Oh Val! What a way to hear this so so sad news! After reading your post I was in tears. She does not know! Tears streaming down my face! I did not know Jack alll that well but I am loving him more and more as he is gone! Don't even know if that makes sense but my heart just aches for him! Hugs Val I can not even imagine with all of you knowing him much better than I did!

Isn't that the truth? I have read a lot of people all over ecf express the same thing. Something along the lines of 'I did not know him well but felt like I have known him forever'

How hot can it get in North Michigan? I would have thought heaters would be a biggie not air conditioners. I just picture Jack posting "what does the flatlander know". :)

Lol! It can easily reach the high 80's in Aug. and July! And the humidity can be brutal! But then we get the joy along about oct. of it cooling off. But then we have to deal with below freezing and two feet of snow.

But the weather never gets boring!

I know I certainly felt that way the first day he posted on the ECF in the New Members Area. From that moment, I KNEW he was special.

I miss Michigan, the only reason I am not back there is I don't think I can find a job as good as I have down here up there. I keep looking through.

No joke....as soon as I read "How's Jack?" I stopped dead....and just thought "oh ...., she doesn't know." Thus the chicken skin. If I could have reached through the screen right then to scoop her up and hug her, I would have. :(

Shambling, eh:laugh:? Picturing it now, but I do think you're just hot for your zombie show to start back up with that term:p! I'm thinking it'll be more like this -

I have no earthly clue how you've lived where you do with no air conditioning:ohmy:! For my five years in Iowa, the heat is what did me in the most, no question. So excited for you!

I think Mi. breeds tuff people cuz we have to live with four different temps. yearly! And we only need air conditioning...or lots of big fans....for a few months. Then we get a reprieve for a couple of months... no air or heat...and the same thing in the spring. But this is true for all mid-northern states.

It's 'cause he took that extra time and effort to craft posts, and often wonderfully longs posts, that could bring smiles to forum faces that he'd never even see. I pride myself on not being fooled too easily, but - at first - I DID think he'd up and gone sky-diving! When I found out that I'd been fooled, I just laughed and shook my head. I've been here for three full years, and I've certainly never seen anyone like him. As I read his book and think of the consistency of those posts, I recognize that it just came naturally to him more than the crafting I'd imagined, but the combination of both help to explain this response.

*Okay, full disclosure...I changed the above from "often wonderfully long ones":?::oops::ohmy::laugh:*

BTW, Kay, I take my heat-pity back. Can easily reach the high '80s? Pshaw:p! Your seasons are tough, but, as I've said, I'd take 'em, no question.

Years ago it actually snowed on the 4th of July! True, it was very early in the morning...but still, it was snow!

80's huh? Send them down here, you can keep the humidity. After the last 2 years in Oklahoma of record setting heat waves of over 45 days a year over 100*, it looks we will be back to our usual 4 months of high 90's with 70% plus humidity. Of course we will sprinkle 20 or so days in the 105-115 range just to keep it interesting.

Is it November yet???

I believe you lol, that is the thing I miss the most is the snow. Where I am at in West Virginia we get very little snow, and what we do get looks gray and nasty. I miss the white fluffy snow on the fields of the farm. Just thinking about it makes me home sick. I have lived here 8 years and I love West Virginia, but Michigan is still home.

I really couldn't live in any southern states...I'd have to stay indoors 10 months out of the year! I can handle bitter cold much better than intense heat and especially humidity.
