...to put you all in the right frame of mind for the day......
Speaking of buzzards. Wildlife report. Going out my drive way, last part, where neighbors solid fence and trees on other side form a narrow chute, and have to go really slowly, too, because three multi vehicle houses share the chute, (one house parents drive so fast in and out they've even hit their own car savy dog)...... anyway young RoadRunner jumped down off neighbors fence right in front of me and glad I was going <5mph. Kapers, hope you get to see some of our CooCoos. It's a treat.
Then a few hundred yards up road a single scavenger was feasting on probably a smushed squirrel, right off the side in grass. I slowed down almost to a stop just a few feet from it. I'm pretty familiar with our local birds but this one was different. (And not ugly enough to be one of our guys.) Dark, solid brown, large, but head was not right for buzzard. Big enough to be a large eagle but definitely not an eagle. It just looked up at me for a short gaze and continued to dine, not flying off as is usual. Probably one not normally here and either passing through or may decide to stay. Global climate change is changing patterns of lots of animals.
At any rate, fun bird day, first couple minutes going out.
Speaking of birds and wierdness. This week I've had more close call collisions, while driving, with several types of birds, than all close calls added up for about 20 years. Remember I'm in middle of protected habitats but not all have been really close to home.
WIERD DAYS!!!!
Hugs, Feisty Alice
