After a bad wreck in mid 70s, multiple hernianed discs in neck and back and many soft tissue sprains/strains/tears sll over body, (if my knock on wood bones hadn't been so healthy with so much muscling for protection I possibly would have sustained broken neck and back), testings in and out of hospital, PT and other therapies, for years, complete change of most life style ergonomics down to changing bicycle seat and handlebars, frequent bouts of weakness and/or extreme pain events wher I couldn't move because of pain, addiction to valium over several years, always having 2 canes handy and ones for travel, permanent nerve root damage, etc....... and "managing" almost 10 years to the day I was out of town dog showing and was in so much pain, but still functional, I was bumming any people or doggie pain meds I could get.... last day, while in ring with Mastiff, right side gave out almost totally. Took me two days to drive home (I had three Mastiffs with me; handler carried the others back.) and stop for night back home only a couple hundred miles. Next day doc admitted me for emergency surgery. Not something to mess around with due to potential permanent nerve damage. (Although my docs and my doc DH say there is no such thing as partial paralysis rather correct label is "weakness" Jen and I firmly disagree with them.) Since the initial injury I can't for instance feel pulses with my right hand, but all pain nerves fully functional. I'll have to admit, and it really pisses DH off that I haven't gone to doc about it, I've had numbness in three fingers of left hand for a couple of months. It may be something permanent as I've waited so long. At least there is no pain in arm/hand and neck pain has subsided a lot.
Take care, Feisty Alice
