I still have an almost full box of KGD pads. I used it for quite a while. But a while back I got a couple sample packs of Cotton Bacon from one of our local shops, and began using it. I like it, along with the Native Wicks, even better than the KGD.
I got a box of KGD 2 years ago when I started building in Kayfuns. I haven't even used one of the stacks in the box. My wicks just don't require a lot of cotton & there is litte to no waste. I don't even peel off the outer layer. The fibers all run straight & wick great.

I still use RXW nothing else compares.......Mic drop!
From the time Jeremy released it I was a faithful follower. There was no wicking out there that came close to it in every aspect of vaping!!
Ever since my first hit off rayon, it's all I can vape, in terms of flavor, longevity, nic hit, and safety (100% pure cellulose - Trunker's off his rocker ;))

I never tried RxW, too many reports of it lacking flavor, and I don't like the thought of having the same wick in for more than a week personally but I totally see the appeal.

Rayonati Sloth :vapor:
I was a lazy vaper!! I hated changing out wicking once or twice a week. Just a quick dry burn with the wicking in place and I was ready to go with a new coil and clean wicking and I could do it no matter where I was. Simplicity at its best!!

I will say that after being caught out one day for about 4 1/2 to 5hrs after I burnt the only cotton I had in my atty and couldn't vape had me looking for the next few days and thats when I found RxW... Never had a problem with a burnt wick ever again...

But i don't want to have to do maintenance on my gear every week. i want my coils and wicks to last months which is why i got away from cotton as fast as i could. Since i use the same juice all the time, i'm not bothered by how long the wick is in there. It's why i run a Reo - hardly any maintenance, even vaping at my suicidal levels.

My wick gets dry burned to clean it and that's it. Being able to dry burn and not scorch your wick in half is a winner!

When i make coils i like to make Claptons or fused Claptons which i find are great for flavour once they've bedded in - but they take quite some time to make, so it's nice to get 6 months out of them.

From a safety point of view, the same essential charge will be levelled against most of our wicks with the exception of steel mesh perhaps and it's that the wick will release small fibres that will get stuck in one's lungs etc. Now, i'm pretty sure that everyone here will realise that how bad that is will depend on how wet the wick is maintained in the first place. The same was said of silica wick back when that was pretty much all anyone used.

If 40 Marlboro a day didn't polish me off, then i doubt a bit of wick will.

The dislike for rayon, for me, is one of those things that's difficult to describe. I just didn't like it. It wicks just fine, lasts maybe a little longer between rewicking than cotton, the flavor was there, although there was something there that I don't get with cotton. I don't know what it is. Cotton just seems smoother. Plus, the wicking process just seems contrary to everything I've learned about wicking with cotton.
I get a strange flavor in the bavkground from it I don't get it with cotton.

i did like ss mesh wicks but not the gennies they went in. i once used one in a RM2, but it dried out so fast it was scary - one puff/one squonk. Ceramic wick was the same, but suffered fewer hotspots.

i still have a sheet of ss mesh here someplace - i think i last used it to repair a hole in the wall!

I was a mesh wick genny loyalist for a couple years. I still have a few around someplace, as well as a couple sheets of mesh. I'm such a pack rat.

Then it's wicked too tightly. It imparts no flavor.
I get good flavorn but there's another taste present that I don't get with cotton, but is always present with rayon.

A sign it's too tight. Or, you have a sensitivity to rayon maybe. I taste literally nothing. It's like drinking my eliquid.

Alpaca however is superior, because it adds its own graininess to the taste. Earthy. Musty. Delicious. :D

That's how cotton is to me. Just the juice!

Proof we are all different :)

^the beauty of vaping, btw. When I think back on smoking and how limited we actually were in our options, it makes me laugh.

Me too. However, I also get a chuckle out of how some of us have become 'super tasters', like those whisky samplers who supposedly can detect one rotten stave in an aging barrel, or coffee tasters who comment on stuff like floral notes and nuttiness.
I remember picking dried up, half smoked butts out of the ashtray, and lighting it up, if I accidentally ran out of cigs, and no stores were open; or trying to relight a wet cig that I had dropped on the ground; or buying a different brand, just to have something to smoke, if the store was out of Marlboros.

I used to roll my own cigs, and I'd keep the butts, and when I ran out I'd empty the butts and roll a cig out of those remains.

Daaaayum, my "smoke" tastes better now!!

Personally, I didn't care for rayon, although, admittedly, I haven't spent a whole lot of time experimenting with it. What little time I've spent fooling around with it, I've always gone back to cotton. I know lots of people prefer it.
same here. And I'm just not patient enough for it's finicky-ness. Jup that's a word lol Kinda like dealin with a cat. It's not tight enough, it's too tight. it's through the coil just right, but ya didn't trim or fluff the tails enough. Cotton gives me no bad taste that I'm aware of, and it's just easier. RxW is good. I think for taste and little to no break in, I like cotton better, but it sure is convenient to be able to clean coils whenever, wherever dry burning with the wick in place.

No kiddin. Either I never had those kind of tasteybuds, or they never came back. And jup, we'd smoke just about anything.
