and I put them first and second on my list. It worked this time!

Thanks...but sashwa is the one who caught it. We both then looked at his prior posts then reported him. Caridwen took it from there. :)

I had help though. Mike pointed it out to me in the Trippy thread as well as this thread. And Kami also pointed it out in the Trippy thread.

Good morning, Reonuts. Been MIA for the last couple of days. For some reason have had a major flare-up of the rheumatoid arthritis in my hands that's left me pretty much incapacitated. My fingers and knuckles have swelled to at least 3 times their normal size which negates being able to form a fist or even bend them. Makes it very difficult to garner enough strength to even squonk. I've adapted by sliding the doors off of the mods and squonking with both thumbs.

I can pretty much adapt to any physical limitation, (in the absence of alternatives the mind becomes very clear), but the pain associated with this borders on being unbelievable. After years and years of consuming very, very strong pain meds, (I'll avoid naming them so as not to possibly violate the forum's TOS and getting Lisa in trouble), to control the pain of my bone cancer I have developed a tolerance that would be fatal to many, if not most people but even those don't touch this pain nor does my normal RA medication.

During the day pain is simply a matter of mind over matter, 'if you don't mind, it doesn't matter', but at night pain that can't be mitigated makes it impossible to get any sleep... and I'm testy enough when I do get some sleep. (There are lots of people who will testify to that.)

I have to leave for Texas Friday morning and I'm a bit worried about making the 15 hour drive as well as getting my clothes ironed and the truck loaded. I'm not really sure how I'm going to do it but it'll get done one way or another. Perhaps if the weather is a bit warmer in Texas it'll help suppress the flare-up... perhaps not. We'll see.

And now for our weather up-date; It's still and clear... STILL SNOWING AND CLEAR UP TO OUR ASSES. (All in all that's very good news but it's not near enough to get us close to where we need to be to rejuvenate the water table and mitigate the upcoming fire season. We're going to have to have very heavy spring snows plus extremely heavy spring and summer rains or we'll be racing down the mountains trying to stay ahead of the fires. (I don't move as quickly as I used to. Hell, I never moved that quickly.)

Well, time to start trying to get some clothes ironed, the rest of my juices made and organize all the vaping stuff I plan on taking. Oh yeah, better put together my insulin kit while I'm thinking of it. And if I'm fortunate enough to be breathing in the morning I'm going dancing tomorrow night. Holding beautiful women always makes me feel better and I'm going to miss a week at the club so I gotta stock up on the good times.

Everyone have a good day 'cause life's too short to have a bad one.
