Sissy Dog and I made it to the farm Monday. Good news is that "lake" is still stocked. Bad news is squatter had his gear, all fitting in a back pack, spread out and obvious that he was living there by washed clothes spread out on ancient truck (owner's) to dry after being washed in lake and fold up table near by with fresh supplies and toilet paper that hadn't been rained on. It rained two days before. By truck on ground was freshly sharpened machete and ax. We turned around and headed out to road and called sheriff's dept. Two deputies came and spent and hour going through his stuff and survey all about and didn't find any identification or firearms but confiscated the ax and machete. They said it will be obvious to him that they had been there. They were all ready to make an arrest. Worst news is that house is falling down. Roof has holes that have allowed water in for years and most of the wood flooring has collapsed down to ground. Any left is risky to wakl on. Most windows broken. Some were antique leaded glass. Sent a beginning email off to my friend to explain conditio but only my email to her son got through. He gave her a little run down and, although she is thrilled the hundreds of trees they planted for her nursery business are thriving (although now too big to be economically dug up and replanted) she's really ...... that the 30 year roof she had put on 12 years ago hasn't held up. The house is two 100 yr old houses she moved and adjoined and put so much love, money, and sweat into restoring. She's pretty heartbroken about that. I'm thinking I can maybe make a clearing close by and put up a yurt with view of lake and basically pretend the house isn't there. Of course I'll need to sell a bunch of stuff to afford to purchase the yurt. In the meantime Jen has offered to loan me her ancient travel trailer to put on front part of property so I can start occupying the land a couple days a week.
Front part of property was cleared for plants, trees, and greenhouses for her nursery business. Plenty of room to park the trailer and put up temp fence for the Bubs. Will take them back to lake daily so they can get a few miles of delirious running and swimming done.
Spent a lot of time talking with one of the neighbors I knew and met another and his wife. Really nice people. The first, Rebecca, her husband kept the front part mowed and drive back until they divorced three years ago. But all is in great condition and the winter grass helped for traction driving the road. Sissy Dog wanted to jog back. Pretty funny.
So when we first got into the area behind big greenhouse frame I spotted a great little tractor with mower attached behind. Light bulb..... I can barter with neighbor to have him fix it and I'll give him free computer support forever. Well, two trees have grown up through it. You can see one in picture. Second picture is lilac I think. It's growing wild and smells too wonderful.
Hugs, Feisty Alice
Correction.... Wild Wisteria. (Thanks Jen) Hasn't been watered or fertilized in at least 10 years and we are now three years into drought.
Sissy Dog and wore out Jake Dog. Blur is Moe Doodle
Feisty Alice, Moe Doodle and Jake Mastiff who got tired of Sissy Dog not being able to take a picture for 5 minutes. Seems my phone doesn't like her or that's what she claims.
