Tonight i nuked my 99cent Banquet TV dinner for 3 minutes, 47 seconds instead of my usual 4 minutes flat. The Mystery Meat was much more tender, the fond sparkled, and the vegetables (ok instant mashed potato thingy) only needed a tad more seasoning (massive amounts of salt and pepper)

Den, with the moobs we recently discovered you having, may I suggest wearing an apron? And if you remove the mystery meat (probably chicken with brown food coloring) to a plate, the fond can be used with the rancid veggie juice to make a nice sauce by replacing them into the microwave all stirred together for the remaining 13 seconds. With a tad more seasoning of course.

And if you have been following this cooking spiel, by now you should be able to cook a fine pork chop, open a can o' vegies (since slicing and dicing fresh sounds like it ain't your thing) or even a frozen preseasoned and have a much nicer meal than the TV dinner

my last divorce taught me to survive frugally. during the years i had to pay alimony, i spent no more than $1.50/day on food. The Banquet dinners were my version of splurging on 4-star restaurants...

i still occasionally buy them, just to maintain perspective. They are only 85 cents at wally's...

Pretty good now that my wifi has decided to like me again. I really wish DH would get a new provider that is reliable. Last few days have been bad.

He already has it with his batteries. I was thinking about putting it with the christmas present, but decided I would rather he have it now so mine doesn't up and move where it shouldn't. I use it too often to worry about whether he has purloined it again or not.

That is how my dad lives....he gets $680-ish in SS and that's all he has to live on. Good thing he lives in AZ. He'd be screwed here. He's 75. Don't get me wrong...he is where he wants to be...and enjoys life to the best of his ability, but to be honest, he still plays the PCH sweepstakes. Silly guy. His meals are BK meals though.

Oh...in keeping with the theme, we had seared mahi mahi on a bed of stir fried zucchini and onions and a side salad of avocado, tomato and dressing and sesame seeds. The salad didn't go with the fish...but it still tasted great. And I'm dying for chocolate chip cookies.

That is how my dad lives....he gets $680-ish in SS and that's all he has to live on. Good thing he lives in AZ. He'd be screwed here. He's 75. $1 - dollar store baloney (9 slices)
$1- dollar store margarine-like substance (would last a month or more)
$1- dollar store mustard (would last a month or more)
$6 cheapest, nastiest coffee i could get my hands on (maybe a month)

coffee, a slice or two of toast for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch averaged about 50 cents/day.

dinner alternated between Banquet tv dinners ($1) and Cup'o'Noodles (20 cents), depending on that month's attorney bills

those few years were fun times...
