Does anyone use that ready x wick stuff ?
What do you think of it ?

I as it looks I might be in the minority, but I absolutely LOVE it. It lasts a very long time maybe 6 months or so and it doesn't taste like shizzle when you go too long with out squonking. Those two things alone sold me on RxW. Been using it for two years and don't have any complaints

Do you use the 2mm or the 3mm?

i've bottom fed the Igo-S by just dremmelling a channel in the pin before. It's pretty easy.

I could probably tackle that...how did you get the pin out ?
And would it be the same for the L ?

I use vapors choice cotton and RxW in all my setups. As others have said, RxW lasts forever. The only thing that concerns me, and maybe others who have used it can chime in- I cant help think about all those little fibers, you know the ones that float around your face right after you cut the wick? They're hard to see unless you have some sunlight from a window coming in at an angle. Reminds me of fiber glass. I have changed the ways I prepare the wick now. before I cut the wick, I will wet it down with water first and then dry burn once coil is mounted to evaporate the water then lube right away with a big ol squonk to keep oxidation down. Seems to eradicate any pesky, nose itching, eye watering fibers. Another thing, I hate trying to thread the RxW through a coil. Instead, i will freewrap a coil around the wick (think silica) and for this, I fold the small wick over itself twice for a total of 3 strands of 1.7mm RxW. Be sure not to wrap too tight, it will collapse the hollow straw like feature of the wick. This method is good from 1.5 ohm all the way down to 0.3 ohm (my safety cutoff). I use 30AWG >1 ohm, 28 AWG from 0.6-1 ohm and 26AWG <0.6 ohm. twisted wire seems to enhance the flavor and twisted parallel is my preferred setup for quicker ramp ups. Been using this stuff almost 2 years. Despite the fiber issue, its my favorite wick.

I thought the Ready x Wick was basically silica.

It looks like silica but it is really spun ceramic threads weaved into a straw. If you put a strand under a torch, it will glow white hot and will actually get stronger, similar to a ceramic dish when they place it in a kiln.

i used a screw just smaller than the plastic insulator the pin sits in and knocked it out from the top down with a hammer. Dremmelled a channel and then (having removed the atty screws which get in the way), put it on a flat surface and smacked the pin back in.

15 minutes start to finish. That pin is stainless steel so it takes a bit of grinding on it to get a channel cut in it. It's not all soft and nice like RM2's!

Welcome - and yeah, i found they all are modded the same way. If you have even a cheap vice (lol you say tomato...) or vise, then it's easy and if you are too impatient to send anything away to be modded, then it's easy.

When i did it on one of my Igos, i figured the atty cost about $10 anyway so even if i screwed it up, it's not like i'm out much cash.

That's one reason I never got any. I thought them baking it like they do might eliminate that, but I reckin not. It must not be as bad as silica, but that is the thing I hated most about the silica wicks I'll stick wiff my cotton.

I use the 3MM I used to use the 2MM but I like the 3MM much better..It took me a long time to get rid of the 2MM Because I had 5 FT of it.

My vice is that I am cheap.

what you you all think is the best rda for vapor production for a grand lp

You'll get lots of opinions on this. Unfortunately, a couple of my favorites are no longer available; but they do crop up on the classifieds once in a while. They are the Nuppin and the Manta V2. I also like the Stumpy, the Thump, and the Maker. A good place to discuss be attys is Catfish Atty Mods, in the 'Modders and accessories suppliers forum'.
