@Robinowitz thanks

So, I decided to mess around with Steam Engine a bit...here's a screenshot of a hypothetical 1 ohm build with SS 316L 28ga 2.5mm ID

As you can see, quite a cool
vape there in terms of heat flux on a full battery. Heat capacity's fine, so that's alright. Let's compare it to your current 6 wrap 28ga Kanthal build:

That's a tad warmer, with a nicer heat capacity. Let's try building a little lower to see if we can match it:

Getting there. It seems 28ga SS isn't going to provide the same
vape you're looking at so let's instead take a glance at 30ga.

Well now, that looks like a heck of a
vape! Warmer than your current setup, (well, at least in terms of the initial firing...) and quicker ramp up to boot.
So maybe for you and
@Debadoo, 30ga SS is the place to begin. Or you could try building as low as .7 or so with 28ga which I can say is a mighty fine vape (I've tried it, 2.5mm ID). I think 30 and 28 are worth playing around with. Any preconceived notions of moderate sub-ohm may just be tossed to the wayside with SS316L - it's so much smoother and cooler than a kanthal build of the same resistance.
Keep me posted ya'll!
ETA yeah, sorry guys, if we need to move this to the other thread, we can do so now
