Bit of disparaging moment yesterday.

I was on a ferry, travelling home, and out on the deck in the smoking (sigh) section. A chap about my age, pulling on a cigarette, noticed me puffing away and asked "do those things actually work?". I said "Boy, do they" and told him about my journey from being a pack a day smoker. He then said "Yeah, but they're worse for you than cigarettes". We talked for about 5 minutes after that, with me grilling him on where he got this "fact", and his replies were steadfastly these - "everyone knows it", "it's all over the media", "doctors say so".

At this point, another smoker (woman about 35) chimed in with "I think they're better for you than cigarettes, but they'll be illegal in 6 months, so why bother?".

The subject then changed to... their health issues.

These were two random strangers who could have had their lives changed through vaping who will never attempt it thanks to the propaganda.

They did think the reo I was sporting was cool, tho, so there is that.

Oh, my bad, cw. Well now you have the trifecta (triple crown? peanut butter, chocolate, and sprinkles?).

For me, the grand is what I think of when I think REO. I have the other models, too, and love them dearly, but if someone asked me to show them a reo, I'd produce a grand.

I run into the same issue from my own wife. She's glad I don't smoke any more, but wished I didn't vape either. Says I just traded one addiction for another. I'm on my own here. I think I'm the only vaper in this little cowtown I live in. My wife likes to research things, and guess which research always comes out first? Probably the same garbage those folks on the ferry read. It's just so frustrating hearing and reading that propaganda.

Not that I've ever been too naive, but the generalised hit piece that is the current vaping narrative has given me a new (perhaps merely newly polished) lens to view world events through.

Hyperbole and 'research' to prove a predetermined outcome used to be the domain of yellow journalism and late night infomercials. Now its a barrier to entry and boilerplate for any message.

Vaping has made me more determined to chart my own course through the miasmic fog of spin and agendavangelism.

It is very sad, science for a time was viewed as a beacon of integrity. Now, my first question is, "Who paid"? My next question is, "What was the methodology?" The third question is, "What is the raw data?" My last question, if I get that far is, "What is the conclusion?" Too often, there is no reason to reach the final question.

Ah, see, but you're applying scientific method to what it essentially opinion (usually financially motivated). Sadly, there's small wonder it fails the rigour. To your point, this is a tragic perversion (which makes them... you know... perverts) of the quest for empirical truth.

What an awful return trip from Syracuse was. I was in Syracuse for a week, visiting my daughter, granddaughter, son in law, and their new puppy.
My connection was in Atlanta, for a usually short hop home to Florida. But that's where the nightmare began. Apparently, bad weather forced a lot of flight cancellations out of Atlanta. Mine was one of them. Long story short, my flight from Atlanta to Florida was first delayed, and ultimately cancelled, Wednesday night. I was automatically re booked for Thursday noon. After sleeping on the floor in the airport, along with thousands of other stranded people, I figured I'd at least get out Thursday morning.
WRONG!
That was cancelled too. Ultimately, two more flights were cancelled, following 4 or 5 gate changes, which involved hoofing it between concourse A and B. Eventually, I was told I was re booked for today (Friday afternoon). Now, somewhat skeptical, I decided that, number one, I wasn't sleeping on the floor again, and number two, I had no reason to believe that I wouldn't get cancelled again.
So, I immediately called Budget rent a car, and fortunately, they had a car available, in about an hour. I got the car, and began my long drive from Atlanta to Central Florida, which is about 8 hours, give or take.
I drove last night until my eyes started to glaze over; so I figured it would be best to get a room and a good night's sleep. I finished the drive this morning. I had about 2 1/2 hours left.
Finally made it home at about 11:00 this morning.
And what did I find in my mailbox when I got home?
My new Delta Sky Miles card I had applied for last week, before I left.
Lol.

She's 9 1/2 weeks old.

Hey everybody I have to catch up and do some reading lol. Quick question because I am ordering a new grand. I have a low profile grand but I'd like a standard one, Does the standard non-afc cyclone fit in the catch cup on the standard grand with no issues?

Don't know. I've never seen the reason for buying a non LP Grand. They're too limited. You can use anything on an LP.
