Good morning, REOvil!

Here in the sticks...:glare:

your internet is over satellite, right? that explains a lot.

ookla lets you pick the server to connect to. they don't always find the closest one. but if you're on satellite i dunno.

i downloaded the ookla app to my iphone, temporarily disabled wifi to force the iphone to use the cell network:
Test Date: Dec 28, 2013 12:53 PM
Download: 2.14 Mbps
Upload: 0.18 Mbps
Ping: 132 ms
Connection Type: Cellular
Server: Auburn, CA

if i get spunky later, i'll hook up the Straight Talk hotspot thingie and test that.

For those wanting a truly ACCURATE internet speed test.....try Shaper Probe.....it yields a MUCH more reliable diagnosis than the Flash/Java based programs....
We have Comcast as our ISP (it's the only game in town....Verizon FIOS is blocked out of the area....) and since I need access to high-resolution weather maps and real-time data streams....I have Comcast's Extreme 105 speed tier (105Mbps down/20Mbps up).
Using Shaper Probe I consistently get ~115-120down and ~21-23 up....
Kinda pricey ($100/mo.) but if you download hi-res maps/data....it's necessary....
My sympathies to any who are FORCED by local tariff/topography to rely on internet via satellite....:(
Happy (vaping) Trails!

I was looking for a multimeter like this one if possible.

I believe it has a 510 connection on it (where the rda is in the picture), and would still be used for checking the voltage of other items around the house.
