not shabby, Scott!

the truth (according to Mama) is that if you can watch videos on Youtube without any degradation or pausing whenever you want to, then your speed is probly gd'nuff.

if you have multiple devices or PCs connected at the same time, you will want more speed, particularly if they all stream video, music or play online games. while i'm a tad surprised that Jen can actually even watch a video, most of us have more bandwidth than we'll ever need.

i wonder if Oscar or Jen's poodles are playing video games in the background :

call crapcast, oh sure, I do a couple times a week, they'd suspect I was dead if they havn't heard from me in two weeks, .......s.
So I finally was able to download a 9mb file/malewarebytes and i'm 53 min. into a system scan.
Comcast detected a GhOstRAT
so know I'm trying to dig that trojan outta here

malwarebytes is a must have!!!

i have been using it for i dunno how many years. i have used it to resurrect mebbe 20 friend/family computers, and it's saved my .... once or twice.

Best I can do is 3.2/down 1.2/up here in nowheresville. Its not terrible but after living in the city with speeds around 15mbs/....down 5mbps/up its pretty slow in comparison....could be worse though judging by some numbers posted here.

The infrastructure here is so out dated that I'm lucky to have internet at all

so malewarebytes removed 23 objects. amibotted.net still shows the ghostrat
but at this moment my speeds have improved to what they are normally. that was a long ... full scan over 1hour

Streaming HD video. YouTube, hulu, hbo-go, etc. Otherwise its generally adequate unless everyone Lisbon their devices at once. 3 phones 3 laptops a media server and a TV can eat up 3.2mbps pretty fast.

Couldn't agree more. That's one that has pulled some pretty gnarly ones off mine that I'd fought with like crazy to get rid of.

Hey Scott I'm doing good. Just spending time with family enjoying the new addition.

aah. yes, multiple simultaneous devices suck it down fast.

chances are your connection (isp or cable or dsl modem, whatever) is saturated. most likely, upgrading your service is your only option, although if you read the earlier posts, Buddy's (element77) modem appears to be crap, so getting a better one there might help.

there's a slight chance that your wifi router is also saturated. it's been a few years since i did the math, but if your router is slower than "N", that migth contribute to slowness, especially if some of your devices can do "N"

lastly, a few of us have "dual band" N wifi routers. last time i checked, these were the fastest home wifi routers available. mebbe still are.

the thing about dual band routers is that they were introduced before pc's or devices (tablets, phones, etc) were offered with dual band network cards or chips. Doh! :)

but anyone with a dual band router who has a recently made pc or device should check the device to see if it can use the second band. that may reduce wifi saturation on the older band.

i just gave myself a geek overdose. i hope i can find 'Dumb and Dumber' or the Three Stooges on tv.

nyuck, nyuck
:)

It might be gross to some people but i love fried liver and onions. I just hate to cook it haha.

i would rather eat chickens in socks...

when i left home at 17 and eventually earned enough money to actually go to restaurants, i was absolutely stunned to learn that real people actually chose to eat that. i was convinced my mother only served it when she was ...... at me.

a few years later i went to an italian restaurant and was shocked that people actually ate eggplant by choice...

ive never had eggplant

stick with steak and burgers :)

eggplant just doesn't even sound right. say it slowly... let the consonants and vowels roll off your tongue... eeewwwwww... :)

i have a chef-worthy buddy who threatens to cook me up some. he swears it was just my mom's backwoods cooking, but i'm still afraid to take him up on it.

i am also terrified of asparagus. when i was a little kid i went to a saturday matinee. instead of the usual western, they started showing sci-fi. the aliens looked just like asparagus. still do ...
