Storm right on top of our Ardmore right now. Not sure if they have any tornadoes right now. We have a system pretty far south of us but probably well out of our range. The big one that hit Moore is estimated probably worst tornado to ever hit earth. Worst thing is extremely populated area. The 1999 that hit same area, nearly identicle path, had highest recorded earth winds over 300 mph. This one much more devastation. A major freak.

For all of our OK Reonauts, I sure hope that ALL the folks you know in OK are totally safe and sound. I'm watching the news now, and my heart is just breaking for those who were in the path of the worst of it. I have a HUGE soft spot for that state. My favorite teacher of all time (and that's saying a LOT because I've been ridiculously lucky with so many fantastic teachers) was from Oklahoma; and she was madly in love with the state (had to move out here for the hubby). Every day she'd tell us a story or two about the state and the Okies, often hilarious, some true, some tall tales and folklore. She made me completely love it, too. That was way back in 8th grade History, but I remember the class better than so many college courses. I'm all the more riveted to the coverage of these terrible tornadoes. Michelle REALLY needs to check in to let us know that she's okay. How devastating this is.

Hey Becky I just started reading back after that and said Oh hey there is Becky!

It depends where you are at... yesterday the storms were north of me and northeast (looking on a map) Today they were 9 miles south.
I think yesterday it was about 15 miles.

Scott I am downtown.

They had us come down about 25 minutes early from work because they expected parents to start arriving. That's just terrible in Moore. :(

An ECF friend has two nephews who go to the school that was leveled. What a blessing that they are okay! 9 miles is WAY too close for comfort, Michelle. Am I correct that the threat is passed for the state now, and all can focus on dealing with the aftermath?

edit - You popped up above me, Ratman; I had NOT heard that the toll had already reached that high:(. For whatever reason, your tornadoes have always seemed scarier than our earthquakes.

Julie just heard from KOTV 6 news the OKC medical examiner says toll is up to 37 dead with many more expected. This does not include 24 children unaccounted for in a school they are digging out now. this was about 20 minutes ago. Heartbreaking.

yeah I just heard 37 too. As we hit likes on sad posts I just want you to know I am hearing you... Obviously not always liking the content. I can't be the only one reading it this way. :s

As I've said, though it's a pretty trifling matter in the grand scheme of things, I've also fretted some about "liking" sad posts. Often, I just want to click "thanks so much for posting". I'm glad that I'm not the only one who's pondered that small conundrum a bit:oops:.
