Good morning Reonuts.

During our conversation they let me know, in no uncertain terms, that I was dead when they loaded me on the helicopter and that they really had no idea how I was able to survive. I explained to them that the reason was simple, I wasn't done pissing people off. (I had yet to meet everyone on the Reo forum so now I have an even more long term goal.)

I mentioned that I had decided to quit smoking so as to give myself a better chance at becoming a really old curmudgeon and tormenting those around me. Much to my surprise, and to my son-in-law's utter amazement, they both said that if I tried to quit cold turkey the strain would probably trigger another heart attack and there probably wouldn't be a need for another $15,000 helicopter ride. (And to think that I used to get paid to ride in 'em in the service.)

They explained that over two-packs a day for 43 years had left me a stone cold addict and with my other medical problems trying to quit would cause more harm rather than help. I asked them about using patches and they pointed out that my medical records showed that I had tried them several times over the years and always ended up smoking again... very quickly. Their suggestion was to cut down as much as I could without putting too much strain on my heart and temperament. (I get really testy without nicotine... really, really testy.) Of course they pointed out that my cancer would probably kill me before the cigarettes did so why be miserable in the meantime. Sounded good to me.

Jack

Good morning, Jack.
My doc said the same thing to me while I was pregnant with my daughter. I about fell over in shock. I was told it can put undue stress on the fetus to quit smoking cold turkey while pregnant. The very next words out of my OBGYN's mouth was he would never admit to telling me that. :glare:
At any rate...you have a long way to go, my friend. There's a whole lot of us who adore your old man antics! And good luck with those 4 inches...I'm not even going to touch THAT one.

Jack amazing story. Mine is somewhat like yours short of the heart attack. I know that would have been next had I not quit smoking. COPD was knocking on my door. Could hardly breathe and coughed constantly. I also smoked 2 pks a day for the last 36 yrs. Tried everything under the sun. Patches, gum, meds, hypnosis etc. I seriously thought I would die with a cig in my hand. Tried a blu cig one day on persuassion of my Son. That was 5-6 wks ago now. And have not had one cig since. Of course I knew right away the blu cig would not cut it for me and jumped on the puter for a better system. Came across this form and never looked back. Ended up with an eGo C but quickly bought a Reo and now have a VV Reo Grand on the way. For me vaping has saved my life. Until 1 1/2 mos ago I had never even heard of it. I was like you horrible to be around when I tried to quit smoking. I even hated myself. But now I am at least tolerable! LOL At least my Hubby has not moved out yet! LOL But seriously I am having NO withdrawl. Still at about 24mg nic in my Bobba's Bounty but just got a 100ml bottle at 18mg nic. Will drop myself down over time but will probably never quit vaping. So proud of you. It will take me some time to hit my anniversary but I know I will without having picked up another analog!

Where are you getting the pink doors? Or are you painting them your self? Sure is pretty. Seen JC Okie has a white Reo with a pink door and a white flower painted on it. Also beautiful! My husband powder coats for a living but does propane tanks. No pink paint where he works! LOL Guess no one wants pink propane tanks!

Rob does pink by custom order. After seeing JC Okie's, I had to have one.

Cheri, you will be surprised at how quickly your anniversary comes....and then you'll be surprised at how easy that first year was.
Just to chime in on this topic. There is another perspective to being a REO owner that is never spoken of but true nevertheless.
Your REO is an investment in your future but its also a financial commitment. By the time you're actually vaping your REO, you have a couple hundred dollars invested and that's just to get your foot in the door. That's not the kind of commitment you're as likely to walk away from in a moment of weakness. Every REO is a thing of beauty and it would be sacrilege to throw it in the back of the drawer beside the unused and forgotten nicotine gum, wouldn't it?:) JMO

Interesting point...and good morning, Roger  Isn't it amazing (looking back) how worth it is to make that investment? Before vaping, there's no way I would have parted with my smoke funds so easily. That's why I had to take the long way here instead of just jumping into the best money could buy.

Wow how things have changed. In the beginning when there was only a few of us here pink was a threat not a preferred choice. When we'd get out of hand Rob would threaten us guys with a pink REO. :) Hmmm maybe I should get my wood guy make a deep bright stabilized pink burl block for a VVWoodvil then auction it off to the highest bidder

I also took the long way, Lisa. No chance of finding a vaping mentor in this podunk area, so I had to make it up as I went along. Sometimes I look back and think that I wasted a lot of money finding my way to the end of the search here in REOland. In reality, I guess it was all progress as even my experimentation with inferior mods kept the cravings at bay long enough for me to get here.:)

Welcome, VappyMac :)
You're right, you just call Rob about the door to see if he has any on hand.

I have no experience with the kick so I'll leave those comments to the other reonauts. But I just wanted to let you know that the VV is the same size around as the Grand...it's just a little taller. I'm not sure which one would be best for you.
Here is a crappy picture I took in a rush to get all the models in one shot.

To add my little bit to this, friends, I started with a 510, and it took me over 2 years to graduate to the top of the line..Reos...because i didn't truly believe getting free of cigs would work for me and I didn't want to pay lots of money for vaping stuff only to go back to the damn cigs...and I haven't smoked, or, the best of all, haven't WANTED to smoke since my first ittybitty 510, not even one drag, and that was going on four years ago!

WOOT-WOOT-WOOT... IT'S SNOWING AGAIN!!! Yes, yes, I know, most of you are tired of snow but unlike Nutz who is surrounded by water, (none of which you can drink by the way), we rely on that fluffy white stuff for water during the warm months and to keep the forest fires at bay. (Did you ever wonder where the white goes when the snow melts? Yet another mystery to ponder... I do a lot of pondering.)

We got about 3 inches last night, can't tell you how much for today... it hasn't stopped yet. Hope it's a lot since it's supposed to hit 70 in Denver this weekend. Those stupid flatlanders will probably want to water their lawns, .......

I'm sure he wouldn't be offended. :) That's why he made several sizes. It is large...but I was a sworn mini user because of my small childlike hands. In the end, the only one I use 90% of the time is the VV Grand. I guess I adapted. Now the size is not bothersome at all...it just hits that sweet spot for me. But if you're looking at a money crunch, then I would agree the kick and some batteries might be your best option.
On a side note, it doesn't cost anything to go through verification for the classies....other than some time. Might not be a bad idea, you never know what you'll find in there. ;) It's a relatively easy process to go through. I did it and was verified for a short time. But I lost my tag because us SAs and forum suppliers aren't allowed in the classies and that cause some confusion for some people. I just did it to show my support for the new system. :)

*Sending you all the snow mojo I can.* Hopefully you can get some of what our mountains have been getting. We certainly shouldn't be in short supply of water this year.

I've always been curious about their butterscotch and caramel cream juices. But I have those flavorings, so I stumble with DIY.

COV will hook you up.

Morn'n Fine REO Folk. Major storm (another - wee hours one was mostly wind and no lightening so was able to hot tub but it certainly played hell with the umbrella I use for sun and rain shield; 50 mph gust - my 11 footer has survived 70 mph straight line wind in open position and even came loose, levitated for a few seconds and then flew across deck slaming and lodging into railing - but even though this 9 footer over spa has fiberglass ribs it's not rated commercial -I stopped getting the hinged poles years ago as they just don't hold up to our even mild winds even in fully straight up position)

Haven't done much catching up but saw mention of diesel smell. I've driven diesel trucks since early 80's and we got a used diesel Mercedes for Y2K. I stored 750 gallons of it here in tanks. Got it here by moving about 200 gallons, at a time, in a big container (those poly cubes reinforced by metal cage) that I hand pumped from a truck stop. Then basically moved it from tank in truck bed to tanks on ground using gravity mostly. Needless to say my whole body smelled like diesel for days despite numerous attemps to wash off. Trashed the clothes. Combusted diesel fumes (exhaust) are much more pleasant to ME than what lingered on my body and clothes from "swimming" in it.

Jen have a peaceful relaxing time with your folks. Are Spoos going with you?

Special love to Ray and Carol.

Beaming out good will to all.

Love and hugs, Feisty Alice
